I admit I had no idea that Talia Hibbert wrote a paranormal romance novella until my friend Destiny recommended it to me recently for Tropeathon. I've read a few of her contemporary romances and really enjoyed them so I was looking forward to seeing what she would do with a paranormal romance.
It took me a little bit to fully get into this one but once things picked up they really picked up. I loved both of the main characters although Chastity did kind of make me want smack her a few times. I loved that it's a romance between a werewolf huntress and a werewolf. I loved seeing that dynamic. Their chemistry was obvious and I loved that Chastity communicated with her parents about what was going on even though it did take her a while to get to that point which leads me to my small complaint. I'm not a big fan of miscommunication/non communication. In this instance if she had talked to her parents sooner she wouldn't have had to suffer as long as she did. It was obvious to me what was going on from the beginning.
Overall it was an enjoyable read and I would totally read other paranormal romances novels by this author if she ever writes anymore.
I got this from NetGalley a while back because everyone was talking about it and I was having FOMO. The synopsis sounded intriguing enough but I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. Everyone I saw talk about it was raving about it. I went in excited but also scared because of the hype but I am so glad I finally read it because I loved it so much. The hype is definitely deserved. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher Peachtree Teen for providing me with an eCopy in exchange for my honest review.
I ended up buddy reading this with dbs_guide_to_the_galaxy we had planned to read 3 chapters a day and I managed to stick to that until I got closer to the end and I just couldn't make myself put it down anymore.
Ok so I was immediately sucked into this story. I loved that it's a book about asexual characters. I'm pretty sure this is my first book with asexual characters in it and I will admit that while the term isn't new to me I am still learning about what it means. This book was somewhat informative for a newbie like me but don't go into it expecting a full lesson in asexuality. I feel like this representation was done really well. We also get other representation like a deaf character but this could have been handled better.
This is described as a heist book but I would say it's heist light. They do attempt a heist but these are teenagers that are in way over their heads so what can they really do. Don't go in expecting a heist the likes of Six of Crows. I loved the friendship dynamic and got so many laughs out of their banter. I especially loved the relationship between Jack and Remy. They are both Ace but over the course of the book they both come to terms with having a crush on each other which this book makes a point to say that there's an Ace spectrum and every Ace person is going to be different. This isn't a romance but you can't deny their connection from the very beginning.
Everything about this book worked for me. I loved it so much and I will for sure be looking into whatever else this author has written or will write.
I've been interested in reading this book since it was released earlier this year but it's not my go to genre so it was never high on my priority TBR so I am so glad that Destiny and I decided to buddy read it together because I really enjoyed it.
This was my first book by this author and I did go in being a little skeptical because everyone I saw talking about it kept saying it was ok but it wasn't their favorite book by him. Because of this I pretty much went in with little to no expectations and in the end it exceeded my expectations by a lot.
I can tell you now that my review isn't going to be for you if you're wanting to know how scary or creepy this book was because to me it wasn't either. I totally get why people would be creeped out by puppets and dolls but I've said this before on my blog things that are supposed to be scary or creepy just aren't for me. That goes for movies to. I find them to be more predictable and funny. While I would say this follows that predictable vein it was still a fun wild ride.
The book starts out with Louise getting a phone call from her estranged brother Mark. He's giving her the news that both her parents have died. Right from the moment that Mark is introduced I hated his character so much. Louise slowly started to get on my nerves after a while but luckily they both have a good bit of character growth throughout the book.
Louise and Mark both get bad vibes from the house but both of them won't admit it to the other one because of their animosity toward each other. Louise being so adamant about how there's nothing going on with the house is what started to get on my nerves after a while. They both just wanted to get in and get rid of everything as quick as possible but for Mark a lot of the stuff holds sentimental value for him and the house itself has other plans.
I did get a little teary eyed at one point in this book which I wasn't expecting at all since this is a horror book. Overall I really enjoyed this one and I can't wait to pick up something else by this author.
I read The Risk last year but I decided to reread it before continuing on in the series this year just so things were fresh in my mind when jumping into the second book. Destiny and I had planned to buddy read the entire series as part of our 29 in 29 challenge we are attempting this month but after reading the first book she decided to DNF the series but I continued on with them.
This is a 5 book series and each of the books are less than 200 pages and can easily be read in one sitting. I was instantly hooked after reading book one and very intrigued by the premise. I don't think I've ever read a book where there is a romance between and FBI agent and a serial killer. I really needed to know how this could possibly work out.
