Just so disappointed... started off pretty strong but then the plot, the relationships and character motivations started falling apart and not making sense. Felt like they just gave up on the plot part way through.

First off, I'm not a fan of enemies to lovers because there are few that are done well, this was one of those examples of why the trope doesn't work. The relationship between the MC's was purely lust driven. They never came to any understanding or developed any real connection. Felt like a really forced enemies to lovers trope. The romance was not believable, Alex and Rune's relationship made way more sense...

Gideon was SOOOO unlikeable. Throughout the whole book he was basically a brainwashed nazi.

Feyre is basically watered down Katniss. Found it a struggle to understand her decisions and motivations. Much of the plot made no sense at all. Being a Fantasy Romance, I expected the romance to make up for the lackluster plot, but sadly disappointed. Writing style is a lot of telling readers how to feel rather than showing. Hoping the rest of the series gets better...

Slightly, better than the first book. Rhysand's overrated, yeah he was there for Feyre when Tamlin wasn't but he seems just as controlling and more manipulative. Didn't like how Tamlin's PTSD was just dismissed and he was simply turned into the guy we're suppose to vehemently hate.

Already felt like the characters weren't great in this series and they were terribly inconsistent in this book. Seemed like their personalities changed based on how the plot needed to be moved along. All the men in this series were just slightly different versions of each other. For a book romanticizing men who support women, the “good males” were rather condescending and manipulative, giving the women a false sense of choice and autonomy.

Repetitive phrases and plot points. Magic system is nonexistent, seems to just change whenever it was convenient. The pregnancy subplot was infuriating (hint of pro-life rhetoric)

Loved the writing, got me to keep reading. Was looking forward to seeing her involvement in historical events but those events were only referenced briefly. Felt very eurocentric, Addie wanted to explore the world but she only explored Europe and the US. Mixed feelings about the ending...

Was fun to read but not worth rereading for me.
