I wish I had DNF'd this but I was listening to it while I worked and didn't have a back up audiobook.Â
Why I didn't like this book:Â
The characters were flat, the interactions were flat, the story felt like a checklist, the romance felt like a random afterthought and was very cringy. Overall it was just a very bland book to me.
Angel is the book boyfriend of my dreams!
I was hooked just by the dialogue alone! their banter is top tier and I love them so much. This was my first official Regency Romance Read and I am so glad I found this series. the characters and that PLOT TWIST. ugh. if I were a re-reader I would definitely be rereading this.
+Thank you so much for the ARC!+
Jonas: The loml, Protective AF, Cinnamon Roll AND Daddy
Tillie: Strong AF, Do No Harm; Take No Shit
My HEART.
Jonas and Tillie have cemented themselves in my soul and my top 5 favorite couples.
Jonas and Tillie fit together so seamlessly and the way that they grow together is so beautiful. They are stolen away from everything and everyone they know but continue to fight for the only reason that matters, the safety of the other.
The character development of not only Jonas and Tillie but the supporting characters as well shows just how much time and love that Summer puts into her books.
And the SPICE, Lord have mercy. She makes him BEG. We love a good groveling scene.
10/10 I'm obsessed.
I have never felt more connected to a character than I did with Chloe Brown.
Chloe is plus size and has a non-visible chronic illness which comes with chronic pain. After a near death experience, she decides that she is no longer going to live in fear and coddle herself due to her illness
What I really loved was her internal monologue about dating as someone with chronic pain. The constant fear of being rejected by family, friends or lovers because you're not able to do the the same way or live up to social standards of what is expected in any form of a relationship.
Seeing the relationship between Chloe and Red develop and watching them help one another grow was absolutely amazing.
This is a must read, 10/10
I was not obsessed with this. Don't get me wrong, it's good! But I didn't absolutely love it.
I loved the tension and banter but otherwise this book fell flat for me. While it was still a good read, it was very basic.
Ethan was so so back and forth and had so many secrets. It seemed like every time Olive tried to talk to him about something important it was like talking to a brick wall. He wouldn't see the truth even if it slapped him in the face and claimed to love Olive but would just shrug off her concerns.
There was a good amount of character development for Olive which I really enjoyed.
Overall this book did not live up to the hype and I am very sad about that.
We're there some things in the writing I didn't love? Yes but I didn't dislike it either. This was still a 5 star read for me.
Eros is everything I want in an anti hero. We love a Grumpy Boi. He is stuck in the fact that he doesn't deserve someone as good as Psyche and due to his family/childhood trauma he doesn't really understand what's going on with himself.
Psyche is the character all us fat girls can relate to and look up to. She teaches herself how to ignore the whispers (and shouts) about her body image and turns it into a positive platform to inspire others.
This story is everything. Marriage of convenience, sort of enemies to lovers, plus size representation, there trauma and drama, and everything in between. I'm absolutely in love with this series.