From the first book you can tell that something happened to Lana when she was younger. We don't know the full extent but we get a good idea of what it was. It isn't until the 4th and 5th book where we find out the true extent of everything that happened. The author doesn't hold back on the details about what happened so please if you are someone who is easily triggered look into the triggers of this series before picking it up.
As I mentioned this is a romance between an FBI agent and a serial killer. Obviously Logan isn't aware that Lana is the killer he's been looking for. The romance is very insta love. Logan didn't start bothering me until the second book and from there on he did something in each of the books that annoyed me and pissed me off. I was most intrigued by finding out how a romance between a serial killer and an FBI agent could work and lets just say by the end I wasn't disappointed.
You definitely have to suspend disbelief while reading these books but it made for a fun read. Each book ends on a cliffhanger which was so frustrating for someone who hates cliffhangers. The final book was actually my favorite of all 5 books but as a whole the series get a 4 star rating from me.
This trilogy was a collaboration between Stephen King and Richard Chizmar. King cowrote the first book and the 3rd book with Chizmar but the 2nd books was written by just Chizmar. I'm not really sure why King opted out of writing the 2nd one.
I decided to write up a series review since I read all of these in one month back to back pretty much and they are all short quick reads and I pretty much had the same thing to say about each of them individually. I gave each of the books a 4 star rating and therefor the series is a 4 star overall rating as well. This was my first book by Chizmar and if you've been here for a while you know I've been on a King journey for like the past 2+ years.
Anyways lets get to my actual thoughts on the books. After finishing the first book I felt like we only got the first part of a story. Everything in the book was pretty much wrapped up but I felt like we were missing some things mostly involving the button box. I felt like Gwendy's overall story was wrapped up nicely but the button box was still a mystery to me. It does skip forward a lot in time so it was hard to keep up with everything at times.
For a book to be called Gwendy's Magic Feather the actual feather barely made an appearance in the book. I pretty much have the same feelings about this book that I did the first one. Gwendy's overall story was wrapped up but I still didn't get the answers I was wanting about the button box
In the last book there is talk about Trump and Covid and while I wouldn't say it's a bad thing to include real life things in books I don't particularly care to read about real time things in my books. I want to escape the real world when I read a book. The authors reference several of Kings past book. I can't remember all of the ones off the top of my head but I know there's references to IT and The Dark Tower as well as many others. While I don't think you necessarily need to have read all of those books you will definitely understand them more if you do especially with The Dark Tower. Speaking of the Dark Tower I wish these books didn't have so much to do with The Dark Tower. If you didn't know I am not a fan of that series overall. We are still left with unanswered questions some of which didn't pop up until this book and some that I've had from the very beginning. I did also get a little teary eyed at this end of this one.
Overall an enjoyable trilogy to read but don't expect to finish it with everything being wrapped up nice and neat with a bow.
Destiny and I started this series and we became so obsessed with it that we had to read all of the books that are out so far. We read the first book and the novella in August and then this book we finished this month and I can't wait for the next book to be published. Last warning that this review is going to have spoilers for the first 2 books so if you haven't read them yet please skip this review.
So this book is the conclusion of Oraya and Raihn's story which I am kind of sad about because I love them so much but I am excited to follow other characters in the series that I have come to love as well. In this book we get both Oraya's POV and Raihn's POV which I really loved. We didn't get his POV in the first book and I didn't realize how much I wanted it until I started reading it. Each section had an interlude which talked about Raihn's past which I again loved because several of my questions were answered while reading those.
This book picks up where the first book left off and lets just say I am not happy with hw Raihn went about doing things. He was essentially doing the same thing to Oraya that Vincent did to her. I understand why he was doing what he did but I think he could have went about it in a totally different way. As for Oraya her back and forth about her feelings for Raihn and how she didn't want to admit it even though it was glaringly obvious really was kind of annoying but she did the same thing with Vincent in the first book.
This book is action packed, steamy and intense and I just loved every single thing about it and highly recommend. I hope we will get more of these characters in the next books but I am also looking forward to following other characters.

I sprang this on Destiny very last minute so thank you for being up to buddy reading it with me.
This book was perfect for this time of year. It's such a cozy, wholesome, magical and cute book and I just loved it. I didn't realize it until Destiny brought it up but this definitely gives me TJ Klune vibes. Specifically The House in the Cerulean Sea. This is a story about acceptance, found family and self love. It has the grumpy/sunshine trope which I really enjoy.
