This book was so good. I love a slow burn that is actually well executed. Wren is the strong female character that I adore. We see her love for her family and how she struggles with finding herself and it's beautiful. 4 star read for me because it did seem to drag at times. It does give HadesxPersephone vibes but not in the GrumpyxSunshine way. Boreas and Wren are both strong, protective, and set in their ways. Think A Touch of Darkness with more plot but less spice.
You know those books you want to love but you just don't? Well that was this book for me. I love the idea but the execution didn't do it for me. It was okay but I don't care enough about the characters or the world to continue the series
What I did like:
I am in love with both Naomi and Finn. They are both such well rounded characters and I loved their individual journeys as well as their romantic journey. IMO romance books work best when we fall in love with the characters individually before they fall in love with each other and Deanna made me do that.
I am not a thriller/horror person but the was I absolutely devoured this book. Good lord.
The narrator was fantastic, it had the creepy Appalachian vibes I was hoping for and I loved every minute.
This is one of the best love stories I have ever read. It was sweet, emotional, funny, and it was low angst.
Delicious read
✨Possible Spoilers✨
I'm Absolutely obsessed with the I hate everyone but you trope and Sophie absolutely nails is with the bad boy exterior, cinnamon roll interior that is Miko when it comes to Nessa.
I am never let down when I read a Sophie Lark book. The tension between Miko and Nessa, how they bring out each other's strengths, and the proposal and their wedding vows could melt the coldest heart.
It's a 10/10!
Stolen at Sea was my first read of the year and I'm still thinking about it.
Real talk, historical romance is not even in my top 5 sub genres of romance. It's often hard to connect to the characters which makes it hard for me to connect with the book. Summer is obviously a witch, because I could NOT put this book down.
Sloane is not your damsel in distress heroine. She doesn't want to be married off to some uppity man, she just wants the chance to run her fathers business without having to hide behind a curtain. So when her father promises her hand in marriage she takes fate into her own hands and runs with it, literally.
O captain! My captain!
A book hasn't made me cry since I read A Walk to Remember when I was a teenager, until I read this book. I laughed, I cried, and Just like The Matchmaker planned, I fell in love. I was so close to DNF-one this book (which is why it has 4 stars and not 5) but I am so glad I didn't. THIS is what I want in a dark romance. The characters didn't just fall in love, they WORKED for it. And they deserved that HEA.
Friends to lovers isn't normally my jam but apparently boss/employee > scandal > friends > lovers is totally my jam.
This is the SLOWEST BURN but it was so worth it and I absolutely love Emma and Jo
I love Jessie. I love how chaotic and real this book was. The teenagers acted like real teenagers And the ending was very cute. I think teenage Suz would have LOVED this book.
Adult Suz had some issues 😅
I didn't love that Cat was basically a stereotype of the “slutty, mean friend” from every movie and show we grew up with in the 90s and early 2000s. It's 2024(well 2023 when this was published) but we can and should be doing better than that.
The middle was a bit of a slog. I found myself getting frustrated with the back and forth of the love triangle because it felt a bit repetitive. But I'm also not the biggest fan of love triangles (they're not even triangles??? They're more of a caret ^)
I also don't understand why she wasn't continuing with her therapist or psychologist? She sees her once after her diagnosis and then that's it and it's never addressed?????
Started out silly and fun but wound up being abusive and enraging. I'll never find out if bonny apologizes to Valentine because I cannot listen to another minute of this so I'll just write my own ending.
Utterly disappointing
Graphic description of suicide
While there is a trigger warning for suicide at the beginning of the book I was wholly unprepared to experience the MCs brother committing suicide right in front of her. This is no fault to the author as they did their due diligence with their tw list
Well this book is my entire personality now and I'm in desperate need of the next book. All of the relationships in this book were so well done (blood family, found family, romantic, All. Of. Them). The ‘build as you go' world building is my personal fave and I loved the folklore of the world. Easy to follow, fun, engaging, and the best kind of dramatic.
Y'all this might be my favorite Sophie Lark book I've read so far. I love the relationship between Snow and Sasha but it's their characters individually that really got me. Sophie puts some much care and effort into creating her characters and bringing them to life it amazes me every single time.
I love when a book live up to the hype for me.
These 3 idiots have become some of my favorite characters and I love them so much. The tension between them was immaculate.
And the plot kept me on my toes the whole time.
I loved this
This was really cute. The only reason it's not a 5 star is because as a 29yr old i didn't really connect and it didn't give me enough emotions to make it a 5 in my books
