I really wish that these were all stories of Saints' lives, not few random tales about their miracles, because we learned the actual ones from other books.
mixed feelings on this one.
it is written well and packed with meaning on these hundred and few pages, even if some parts are a little bit on the nose. However, the beginning of the second part is so painfully tailored to the Western reader, and feels really out of place, especially compared to the later descriptions of all the little differences of life on both sides of the wall. Ma'am, I assure you, anyone who picks this books is aware of the occupation, and even if they are not, it's much more powerful to read the descriptions of all of it written like it's a normal part of life, instead of coquettish “oh, I hope it's not too awkward to mention we live under the occupation, wink wink”.

i złamało mi serce ogłoszenie, że to ostatnia część cyklu wrocławskiego.
ale wiecie co? Po zakończeniu tutaj myślę o tym ze spokojem, bo przecież nie mogło być inaczej.
mogło być lepiej, zgadzam się z Lobo w całej rozciągłości jeśli chodzi o książkę z dwóch części, przydałoby się tak może ze sto stron więcej, żeby cały emocjonalny ciężar miał szanse odpowiednio wybrzmieć.
ale to, że mogło być lepiej nie znaczy, że nie połknęłom całości w kilka godzin, gryząc palce. Cykl wrocławski to moja ulubiona część twórczości Marty Kisiel, i nawet biorąc pod uwagę wszystkie wady i niedociągnięcia trzepie mnie wszędzie i po całości.
z oceną gwiazdkową wstrzymam się do następnego czytania. Bo wrócę do tej książki, nie raz, nie dwa i nie dziesięć.
po następnym czytaniu, dwa miesiące później (11.05.2020): to mogła być lepsza książka. Zupełnie mi to nie przeszkadza.
niemalże warowałam pod drzwiami od wczoraj, bo przecież JUŻ POWINNO BYĆ GDZIE TA PACZKA zajechała dziś, kiedy nie było mnie w domu. Tylko wyjęłam łyżwy do wyschnięcia, usiadłam i za tym jednym posiedzeniem przeczytałam.
no dobre to jest, po prostu. Cały cykl jest dla mnie obłędnie ważny, i tylko grzeje w serduszko, że każda kolejna odsłona jest lepsza.

są fragmenty, które mnie zachwyciły. I na finiszu wszystko nabiera sensu. Tylko zanim dotoczymy się do finiszu, musimy przebić się przez absurdalne ilości dramy, której można byłoby uniknąć, gdyby. Bohaterowie. Ze sobą. Porozmawiali. Ja naprawdę nie cierpię tego zabiegu fabularnego.
Bez oceny, bo nie jestem w stanie zdecydować, czy silniejsza jest moja irytacja, czy oczarowanie rzeczami, które mi się podobały.
frunie się przez to, i jest mi naprawdę szkoda, że nie dawkowałam sobie bardziej, bo to bardzo porządna antologia jest, żadne z opowiadań nie schodzi poniżej pewnego poziomu, a kilka z nich chętnie przeczytałabym w dłuższej formie.
tylko po co te strony z cytatami w środku każdego tekstu?
I should have liked it more.
at first I thought it was main character. That I have to literally push through text because I don't find her interesting. But then, about halfway through, I suddenly flew, and it was great! Until chapter 35, which felt like watching unnecessary long action and explosion sequence in a movie.
The pacing murdered this book for me and I am sad, because there are bits I really like! Alas.
that was way more fun than I have expected, enough that I ordered actual books before I finished this one.

pacing at the beginning kinda threw me off, but overall still enjoyabe enough.
but. Dear author. Did you really had to name a character “Hello”?
why did I start reading a book series that is not finished yet?
beside that I am delighted, 4,5.
4,75, for the pacing was weird at times.
that was EERIE, in the most wonderful way. Love and respect for people and folklore put in writng those books can be compared only to Deathless, which I love breathlessly.

solidne 3,5. Bardzo różnorodny zbiorek, żadne z opowiadań nie schodzi poniżej pewnego poziomu, kilka perełek (Lekcja samotności!). I żar-ptak, żar-ptaka zawsze wezmę.

it was actually much more enjoyable than I expected. Well, aside of kinda ridiculous and kinda irritating misuse of Russian words. But overall entertaining enough.

jak pierwsza część była radosną eskapistyczną fantazją, tak ta bardzo często puka bardzo blisko domu. Obie pochłonęłam gryząc palce, obie zostaną ze mną w bardzo konkretny sposób. Potrzeba nam więcej takich książek.

I still have to reread few books in the series and a couple to read for the very first time, but this actually might be my favourite.