I loved all of the characters introduced in this book however there were 2 standouts for me. The first one being Terracotta which is one of the 3 kids she's supposed to be teaching how to control their powers. They get off on the wrong foot at no fault of Mika's but there are some hijinks that ensue and for the most part it's pretty funny. Then there's Ian. He is an eccentric retired actor in his 70s/80s but he definitely doesn't act his age. the banter between these characters is on point and the relationships built throughout was amazing. I wasn't expecting the reveals at the end and I love when that happens.
Overall I loved this book. It's such a cozy read and I highly recommend you giving this one a go if you haven't already.
Once again I have to thank Destiny for buddy reading these books with me. I had so much fun reading and discussing them with her.
My feeling for this one are pretty much the same as the other 2 books in this series however this one is my favorite of the 3. I think it's my favorite because while it is still pretty simplistic it was also slightly darker which I loved. This one was pulling at my heart strings in the end. I was afraid something was going to happen that I really didn't want to happen even though it probably should happen.
Middle grade isn't my age range of choice but despite these books being on the simplistic side I still really enjoyed reading them.
3.5 stars
I'm glad I finally continued on with this trilogy thanks to Destiny for buddy reading it with me. There's no telling when I would have finally got back into this series if it wasn't for her.
Like I said when I read the first book this is a middle grade book and I think for a middle grade book it is done well and I can see the age group that it is marketed to loving it but to me it was a little on the simplistic side. I still enjoyed following Cassidy and Jacob (her ghost best friend) but it wasn't mind blowing. It was easy and predictable but again just like the first book I loved the friendship between Cassidy and Jacob. I think that is my favorite thing in these books.
At the end of book 1 I was worried about where things were going to go with Jacob and we definitely get more on that in this book I'm just glad it didn't go in the direction I thought it was going to go at least not completely.
Overall another enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to reading the final book. I can't wait to see where these characters go next.
4.5 stars
Ok so I wasn't planning on reading this book this month but when it all of a sudden became available on Libby I had no choice unless I wanted to keep returning it and waiting for it over and over again until I was ready. I am so glad I decided to go ahead and read it because I really enjoyed it.
So we have Mariel Spark who at her birth was prophesied to be the most powerful witch in centuries of the famous Spark family but she is in her 20's and can't manage a summoning spell to save her life which is where Ozroth the Ruthless comes in. She is trying to summon flour and instead gets a demon. Ozroth deals in souls which means he can't leave until she gives him her soul which she is very adamant is never going to happen. And the story goes from there.
I don't want to get into to much detail because I think you should read it with as little information as possible like I did. I didn't even read the synopsis before picking it up. I loved Mariel as a character. I loved her personality so much. She the type who can be talking about something and then something will pop and her head and then she will start talking about that. I kind of found it to be funny at times. Ozroth is supposed to be this big bad demon but circumstances has changed him a bit. I love how they go from “enemies” to friends and then to lovers. I did see the conflict coming from a mile away but I didn't care. I will say I couldn't stand Mariel's family and I was so happy when Mariel finally started sticking up for herself.
Overall this was a laugh out loud enjoyable read and I can't wait for the next book to come out later this year in November.
This was the August pick for the Lost in Romance Book Club that I cohost with my friend Michelle. Each month we pick a book from different sub genres but they are all romance. I'm pretty sure this was my first book by this author and while this one wasn't a favorite I wouldn't be opposed to read other books by her.
I should also mention that I didn't read the first book in this series and while I don't typically like doing that in this case it was fine. If I'm not mistaken each book is about each sister so while there will be similar characters I don't think you necessarily need to know what happened in book 1 to read this one.
This is a second chance romance and there is a lot of miscommunication/non communication which drives me crazy. I can't stand when a book relies on characters not communicating so much. I understand there needs to be some form of drama but I just can't stand it. I also hated Nora's father with every fiber of my being and how Nora just unquestioningly took him for his word. I know this is a historical romance and I'm sure this was probably how things were in those days but I hated reading it.
I loved the romance between Nora and Titus. Their love for each other was just jumping off the pages and it spans decades. Nora is always self sacrificing for those she loves which is admirable but also very stupid and I'm sure her father used that to his advantage. Titus has been in love with Nora pretty much his whole life and while he took lovers he never really got over her. I loved Titus as the hero and how he loved Nora unconditionally.
