I really enjoyed the first part of this book. I didn’t want to put the book down and it was pretty hooking the whole way through but I was especially excited in the beginning because it gave “you” vibes. The character Alex originally reminded me of Joe Goldberg. Though in the second part I didn’t love the direction the story was taking and especially didn’t like the ending. They definitely romanticized stalking, the end letter making that extremely apparent. “Stalking just shows true love” which I mean it could just be like oh yeah she’s crazy and that’s the point but I just hope no guy reads this and thinks that the results that come from stalking in this book would be reality. Also the decisions made by some people frustrated me. With all that though I still really enjoyed the book, it was extremely entertaining and I’d re read it and recommend it.
I was worried this book would be repetitive… and it was.
Same plot as twilight but Edwards POV and obviously he thinks too much about everything so it’s double as long and double as boring and I really didn’t enjoy it. Multiple times I wished I could DNF it gets this rating because it is still the plot that I found kind of interesting in twilight so if I didn’t read it so close I might have found it more interesting. I really don’t know I think it was too dragged out and Edward thinks about the same things over and over.
I definitely enjoyed this one. Wrapping everything up so perfectly. I’ve never been so happy with how a series has ended. Usually I either feel like they wrapped it up wrong or I feel like I just want to keep knowing so much more. But the way this was wrapped up I feel like I know exactly how it’ll go without them telling me and it was perfect. The fight would’ve been cool to see but I was still impressed with how the scene went. I was interested the whole time, connected to all the characters. I loved the change in POV although Jacob did get a bit annoying and repetitive they stopped it just in time. Really just well done final book. I recommend!
I hated how it was written, I hated the characters, I hated the insta love and trauma bonding. Just really didn’t like this book.
I have a rule to get great surprises from books that I don’t read the backs, however that worked out worse for this book in specific since I wasn’t expecting all of the suicide talk and I really am not in the right frame of mind to be hearing all of those details. So just warning you if you don’t feel ready , don’t read it. But also probably don’t read it anyway because it’s not like there was anything I enjoyed about it.
I really enjoyed reading this but the love triangle was a rollercoaster. Before this book I thought I love Jacob I wish that was her choice, then start of this book I was like nvm Jacob sucks too, then somehow I was like actually I like them both towards the end.
The action was really good, that parts a 5 star.
It was well written a fast read and I recommend.
I enjoyed it, quite a few frustrating decisions but I am thinking of how amazing it would have felt to read this when I didn’t know the entire plot because of the movies. Some of her feelings were difficult to read because I understood them as well. But overall I’m enjoying it. It has flaws so it’s not the best but I’d recommend it. Also team Jacob even though I know that can’t happen I love Jacob.
It gives Walter white vibes.
Just like in breaking bad the evil of what he does consistently getting worse just made me so mad and sad that I just couldn’t enjoy the book. I stress out reading stuff like this. But clearly it was well written to give me these emotions. Hence the 2 stars even though I hated reading it haha. The only character I liked was Jacob who in my eyes is the Jesse pinkman but I mainly felt pity for Jacob. So once again no good emotions. I like some variety.
In the beginning it was hard to not just imagine the movie, but as I got into the book it was easier and the book was more enjoyable. I definitely prefer the book over the movie as the usual case is. I still don’t love how insta love it is. Like it doesn’t take long to say they’ll love eachother forever which is a very teen thing to do except one of them is almost 100. Other than that I enjoyed it.
I was hooked all the way through, I loved the relationships between the friends. The mystery was fun to work out. However I hoped there was a bit more of a twist to the ending it was a bit predictable. Though still very enjoyable book. I’m not sure of the writing style. It seemed a bit confused sometimes. It’s a multi pov book and each pov was that characters thoughts however sometimes it was talking more to the reader, like a diary entry but it’s supposed to be thoughts. It was still good but I felt like that was a bit confused.
