Rather dull and mostly pointless book. Would've been better to add to the next book.
I love this lil novella. I love the vibes, it is short but I think at least it's gives us a sense of peace in between the wars, to see how characters live when they aren't surrounded by constant chaos and brutality.
For that I give this a 3.5-4/5. I wasn't mind blown, but I would say ACOWAR was better than ACOFAS when comparing the reading experience and primarily for depth of content and storytelling. It's not bad, just so short!!
Absolutely nothing happened. Why build a fantasy word only to talk about the mundain.
Shopping, cooking, drinking wine, and painting rooms isn't what I was here for.
This removes any emotional depth to any of the events of the previous book.
Nope. Just a bunch of different events happening (setup for the next book I guess). Very poor attempts at poetic prose (the void tapestry analogy was terrible). Actually felt bad for Tamlin, the way Rhysand degraded him was so unnecessary and off putting.
I found this useless filler.
I was so excited for the multiple points of view, but I just found this short book to feel so long and unnecessary.
I went into this book a little bit hesitantly because a lot of people haven't like this one and I understand why they feel that way however I really enjoyed this one. Once again thanks to Destiny for buddy reading this with me.
My advice to people is to not go into this expecting an action packed high stakes book because that's not what you are going to get. This book takes place after the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin. I can see why people think this is a pointless story in the grad scheme of things but for me personally I liked getting to see these characters finally getting to enjoy some time without all the drama and death.
Of course they still have a lot to do but in this book they were essentially taking some time for themselves to enjoy each other and the little things and I really loved that. Is it as great as the first 3 books no but that doesn't mean it isn't great for what it was meant to be.
I am all for a bridging novella, but this just feels out of place. With ACOTAR being the glacial pace of story building, then jumping right into ACOMAF and ACOWAR with amazing writing, content, pace, etc... this reflective little novel seems like it could have been a preface to ACOSF considering what all of our characters are struggling with for the first 40-50% of that book.
Even the writing in this one seemed off compared to the two before it. I appreciate it was supposed to be more reflective, but you can only take so much of a scenic detour around a point before you need to get back to it...
Ppl hate this book. I will give it 3.5 stars. think it is fun and tender and honestly what you want but don't get to see when a fantasy book ends - the happily ever after. I loved the gentle moments (Elain cooking solstice dinner and giving az a solstice gift) and the healing moments (Feyre opening a studio for art therapy) and just the fun moments (cassian and Feyre drunkenly decorating). Idk I just feel like this book is soft and fun for winter time. Happy solstice love u
I loved this book so much!! Reminds me of a short fantasy Christmas book that is in well one of my favorite series.
When i found out that Feyre and Rhys are going to try and have a baby
cozy and cute. the Christmas episode in every anime. the themes of recovering from loss were well represented ❤️
Reads like a Christmas special, delightful if unlike the previous books in the series
I don't think this book had any purpose besides being a guilty pleasure for the author to write and for me to read. Am I complaining? Absolutely not. I ate this book up. The pov shifted between first and third person depending on the person's perspective which rly threw me off guard but ah well. So many of the scenes I craved after the last book were in here. I almost preferred it to novellas because I liked the pretense of a plot throughout the book, instead of the choppiness of a novella bind up. Honestly it reminded me of a fanfiction, but one of the well written ones that leaves you wanting more and sated at the same time.
Love that SJM was like “you know what doesn't exist in books, and what we need more of? Christmas specials.” And then she just went and wrote it.
I think about the pointlessness of this book sometimes. It kills me since I usually enjoy novellas.

As someone who loves Christmas and enjoys some good Christmas movies, I've never been into Christmas books. This one did not change my mind. This reads like the kind of fanfiction I'm not personally into and I got a bit bored. LOVE these characters, but I gotta admit, Rhys and Feyre are super boring when they're just in love and not fighting together. Which would be great if they were my real life friends, but ugh, wasn't interested. Some interesting world building bits, but I kept finding myself flipping to the teaser for ACOSF which was WAY more intriguing than The Christmas Special.
as much as i love the acotar series the multiple pov made me not enjoy this one as much
“You were born on the longest night of the year.” His fingers again stroked down my back. Lower. “You were meant to be at my side from the very beginning.”
The book started off pretty slow. I hate to say it but I was bored. It took about 80 pages to really get into, which is a lot considering this is a super short book. But, the book started to pick up and played on my heartstrings. I did enjoy all of the banter and jokes between the group. This book gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling and would have been a perfect read for Christmas time. Overall, a good book
