I just loved this book. I think I'm in a rom-com phase right now and I feel like reading these books, cause they make me feel good. I'm thankful that I got to read this one in advance, thanks to PRH International.
This book is beautiful in so many ways and one thing I loved the most about it is all the Indian culture that is present in this book. There are so many things I didn't know, that I had to google and therefore I got a little bit more educated on a lot of subjects. I love books that can make me feel good, but also teach me things at the same time!
I loved Niki, the main character. She's a woman in tech like me and I loved that about her! We need more books about women who are this cool. She's 29, she's still living with her parents, she lost her job and she decides to go to Mumbai and take part in her best friend's wedding. A rush decision that changed her life in so many ways. Niki's journey to Mumbai made me want to try all the delicious food she was talking about, visit all those beautiful places and have fun like her!
Niki is a strong character, even though she doesn't see it at first. But her journey in this book is so inspirational and it made me think of how many times I should've said “yes” instead of “no”.
If you want a quick, really nice rom-com, I highly recommend this one!
Nice, quick fantasy read that gave me Six of Crows vibes, but with more magical things. I really enjoyed it and I'm thankful for the fact that I got to read an advanced copy of this book, courtesy of the author.
Being Romanian, I loved the fact that some things were inspired by Romanian culture such as names, places and Zodiac signs. I squealed a little when I saw these things, because not so many people know about this small, but beautiful country.
Love the characters, especially the Raven (I am secretly rooting for her and Rowan, that would make an amazing friends to kinda enemies to lovers story, wouldn't it??).
Can't wait to see what the next book in this series will bring!
I cried. A lot.
This book broke my heart in the best and the worst ways possible. Beware, it's going to break your heart too. The Rebels are at war and we all know what happens when people are at war: people die.
This review is spoiler-free, don't be afraid. I just want to let you know that this book is brutal, but it is absolutely amazing. Every single death was worth it, but that didn't make them any less painful.
I love Amani and Jin so much, but especially Amani. From a small, fearful desert girl from the middle of nowhere, she becomes a strong part of the Rebellion, guiding them with all that she is, all that she has. Amani is truly inspiring and I adored her evolution throughout the book, it made me so happy.
She does things she never thought she was capable of and surprises everyone, even herself. That's what makes this story incredible.
I also loved LOOOOVED the writing style! So magical and so beautiful, I felt like I was a kid and someone was telling me a really good story, that's how the author's style felt for me. Which was truly amazing, it made me feel so many things at once.
Great, great book from such an amazing series. I highly recommend it!
WOW! I loved this book so much, more than the first one. This sequel to the amazing “Rebel of The Sands” has exceeded my expectations. I didn't know that I was in for such a bumpy ride, but I loved every single part of it.
This book has everything: love, betrayal, sacrifices, friendships, family drama, amazing plot twists.
There were a lot of things that I didn't expect and that's what made me love the book so much more. I loved the writing style, the pace and the action. This is a book that keeps you wanting to read more and more, I just couldn't put it down.
Very good book. Even better than the first one. Definitely worth reading if you're a sci-fi fan.
I just can't get enough of this series, of these amazing and beautiful characters, of Avonlea and Anne and Gilbert.
This book wasn't that great at first, because I felt like Davy was such an annoying character. I mean, he's a little boy who makes mistakes, he's a child that's supposed to be annoying, but he was kinda making me not like the book as much as I wanted to.
But then Anne left for Redmond and there was so little of Davy that I started to fall in love with the book again. And oh, what an amazing journey it was. Anne is an adult now, she is in college, she's studying and she is working and she has grown into such a beautiful, brave woman.
Her character is so great because she is not perfect, she makes mistakes and it takes her so long to realize that love is just in front of her. I couldn't be mad at her, but I was sooooo happy when Anne and Gilbert finally declared their love for each othed. I cried so much and theey were tears of happiness. The book was so emotional and full of joy, I know it's going to live rent free in my heart from now on.