Their relationship is what made this book tolerable for me and why I kept reading. I wish we would have gotten more of them together.
This is only my second book by this author duo and while it wasn't my favorite by them I did still enjoy it.
We get the witty banter that I loved so much in The Unhoneymooners but it wasn't as good as it was in that book. The chemistry between Carey and James is off the charts but we don't get enough of their actual relationship in my opinion. The majority of this book is about how Carey and James pretty much have to babysit their bosses Melissa and Rusty Tripp who are married and actually hate each other at this point. Carey has worked for the Tripp's for over a decade and James has only worked for them for a couple of months and both of them feel trapped for very different reasons.
I hated the Tripp's so much and the way they treated Carey and James. That's probably why I feel like this book was too much of them. Carey and James is what made this book for me even though like I already said we didn't get enough of their relationship. Carey needed to grow a backbone. She let the Tripp's walk all over her and that got under my skin from the very beginning. I wish she would have stood up for herself way sooner. James is very Charming. I liked how they went from disliking each other to loving each other and I loved how he pointed out things to Carey that she refused to see on her own. This also has Dystonia which I am not familiar with but I feel like it was handled really well. The ending did feel a little rushed but overall I did enjoy this book.
3.5 stars
This book wasn't even on my radar until it was recommended for one of the Romanceopoly prompts for 2023. I ended up enjoying this one but I also had a few issues with it as well.
My main issues with it is that it was a bit repetitive at times. I don't need to continuously be reminded that her grandma wouldn't approve or that they can't be together because of family expectations etcetera. My other issue was the family issues. This isn't necessarily a bad thing it just really got on my nerves how much Danica's grandma interfered with her personal life and how long Danica allowed this to happen. Clem, Danica's cousin also aggravated at times too especially when it was clear she was up to no good as well.
Aside from those annoyances I enjoyed the actual romance in this book. I thought Danica and Titus were equal part cute and awkward with some humor and steaminess thrown in. I do wish that there would have been a little more truth revealed in the end but I am hoping that things will be revealed throughout the series.

First I have to thank Destiny for continuing to buddy read with me. I just love being able to talk about all of these books with you.
We were initially going to jump straight into the second book in this series but Destiny saw where someone said you should read the novella before so we decided to do that just to be on the safe side. Basically this book introduces 2 characters that will have big parts in the following books so I would agree with everyone saying you should read this one first.
In this novella we are introduced to Lilith and Vale. Lilith's town has been cursed by a God. Everyone is slowly dying from some illness and Lilith being the scientist that she is isn't content to sit around and let it happen. Exhausting all their options she dares to do something no one else dares to do. I love how fearless Lilith is even though it can be considered to be reckless. Then enters Vale who is a Vampire. If you read the synopsis then you already know that Lilith goes to Vale and offers him a deal, 6 roses for 6 vials of his blood. I can't really go into more detail than that because of spoilers.
I loved the relationship between Vale and Lilith. I loved watching them go from strangers to more. I was confused at times when reading this but being able to talk it out with Destiny helped and by the end everything started to make sense. The only reason this book gets a 4.5 star rating instead of a 5 star rating like the first book did was because I was as obsessed with the romance in this one as I was in the first one. I think this was a really great introduction to these characters and I look forward to seeing where they go from here.
Thank you to Destiny for suggesting we buddy read this one because I am obsessed and I had so much fun discussing this book with you while we were reading it.
This was my first book by this author and it definitely won't be my last. I've actually already read a novella that is part of this series and I plan on picking up the second book in this series on Monday but I would also like to read her other books as well. I've been seeing this going around lately and I had a little interest in it and then Destiny suggested we buddy read it and of course I said yes because I will buddy read anything with her. I'm so glad we read this because I so get the hype and I need more of Oraya and Raihn like now.
Oraya is the adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king. This intrigued me from the get go and I wanted to know why an ordinary human was so special and well I got my answer. I have to say I never expected that to be the reason and I honestly still have some questions because some things were implied but we don't really know for sure so I am hoping we get a little more backstory in the next book.
Raihn is a vampire and he's an enemy to the Nightborn king. I loved getting to know Raihn with each chapter. Things were revealed about him that I didn't expect and I loved it although I'm not to happy with the way he handled things in the end so I'm really hoping he can redeem himself in the next book. I love Raihn and Oraya together and seeing them go from enemies to allies to lovers to... I just loved it.
