Huh. It's weird, definitely weird. Sam Spade meets Animal Farm meets Brave New World. Complex mystery, plenty of characters, some of whom could use more backstory, but plenty of world-development. This might actually need some digesting...
I read the previews so I knew this was a short one, I would say it's a bit boring in places and with a distinctly “side quest” feel, but it does progress the larger story arc so that's good I guess.
Liked this, but hard to say why. Not a lot of emotion or interpersonal stuff, lots of logistics and tactics. Hmm. But, nevertheless, I DID like it.
I love this series. Just love it, in spite of an almost total lack of supernatural or fantastical elements. :)
Loved this. Good, complex story, many facets, and introduction of new and different creatures without them taking over the story entirely.
Complex, well-built world with lots of potential, story was a little too dark for me, hopefully the next one has some comic relief!
Y'know, I'd taken a break from this series, and I wasn't sure how easy it'd be to get back into it. The answer is: EASY! This was really fun, all your favorite occasional-but-interesting characters all in one place showing their talents and ...yeah, really liked this one. :)
I like this! New creatures new Canon and a complicated story with a good setting. I'm glad I have the other two books already :)
I like these. Although this one is starting to lean towards “Anita Blake queen of the everything”. Which is not my favorite method of plot resolution, discovering a new talent.
Story was a bit odd, rather disorganized and lacking the feeling of closure or satisfaction I'm used to from the prior books. I think I'll follow along for the next book and see what I think after that.
Repeat “read” via Audible. Still love it, and the new one is out, need to get through the next couple quick!! :)
The myth-fantasy plot was confusing, and the romantic subplot looked an awful lot like “abused shunned guy fell head over heels with the first woman who was kind to him” which isn't actually very romantic (or realistic!).
Not quite ready to quit the series completely yet, but ...definitely not my favorite.
Interesting! Good list of guidelines whether you're normal and doubting yourself, a clutterer, or a full-on hoarder, plus a lot of ways to change how you think about things to encourage yourself NOT to clutter/hoard. Worth a listen! :)
I almost want to take a star off for missing Belinda. But the story was good, and the ending was unexpected.