What an amazing sequel to “Anne of Green Gables”. I didn't expect to fall in love so hard with these characters, especially with Anne. I am fascinated by her story and I love seeing her grow up into a beautiful, educated woman. I am so excited to read the next book and follow Anne's journey!
I can't say that I didn't like this book, but I didn't love it either. It was enjoyable, but it took me more than the first half of the book to finally understand what was going on and things are still a little bit blurry. All I can say is that this book was weird. Right now I don't even know if I want to continue reading this series, but I do want to give it a chance, maybe it gets better.
Loved, loved, loooved this book! I am so happy that I FINALLY decided to read Percy Jackson. I enjoyed every single page of this book and it is such a nice and easy read - obviously, it's meant for kids mostly, but I'm a kid at heart, okay?
I am so excited to read the next book in the series and dive deeper into the world of Percy Jackson.
I really enjoyed following Maia's story after the events of “Spin the Dawn”. However, I didn't feel like this book was as good as the first one, I don't know why, but there was something missing.
I did enjoy it a lot and I would recommend it to my friends and followers, it's a great book.
WOW - I am speechless. I had a feeling I was going to like this book, but I ended up LOVING IT SO MUCH! It just got better and better and I couldn't stop reading.
Did anyone say uni projects? Cause all I heard was “I need to finish this book ASAP”.
It's magical, beautiful and everything you could ever want. Maia is a strong and amazing character, Edan is dark and intriguing, the Emperor surprised me and Lady Sarnai... Let's just say I kinda wanna slap her and hug her at the same time.
I absolutely love Elizabeth's writing, it's so beautiful and it flows so smoothly that you don't even realize you read... 400 pages instead of the 40 pages you said you were going to read. THAT'S MY KIND OF BOOK
Now I can't wait to read Unravel the Dusk and see where Maia's journey is going.
I don't even know what to say about this book. It isn't like anything I've ever read, it's a very unique and... disturbing book. There is some really gross stuff going on in this story, but it's very intriguing.
Really nice book and totally unexpected plot-twist, I absolutely loved that! This book is full of betrayals, action, unexpected things happening, passion and everything you want!
I loved it just as much as I loved “Anna and the french kiss”. A perfect romance book
It's hard for me to write a review for this book. I've read this one for the first time when I was a 10 year-old child. The first edition I read was a Romanian one which contains an additional chapter, which scared the hell out of me at that time (it still does even now when I'm 10 years older). I don't know what made it appeal to me so much, but this book changed my life. I have grown to love the stories of vampires since reading this one and I fell in love with fantasy creatures.
This is also the first classic book that I've ever read and it still remains my favourite one. And even my favourite book of all the books I've read. I cannot explain why, it just gives me an amazing feeling of “coming home” whenever I re-read it. It may be due to the fact that some of the action takes place in my home country, Romania, or the fact that I've always been fascinated by vampires. Anyway, the story is so well written and it always makes me want to read and read and read without stopping. I don't mind the pages full of descriptions, I don't mind the longer chapters.
All the characters are amazing. They're strong, they have created some amazing friendships and I love all of them, especially Mina and Jonathan. They create such a beautiful couple, they understand each other in a beautiful way and their love is so strong that you can feel it whenever they talk about each other in their journals.
I also adore the format of the book. It's composed of journal entries from some of the characters, which gives the story a really great feeling. You can see every characters' thoughts and how they feel about what is happening, you can see them slowly understanding everything about Dracula, however weird it may be. They're open minded and they do not back down, even when put face to face with such a monstrous character as Dracula, evil and cunning.
What can I say more? READ this book and see for yourself how good it is!
“The circus arrives without warning.”
I loved this book! So magical. I have never read anything like this before, this book has such a beautiful story. The magic is so interesting, everything about this book is amazing!
It actually makes you feel like you are there, inside the circus, watching the performers.
I have NO WORDS. This book deserves all the stars in the world. It was so amazing, I had high hopes for it and it did not disappoint. Lynette Noni has managed to break my heart again and again, and then mend it and then break it again. I don't even know what to say about this book, just that I loved it with all my heart and it's such a perfect ending for a beautiful series. I'm going to miss these characters so much, I've grown to love and appreciate them, even those I hated at first.