I loved the tournament aspect of this book. The author definitely doesn't hold back on the gruesomeness so beware of that. I do wish we would have gotten a little more showing instead of telling with one of the side character but since it wasn't really about him I get why we didn't I just really liked this character.
This book to me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The last time I felt like this when reading a book was when I read November 9 by Colleen Hoover like 5+ years ago. These books have absolutely nothing in common aside from the way they made me feel. My emotions literally felt out of my control and I was very anxious reading it toward the end that I had to make myself put it down and save the last 2 chapters for the next day.
This book was perfection in my opinion and if you haven't read it yet I highly recommend you do. If you love fantasy romance with enemies to lovers and vampires and magic with some gore and steaminess thrown plus so much more give this book read.
First off I want to thank the author for reaching out to me asking me to review her book in exchange for my honest review. She sent me an eCopy of the book but unfortunately the formatting was all messed up for me but luckily I was able to find it on Scribd so it all worked out in the end. Also this is going to be a spoilery review so if you are interested in reading it you might want to skip this.
This is the authors memoir about her struggle with alcohol and drugs. The first chapter opens up with her relapse and every chapter after that details the events of each day. Not only does Dianne struggle with addictions but she also has a mental health condition. In this book we get to see 2 very different extremes to how patients are treated. In the first chapter she is hospitalized and treated for the addictions as well as her mental health. They treat her kindly and like a human being. They never make her feel like a burden or like she doesn't matter. But then she is transferred to a facility to specializes in dual diagnosis.
It's at this facility where we get the other end of how patients are cared for. This facility was horrible. They don't follow her medication plan seemingly just giving her whatever they won't to even though they didn't do their own examinations or anything like that. They make her feel like a burden, they act like they don't care and it's like their mentality is how dare you make me do my job. The mistreatment of their patients really pissed me off while reading it. At first I thought it was going to end up being a case of having an unreliable narrator but that is not what happened.
We get some backstory on Dianne throughout the chapters like how she was homeless by the age of 8 and how her first stint in rehab was when she was 19. With each passing chapter which detail each day of Dianne's life in this rehab facility we get to see her become more and more coherent and essentially start taking care of herself since the medical professionals didn't seem capable of doing their jobs.
Like I said this book details from the time she was hospitalized to being transferred to the facility to being released from said facility. 6 days seems like a really fast process and I know that it's an ongoing battle throughout her life which is why I would have liked to get a little bit about what it was like for her once she left that facility. Also this book could have definitely used some more editing. I don't usually mention editing issues but when they are so frequent that it starts taking me out of the story I have to mention it. Also I did struggle a little bit to get through this. It was a bit slow and I felt like I was reading the same thing in each chapter but overall I am glad I agreed to read it.
I want to thank Destiny and Erin for finally getting me to read this book by buddy reading it with me. I always have so much fun buddy reading with y'all.
This book is hard to review without spoiling things but I am going to try not to spoil anything. It's told in multiple POVs just like Six of Crows and it switches between each characters POV which can be frustrating especially if someone's chapter ends on a cliffhanger and you really want to know what's going to happen next. The main POVs we get are from Nikolai, Nina and Zoya. I was enjoying Nina's storyline more than I was Nikolai and Zoya's. Zoya has always been a character I really didn't like and that was the case for the beginning of this book but we do get to see a different side of her in this book that I hope carry's on into the next book. It's pretty slow going for the majority of the book because we are getting a good bit of backstory on the characters some of which if you've read the other series she has written you will already know but we do get new information as well. To me Nina's chapters were moving the book along and Nikolai and Zoya's chapters made it slog a little bit. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though. Despite the slowness I was invested in the story I just personally would have enjoyed it slightly more if it wasn't so slow going.
I struggled with how to talk about the ending of this book because I definitely have thoughts I just didn't know how to say what I wanted to say without spoiling things for y'all and I really didn't want to do that. Upon reading other peoples reviews I came across one review that explained it perfectly so I will link to her review here. Although now that I am writing it I feel like this could still be a bit spoilery so read at your own risk. When I read the ending I was mad. Did it shock me, yes. Was it a twist I didn't expect to happen, again yes but as Maja said in her review it's kind of a setback and that's really all I can say without full on spoiling everything. Overall I am invested in these characters once again and I can't wait to read the follow up because I want to know how things play out for each of them.
