This one has asexual, demi, autistic rep ππ» Started it and did such a double take when I saw the ace tags on the audiobook. It was very engaging, with the ace and autism parts written very well. Made me very happy to finally read a story with the revulsion bit of being ace written in. It also dealt with chronic pain that did not magically get cured. Tragic back stories and star trek fanfiction galore π
This book came up as recommended after I read The Tarot Sequence by K.D. Edwards, both being urban fantasy, both having queer rep π
This was great! Fast paced and lovely. The story is so creepy with cutesy bits thrown in. 5 mins in and Adam is in a soulmate AU fanfic β¨ While simultaneously fighting the demons of his past (aka his family). The elves were hilarious. There were some reveals that were so juicy π Vic's family wins the best family award π
This book is sponsored by driving π There's way too many cars, people driving cars, cars getting the crap beat out of them, car theft, thinking about car repairs.
Randomly found this on Storytel and decided to listen since I needed something lighthearted and easy to get through.
It was not that lighthearted but it was so much. I loved every minute of it. There's cuteness, heartbreak, healthy link discussions π I enjoyed this a lot. Idiots in love my beloved!
Aaahhhh this damn book! I have so many complaints!!!!
* This is not like the cruel prince at all. So a prince is cruel, but only for the last hour or so. That too wasn't shocking because you advertise the book as cruel prince and then nothing happens for majority of the book. Cruel Prince had so much going for it. This was leftovers of leftovers.
* The romance sucked! It wasn't insta love but it was also not built up properly.
* This wasn't a StAnDaLOnE?!? (This one's on me).
* Who is advertising all these romantasy books? 100 years of jail for you!
* You'd expect that a book advertised as being similar to cruel prince would have similar characters like Jude or Cardan. Nope.
A knife? A single knife? Nope.
Smart and cunning MC? Nope. (Bland)
Slow romantic build-up? Nope.
The only similarity was that it had faeries. Bram was soooooo boring. Whatever Emmett and Ivy had going on was beyond my comprehension. My ass is too demi for this.
The only good thing is that the audiobook was done well, chapters were short so I flew through them.
Future me, avoid the sequel! It's not worth it gurl.
Freedom, AT LAST!
3 stars (above bride and βοΈ book which are my hate measurement scale).
I did laugh at some parts of this. But the only thing that kept me going is reading with my book club bestie. Still not a fan of the way she writes sex scenes or physical features or descriptions of large hands (in every freaking book).
I think this one skipped the miscommunication trope which thank the lord!
Yeah there's so going to be a sequel isn't there. I read this thinking it was a standalone. Don't know if I wanna read more of this mess if the author doesn't improve her story telling skills. There's no other way to put it. The writing was weak.
I wanted dragons but without all the romance like fourth wing. What I got was a lot of dragons, but with a flaky MC, the story being all over the place, Viv annoying the crap out of me, little bit of romance, no heads or tail to anything.
Please make Viv less insufferable in the next book. Marquis was great! More of him and Karim please.
This was so cute! I bought it to give it away to a children's book club.
It's a cute story about a girl enrolled in a monster school, with Indian themes. Greek mythology references and a lot of βshow don't tell' going on in this which was very pleasing.
The art is also very cute. There's a bridge of bones, cows on the roads, Mr. Puu (reference to Tamil word Poochandi), Vandriver Hellsing, vampire (aka mosquito) children, electric rackets to electrocute them like we do here with mosquitoes lol.
There's 2 more so I'll read the whole thing and give it away as a gift
3.5 β
I don't know what I just read.
I liked the atmospheric descriptions but other than that, what even was this? All the characters need therapy. Our girl has an eating disorder. The discussions of too little, too much food, perfect body, the sweaters, plastic surgery, the scar made me feel so bad for her. I understand this is still a thing in Korea but we didn't even get a conclusion. Also, man just up and left? What about the food?
Jesus Christ! This was scary in a way I never expected it to be. But we met so many gentle and good people, and the geese.
Old people in love, my beloved! Give me more stories with people in their fifties being in love. It was such a breath of fresh air. Hester was my favourite in the book. The butler gets honorary mention for being there when needed most. Man did not bat an eye at the weirdest requests.
Not the traumatic horse story in the acknowledgements
(No spoilers)
This was my favourite of the secret projects, simply by being Stormlight adjacent. It was so much fun to read. Hadn't had this much fun in a while.
Fucked up worlds with the sun/moon being the source of problems, my beloved.
The hints start dropping from page 2 and don't stop. It was pretty easy to guess who Nomad was, but it was so enjoyable seeing little references to things we loved in other books. That did not make the other reveals hurt any less, or the ending!
My favorite side character was Adonalsium-will-remember-our plight-eventually (nicknamed AWROPE by yours truly), who did not show up again. Hope he survived the very many catastrophic events.Β
The only book which gave me a very strong urge to punch Hoid. Brandon will pay my therapy bill which is getting longer with every book!
Hello to burnt out software engineers and other office workers!
This book hit the right spot at the right time. I loved all the characters. Didn't think it would be a found family book(shop) but it was so nice how everyone had things they were dealing with but still trying their best every day. Very human.
The translation was very good and didn't feel weird or clipped like some other older translations I've read. The book to read if you want to run away and open a bookshop because that's exactly what happened in this.
This book almost pulled βThe Hero of Ages' at me. I was screaming till I wasn't. Thank youuuuuu for not making me read the ending in a haze of tears!!! Anyway, this is the best book I've read in a while. The writing style, the story, the narrative style, the characters, they were all amazing. It's a bit confusing in the beginning but it pays off tenfold if you stick with it. The tortoise
My first audiobook in months?! This was so engaging from the beginning, considering it starts with books and a library (and a talking plant)! It was cosy as advertised, and warm and fuzzy. Found family FTW! Would definitely recommend this as a light-hearted read with fantasy elements and good neighbours.
Finally done! This was sooo goooood. Surprised at all the bad reviews I keep seeing. The ending blew my mind.
This was pretty darn good. I don't know what is up with the bad reviews I keep seeing for this book. It had way more heart, intrigue and feelings than that stupid five broken blades book that everyone keeps waxing poetics about but is just filled with horny teenagers. Anyway, not to get sidetracked, Luiza was such a bad ass. Loved how everyone once in a while, the callused hands were brought up and played a role in the story.
I also saw someone describe Santangel as an old man and just
