This is such an amazing book, I was sucked in from the first page. My boyfriend bought it for me and I can't wait to make him read it. The entire time you're thinking one thing and then that twists and then you think another thing and that twists. There's just so many twists and I actually love the way it's done. I usually spoil in my reviews but for this book I could never, you have to read this with no idea what's coming and get on the rollercoaster cause omg I was gasping in the train whenever I read this. It's also so incredible reading it on the train because I'd pass the stops that were mentioned in the book as I live in Auckland. Loved feeling connected in that way. I honestly think this book is on my list of favorites and I can't wait to try and forget it so I can read it again and be just as shocked the whole way through. You will not want to put this book down. I just can't recommend it more.
The main story , I am legend was okay. I was pretty bored at times and it was a slow read and pretty repetitive but it had sections towards the end I was more interested in.
Buried talents was the next short story and no , I have no idea what happened but I didn’t like reading it to get absolutely nothing except questions out of it.
The next short story is called the near departed , kind of just a basic story. Waste of time I thought.
Prey was next average better than near departed but nothing too special.
Witch war was one that was an alright story but I didn’t like how it was written.
Dance of the dead I hated the way it was written, I couldn’t read it at all and I physically couldn’t finish this short story. It was 2pm and I couldn’t stay awake because of this book.
Dress of white silk was interesting, a fascinating way to tell the story. Written from a child’s POV so it reads like a child wrote it.
Mad house was my favorite story out of all of them in this book although I wouldn’t say it was great I did enjoy relating to the anger by many small things adding up and the way the story went was an interesting turn. It was a bit slow but it worked for the story.
The funeral just was boring
From shadow places was interesting, I read the whole thing without feeling bored like most of these stories make me feel.
And person to person the beginning was fascinating but towards the end it got eh.
Was a bit hard for me to keep track of all the clues and so I struggled with my suspicions, which I realize is probably why I enjoy the series and movies more. With my memory issues. Though when it was all summarized in the end I was shocked as anyone else would be, I don't want to spoil anything In this review as I wish that everyone reads this and gets as surprised as I was. Incredible ending I ran around telling everyone the story.
I struggled to continue reading this book. But I continued for the hope that I would enjoy it more by the end, that I might understand it better. Though the ending was disappointing. The writing is well done but the story itself is not something that I enjoy. There still was a few interesting parts but I'm just glad I've finished it and I can move onto a new book.
This was incredible. I’m not a fan of a haunted house book but this one was done in such a good way with a some great twists. I couldn’t guess them at all and it’s not like they came out of thin air. I really really recommend this if you want a thrilling book. I’d say so much more about what I like but I don’t want to spoil a thing!
Okay, this book was a disappointment for me. I didn’t like the main character the whole way through but the mystery was keeping me interested, until the “twists” came in the most lazy fashion ever. The ending felt rushed and thoughtless. I was bored in so many parts I felt like was supposed to be thrilling. I’m sorry but this really made me upset because a lot could have been done with this story and it just really disappointed me. It’s not like it was super easy to find out the twists, the way they mapped it out for us made it feel like we were dumb. The beginning of the mystery was good though, I enjoyed any other character.
A really well written and enjoyable sci-fi like horror. I loved the stories on the disease in the world, the monster in the deep and the well done gore. But most of all I loved that I was never like LUKE WHY DID YOU DO THAT?! he always did things that I thought were either smart, or were human and understandable. This is currently my favorite horror book, and would probably be my favorite horror movie if you can handle animal cruelty , body horror and an evil mum you should read this !
The art was beautiful, I loved the slightly merged stories. It was gory and fascinating. I loved it. I hope to read alot more Junji Ito.
Somehow a bunch of boys walking is so interesting.
A really well written book but thats no suprise because it is Stephen king. I was hooked the whole way through, I felt like I knew the characters and was attached to the story and it hurt me whenever a musketeer died. Such an interesting dystopian world. The idea that the mind is what really pushes you the furthest is something I’ve always been interested in and the way that it’s depicted in this book is incredible. I recommend.
I wouldn't read this again, the best part of it was the romance and that was a small sub plot. I didn't like any of the decisions the main character made. Not my kind of book really. I liked the ending but again the actual main plot didn't really interest me.