3.5 stars
This is a collection of 20 short stories and for me short stories tend to be hit or miss especially when it comes to Stephen King. I did have a few favorites like Mile 81, Bad Little Kid and Under the Weather which I have actually read before because it was originally published in Full Dark, No Stars. I also had some that I hated and thought were pointless but I was say the majority of them were just ok reads. King does a great job with build up in stories but the endings a lot of times are lackluster as was the case for one of my favorites, Mile 81. He's also really good at getting you so hooked that by the end you are left needing/wanting more. You feel like you didn't the full story like you're missing something. Both of these are definitely the case for different stories in this collection. Overall I am glad I can say I have marked yet another King book off of my TBR but it's not one of my favorites by him.
This book wasn't even on my radar but I saw several people talking about it in a group on Discord that I am in and it got me wanting to read it and here we are.
I thought this was a fun cute and cozy read. I loved the characters and the romance although it did take forever for them to get together. To me there were things that were a bit repetitive and that did start to get on my nerves and it ended abruptly. I do get why it ended in the way it did I was just expecting everything to be wrapped up by the end so when it ended and everything wasn't resolved it caught me off guard. And one last thing that I couldn't help but notice and have to mention even though it doesn't affect my rating of it at all is that the title is a bit misleading although I'm pretty sure I am the only one who thinks that.
Overall a really fun read that I am glad I decided to read on a whim and I can't wait to continue on with this series when the next book releases.
Ok so this is the year of Sarah J. Maas for me. I finally read the Throne of Glass series I've read this series and I am going to be rereading/reading the ACOTAR series very soon and I can say with complete confidence that Sarah is a new favorite author of mine.
While reading this I was kind of in a reading slump because I was reading Fourth Wing at the same time and I loved that book so much that everything I was picking up afterward just pared in comparison to it however this book was still able to hold my attention.
I can't really comment on much since this is the second book of a series but I'm freaking hooked on these characters and the world and just everything. I was able to guess some of the twists but I have to say that ending OH MY GOSH I didn't see that coming at all and it left me feeling shook. I cannot wait for the 3rd book to be released but at the same time I am scared about where Maas plans on taking some of the characters. I will not be happy if it doesn't go the way I want it too.
I've read a few of this authors books before and while I did enjoy this one it's probably not my favorite out of everything else I've read by her. One thing I really loved about this book is how we had a virgin heroine who wasn't completely naive. I loved the opposites attract romance and the mental health rep. Our Hero Julian has panic attacks/anxiety when it comes to the people he loves. I don't know how accurate it is because I don't have either of these but my husband deals with anxiety and I feel like that rep was pretty accurate.
I love how quirky Hallie is. I could have read a book that was just about all the antics she gets up too. The romance was cute but when the steamy scenes came in is where things kind of got weird for me. Lets just say that what happens was totally out of character for Julian and it threw me off. Overall an enjoyable read and I will definitely continue to read more books by this author.

This was a quick easy read. It's YA and it definitely reads like a YA. Sari walks in on her boyfriend of 3 years kissing his ex girlfriend and the story goes from there. We are following Sari so it's all about her. At times she did kind of get on my nerves as did other characters. Had the characters just listened to what the other was saying we wouldn't have had all the back and forth nonsense and drama. What the author portrayed really well in my opinion is the anxiety and the feeling of everything falling apart. I was literally going through the same emotions as Sari while reading this. I mostly felt anger while reading this because the “ex” kept pushing when she wanted/needed space or because her parents weren't listening to her or Sari just refused to listen. Overall I did enjoy this book it just wasn't a new favorite.
This was my least favorite book in the series and honestly it's probably my least favorite by this author so far. This one had an ok balance between the romance and STEM aspects although I would probably say the STEM took over a little bit more in this one and that definitely wasn't the case with the other 2 books. I Loved how nerdy and awkward Ian was I also loved how Hannah went after what she wanted with no shame. The sex scene in this one was probably the most weird I have ever read. He started comparing her body parts to topographical features on Mars it was al just very weird to listen to. I didn't hate this one but like I said it definitely wasn't my favorite but I am still interested in reading more by this author.
This book is classified as horror and for me personally there was nothing horrifying about it. I was intrigued in the first half of the book. I found myself very curious as to how Jacob's did what he did. Then the last half happened and I was just ugh about it. I wanted to know why Jacob's was so hell bent on his research. Like what was his end goal? The reveal was kind of disappointing and it got a bit to scientific? and went over my head. I don't have much else to say about this one. It was an ok read. It's not one I hate but it's definitely not a favorite for me either.