The Prison Healer is now one of my favorite fantasy series and I will neevr stop talking about it. EVERYONE needs to read this series!!!
I want to begin by saying this: if you haven't read this book, DO IT. NOW.
I haven't read a book like this one in a while. It is fast paced, it has great characters and an amazing plot, the plot twists are mind blowing and it's just WOW. Saying that this book is good would be a huge understatement. It's amazing. It's magical. It's everything you didn't know you needed.
I am so happy that I picked it up. I somehow knew that I was going to like it, because a lot of my friends kept recommending it around bookstagram and I trust their opinions. They weren't wrong on this one. It's a very, very awesome book that deserves more hype and more appreciation.
Following the story of Kiva, the Zalindov prison healer, this book takes you on a beautiful and heartbreaking journey around the prison, giving you the chance to get to know the amazing Kiva, a young girl who does everything in her power to help even the ones who harm her. Kiva is such a strong and beautiful character and I felt so bad for her most of the time, because she didn't deserve anything that was happening to her.
We also get to know other amazing characters such as:
- Tipp, a very young boy that helps Kiva around the infirmary, who is her only friend in the beginning
- Jaren, a new inmate that Kiva doesn't want to get close to, but she can't help it; he's too charming
- Naari, the prison guard that isn't like the others, who just want to harm and make the inmate suffer; Naari is, surprisingly, a kind person
This book will make you fall in love with these characters and their stories, it will make you cry and laugh with them and it will suck you in so hard that you're going to believe you're right there at Zalindov, while peacefully reading from your bed/sofa.
I loved everything about this book and a 5 star rating for this doesn't feel enough, but it's the most I can do. And I will definitely try to make everyone read this, because YOU ALL NEED TO
And... you can try to prepare yourselves for the ending, but you will NEVER be prepared for something like that. It left me speechless and I NEED the next book ASAP. I just need it.
Really great book and the perfect sequel to One Dark Window. I loved where the story went and I absolutely loved seeing more of Ione and Elm - I didn't really like Ione in the first book, but this one made me love her so much and understand her so much better. The characters are great, the story was beautiful and tense and it kept me on the edge of my seat for so long, waiting to see what was going to happen to these amazing characters.
This was a nice book. As a person who has always loved mythology (especially the Greek one), I can say that this is a well written book. It didn't leave me with that wow feeling, but I really liked it.
I loved how Circe evolved through the chapters. From a little girl ready to do anything in order to please the ones around her, she becomes a strong, beautiful woman. She learns how to love, how to appreciate the world around her, how to be better. I didn't really like her “relationship” with Odysseus because I didn't like him as a person AT ALL. But she learned a lot from that relationship and eventually it brought her something amazing: Telemah and Telegonus.
The ending was... really powerful.
“I thought once that gods are the opposite of death, but I see now they are more dead than anything, for they are unchanging, and can hold nothing in their hands.”
Circe chose to leave her immortality behind and become human and live a long, beautiful life alongside Temelah. That was really emotional and I loved her decision so much. She was so strong, so powerful and such an amazing person.
As a person who lives in Romania, this book spoke to my heart. And especially the fact that my all time favourite book is “Dracula” by Bram Stoker. So, I assure you that the myth of Dracula is something very dear and important to me.
A small thing that bothered me in this book was the fact that the characters traveled from Bran Castle, where the Academy is located, to the village Brasov by foot. And they did is so fast, which is impossible because between Bran Castle and Brasov in reality there are 30 kilometers. So it's kind of impossible to go from one place to the other in just 10 minutes, but I ignored this small thing, because otherwise the story couldn't have developed in the way it did.
Unlike the first book, this one surprised me. I was shocked when I found out who the killer was. I was NOT expecting it. That's what makes this book even better than the first one, which I enjoyed a lot.
The story follows Thomas and Audrey Rose in their journey to a forensic medicine academy in Romania. There, they discover a series of murders and they do their best to find out who the killer is.