There was many slow parts of this book, that were quite boring. Also pages which I could barely understand. Although the action parts were very well written. It took me a while to finish this book as when I got bored I had to take breaks. But I feel happy that now I can say that I've read this classic and can give my own opinon on this story.
I was completely baffled on who was doing the murders but even so I was so interested on who was going to die next and how they were going to stick to the nursery rhyme. I want to read the new version because I have the 1970 crime collection publish so it's with the original name and I want to know if the new name also changes much of the contents as well as there was quite a bit of words in there. I love how it was revealed at the end in a message in the bottle.
Holy shit! Incredible, well written, THRILLING book.
I think I had adrenaline running through me the whole time I read this. I don't think l've read in third person before but it made it feel like I'm watching them and hearing their thoughts rather than actually the character of the book.
Not one moment of this book was slow. I was hooked from the start. The twists shocked me and trust me I was trying not I guess and I still couldn't get it, they also didn't come out of nowhere. I just definitely recommend this to everyone!
Wow. I struggle to read the Americans dialect/accent but I can get the gist of it. If you want to read gore and shock horror. This is the short story for you. I wasn't expecting this going into it. It did make me cry a bit that animals were harmed I'd prefer if that was left out of it but I understand why it was in it it's just so much harder to read then a man being harmed or dying. It was well written and shocking. I recommend it if you can handle it.
A lot happened in this book. It did begin to stress me out in not a good way at one point. Thats why I removed a bit of a star but other then that it was incredible. The story was gripping , the mystery unraveling it ended with a really hooking chapter so I have to read the next book immediately. I love finding out more about this world and I am just so attached to the characters.
I read this book when I was a lot younger and I just remember how it really scared me as a kid. SPOILER - The girl getting hit with a bat being the most memorable part of the book for me. Now that I'm older I'm interested in finding books that are scary and when I started to read this and found that part to be less scary although as I continued to read a lot of the parts began to give me chills. SPOILER - for example the kids that slow-mowed the boy disappearing, and seeing that it was a monster terrifying looking thing yet he was greeting it with a warm hug. That definitely was like wow chills for me aha. I really enjoyed the book and I'm excited to read the next one.
It was slow most of the time, the chase however was tense but I feel as though I didn't get any interesting story from this.
I can't even say how much I love this book. This series is the best series l've ever read. I've cried and laughed and been angry along with all of these amazing characters and this book just tied everything up so incredibly. It's so hard to leave these characters behind and I really don't want to.
This book is emotional and leaving this series makes it even more difficult. I can't wait to re read this series. I'll always recommend it so they can feel the way I have. I can't think of a single series I've loved more than this.
So so so good. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. It's so easy to read, you can't put it down. You get transported into the story. I think these books will always be my reread to get me out of a slump book because these remind me why I love reading. This book had alot of answers , there's still questions. But the figuring out what's going on and the twists are so good. I will always recommend this series !
I enjoyed the book, probably least favorite of the series so far though. It definitely gives some great things that I've learnt though to do with the mystery of what's going on. Especially with the outside perspective. I was so excited when I saw that. with it being pitch black most of the time it wasn't so fun for my imagination haha. Imagining barely seeing people and landscapes. I loved the last chapters though , the later chapter being really emotional for me.
I really enjoyed the book, I got really invested. I enjoyed it more then the first because it was an answer to so many questions. We got to see more kids use powers and get stronger with them. We got to see how kids created a government and how they controlled the horrible situation of famine. It was really well written I enjoyed the way that I was always wanting to know either how they will come up with the solution to this or if someone died. Like Drake shooting at Dekka I thought for sure she was dead but really Orc had saved her and again the Coyotes eating her, Diana hitting her head, Lana being part of the monster, Edilio being shot I thought omg they were all dead. But they didn't die. And the radiation! Except I really hope that Duck isn't dead and that he comes back in a later book.
The ending was just so good that it makes the whole book a need to read. The one person I thought ‘no it couldn't be' It was ! And the evidence behind it and what happened was just so well done. This is definitely a who dunnit for the pros to work out. I could just be dumb but it was so well done in my opinion.