Yeah, enjoyable in terms of the action and plot. I hoped that there would maybe be a bit of romance so that finally something different can happen cause it was just like action, action, action, men are great. But if you’re someone who enjoys action yeah it’s good. It’s really good at being able to visualize what’s going on.
I first read this book 5 years ago, when I first got into reading adult books regularly at 13. I was obsessed after reading the hunger games and this being called the dying game I think I though I was getting something similar - just so you know it’s nothing like the hunger games but that would be obvious if you read the blurb - when I read it I remember loving it so much and recommending it to everyone. I was so shocked by the twists and told myself that I will read it again once I forgot it. Now I had forgotten everything I read it, it was okay. I really just felt eh about the whole way through. I don’t think I’d recommend this for people to read but I’ll keep it just in case someone wants to try I mean I used to love it. It did have twists that I couldn’t guess they just didn’t go in the direction I really cared about and I didn’t like that it ended the way it did.
I'm not sure what to think, I've enjoyed the entire home series so much. However I don't tend to like a you choose your ending book. The ending felt a tiny bit rushed. But i can't say I didn't enjoy this book overall, it was very entertaining I really liked the new villain. I was actually happy with this one dying this time. I'm glad some of the government got some payback as well. Yeah I can't say too much with spoilers, this is probably and surprisingly one of the least emotional books in the series. Usually I cried to the books and this one I was shocked at times, the deaths were terrifying and things i definitely loved from past books but I just didn't feel like it was everything I would've wanted from the last book. I will still 100% recommend this entire series and spinoff to everyone though. I need to have more people to talk to about it.
I loved it, it was surprisingly a very emotional read for me towards the end. This book is so great for thinking about powers you would've never heard of. Not the usual basics and I love it! I feel like I wasn't supposed to feel bad for the bad people but I did and I was so sad when things happened to them because of being in the head of them and yes they did bad things but the dark watchers attacking vulnerable people really is what's bad here.
It was a good book, the twists were great. I just was pretty bored until the first twist that came almost middle of the book. The ending wasn’t everything I wanted. It felt a bit rushed compared to the rest of the story however it was enjoyable just not something I would praise and get everyone to read.
It’s a great book, I love that it’s more from the gone series and I love the new powers and just the crazy ideas of what the powers could be and just new kinds of powers however I didn’t feel as connected to these characters as I did during the gone series other than the ones that are the OGs. I hope that that’s just because it is the first book and it’ll change but when things happen it feels like it makes less of an impact on me. The powers are insane and so cool though. Just losing the mystery and having it as a straight action book means I like it a bit less as well.
The end felt like just a very dragged out poetic romance. It's a fine story just nothing too interesting.
It was pretty slow and the Scottish accent was hard to read at times unless you sounded it out aloud. I sound pretty dumb though. It felt like that party game where it's gibberish and you sound it out to guess what it says. Though the twist at the end was incredible and made a slow story worth it.
It's a nice story, I went and told my grandma that the man that wrote Dracula wrote a short story on forgiveness to enter in the gates of heaven. Definitely seems like something that would be in the Bible. Was written nicely as well.
Really good tense short story, you're so curious on how it's going to end and I love the ending.
I wish that the evil kids got the worst payback imaginable but I guess the fact that they were only awarded plays into the story's darkness.
My current favorite writing from bram stoker, after reading the lair of the white worm I didn't want to read anything more from him but this was really good, the last pages actually scared me and more then both Dracula and draculas guest ever did. The writing really put me into the terrifying situation and I loved the ending. Really recommend this read.
Don't read this, this book took me so long to read cause it caused a billion reading slumps. I just don't know how to DNF a book but I would've if I could. I just have it in my mind I have to finish every book I start and this one was the worst one l've ever read. The racism in this book even if it's just showing the time and how horrible it was back then was sickening. I don't know how it's still being published. The writing itself was badly done. The pacing was all over the place they'd go into pages of some useless stories and then the actual important parts were summed up in a paragraph. The ending was rushed like the rest of the important parts. I can't imagine a book worse than this one. Glad it's over.