I fell in love with Audrey Rose's character again and again. She is one of my favourite female characters because she doesn't let the fact that she's a woman living in a man's world drag her down. She is strong and she knows what she wants. She follows her dream, she is a very intelligent woman and she has the best partner she could wish for: Thomas Cresswell.
These two characters have become some of my all time favourites, even if I haven't finished the series yet. Their chemistry is incredible, the way the are made for each other makes me want to cry, because their friendship is so beautiful and it will hopefully turn in to something even more beautiful.
Such a beautiful and magical (not semi-magical) book!
I received a free copy of this book through @MTMCTours and I am so happy that I signed up for this bookstagram tour. Many thanks to the author for giving me the chance to read her amazing book.
Eva's journey begins with her doubting herself because she has only a pinch of magic, as opposed to the other witches and wizards in their realm, who posses greater amounts of magic. But that doesn't stop her from pursuing her dream: to become a Novice Witch before she turns thirteen.
Eva embarks on her beautiful journey, that takes her to the sea-town of Auteri. There she makes friends she never would've imagined as a part of her life, she discovers her true self and she helps everyone around her with the little amount of magic that she has.
Eva has such a strong personality and I loved reading this book from her point of view, because she made everything funnier and more interesting. The writing style is amazing and it made me turn page after page, until I finished the book. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. I love the format of the book, the fact that each chapter has a small, gorgeous illustration in the beginning.
Even though this book is a middle-grade one, it felt so much more powerful than that. It has some beautiful life lessons, my favourite one being that we are so much more than we believe and we can do so many things, even if sometimes we may consider ourselves to be weak.
About the book
After the awful events on the RMS Etruria, told in “Escaping from Houdini”, “Capturing the Devil” follows the story of the amazing Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell as they make their way through New York. New crimes appear, women disappear and Thomas and Audrey try their best to solve the mystery in New York and then Chicago. Will they capture the devil, before the devil captures them?
Plot
The story was purely amazing. I fell in love so hard with both Thomas and Audrey, they are some of my favourite characters ever. Their love for each other is so inspiring, the fact that they never gave up on their relationship, even when the whole world was against them cough.
“My love for you will be a constant in a sea of unknown variables. We may fight or be cross with each other, but our love will never fade or wilt. Trust in that. Trust in us.” is what Thomas told Audrey and I felt that with all my heart. He loves her so much, it's impossible not to love him for this reason simply.
Their relationship has grown so much after the third book and I admire it, it's the kind of love that everyone wants to feel once in a lifetime. Their partnership in crime is great too and this book shows just how good they work together in order to solve the worst cases of murder out there.
Characters
As you may already know, Thomas is amazing. He is such a lovable character and I can't get enough of him. I love the fact that the author has shown that Thomas is not a perfect man, that he has his flaws and his fears, but that's what makes him such an interesting and awesome character. Everything he says and does regarding Audrey Rose has left my heart in pieces, because that kind of love is just so strong and emotional. I loved reading about his thoughts and feelings of Audrey Rose.
Miss Wadsworth is one of the strongest female characters I've ever encountered. In a men's world, she doesn't let anything bring her down. Not the fact that she wasn't supposed to do a lot of the things that she's doing, not the fear of being judged by the society. She only cares about her love for Thomas and about solving the greatest mystery in America, the crimes of the devil.
My heart ached for her when she thought how being a woman was a bad thing in those times, because she was such a great character and she didn't deserve to be treated like she wasn't worthy of admiration.
Her saying “Can you imagine? Living in a place where you needn't require an escort to go anywhere?” made me so sad, because women have suffered so much in the past and are still suffering, even in 2020. They're considered weaker, worse than men. But Audrey Rose is the perfect example of how a woman can be better in so many ways than any man existing on this planet. She's fierce, strong and I love her for that and for protecting the ones she loves.
Final thoughts
This book is really, really good and it deserves even more than 5 stars. I loved every part of it and I am so sad that it's the final book in the series, because I NEED more of Thomas and Audrey Rose. I am happy that there was a happy ending for them though. Loved it, I highly recommend this book!
