I'm sure I probably read this when I was a kid or had it read to me but as y'all know my memory is crap so it's like I read it for the first time as a 29 year old. Even though I am an adult I really enjoyed this. The illustrations are eye catching and very colorful and the rhyming is very catchy which I loved. Also I loved the message about how life has ups and downs and you are going to have good times as well as bad times but you will get through it. I think its a great thing for kids to learn early on.
Overall I think this was a cute book with an amazing message about life and you should definitely read it no matter how old you are.
I don't have much to say about the last 3 books in this series individually so I thought I would just combine my thoughts for all of them. Overall I thought this series was ok. There was a lot of repetitiveness that got annoying and I didn't really connect to any of the characters all that much but in the end I did feel for a couple of the characters. I felt like this could have been a great full length novel story because things needed to be elaborated on more so it didn't work the greatest in graphic novel format for me but like I said it was ok and I am looking forward to watching the adaptation.
I buddy read this book with Merphy from YouTube. I have been following her for a while now and she has definitely become one of my favorite Booktubers to watch. This year she has been buddy reading classics with her followers. I've been wanting to read more classics so I finally decided to join her for this months buddy read of Rebecca.
Y'all know classics tend to be mostly misses for me with a couple hits here and there. At first I thought this was going to be another miss for me but luckily I ended up enjoying it in the end. While doing some research for another book I saw that this had been classified as a horror which made me even more excited to read it. Unfortunately that was a big disappointment because to me this is not horror at all. That is at no fault to the book or author I just wanted to let y'all know what I was expecting going into it.
So to begin with I was disappointed I wasn't getting the horror aspect that I was expecting and excited for and I was pretty bored for the first half of the novel. Like I said this was a buddy read so that's a big reason why I continued reading it but I was also intrigued enough to keep reading because of the mystery and suspense.
The last half was what really got me. I didn't want to put the book down. There were so many reveals that I never saw coming. The last half of the book was what made this a 4 star book for me.
Most of the characters aren't likable and honestly I was annoyed with the behavior of pretty much all of them especially the main characters. But even though I didn't like the characters I still feel like it made for a great story and I can honestly say that at this point this is on of my favorite classics that I have read granted I haven't read that many.
I definitely think this book is worth reading. If you can get past the first half of the book which is a little slow and boring the last half picks up and you wont want to put it down. There are so many twists you wont see coming.
This is a Children's Historical Fiction novel that touches on true events of WWII. As you probably know historical books are hit or miss for me but luckily this one was a hit.
I tend to enjoy Historical novels that tell a story about what it was like for people during the time and that's exactly what I got with this book. The portrayal of the events happening were very subtle and not graphic which I can totally appreciate considering its geared toward children but I would have liked it to be a little more in depth.
While reading I didn't really think I had any connections with the characters but toward the end some things happened that made me tear up a little.
I think it ended nicely but I was hoping for a reunion at the end that didn't happen. You're left to your imagination on how things worked out for certain characters which is ok but like I said I was really hoping for a reunion.
Overall I really enjoyed this and would recommend everyone read it at some point in their lives.
So I was so frustrated with the characters while reading this book. The whole back and forth with the emotions was driving me crazy. It's obvious America and Maxon are in love with each other and America finally realizes that but then keeps second guessing how she feels about Aspen and if Maxon really loves her and she just kept putting off telling him how she felt because she thought if he didn't love her like she loved him Aspen would still be there. Ugh it was so frustrating I wanted to reach into the book and slap all of them. That being said though I was fully sucked into the story and enjoyed the journey. I'm pretty sure this was originally supposed to be a trilogy and I thought this books ended pretty well except I wish the story involving Maxon's dad would have ended differently because I felt like it was building up for something to happen but then what happened seemed like the easy way. Overall I'm still enjoying this series even though it is definitely flawed.
This was another buddy read with Ashley and it's the 3rd book in the same series as the book above. This one had the humor from the first book that I was missing in the second book and it's an enemies to lovers romance which I loved as well. The only thing I find annoying about enemies to lovers is that it always takes so long for things to start happening romantically between the characters. I hope the last book in the series is just as good.
I love how it didn't take forever to build the story up it just got right into it. The one and only thing that got me to start with is the book is told in sections and each section is from different peoples point of view. To begin with I was really confused but after a little bit I got used to it and I could figure out who's point of view each section was in. I like how The main character Cassie is a bad ass. I like how Bens character grew throughout this book and through everything there were some that kept their humanity. I wish we weren't left with such a huge cliffhanger though. I mean what happened to Evan and the rest of the kids?
This was another book that I found at a library sale that I never knew was a book. I have watched the movie several times and really liked it so once again I went into this book expecting it to be very similar to the movie.
While the book and movie had many similarities with some slight differences there was some things that started happening about halfway through the book that were just weird and made no sense whatsoever to me.
The way Forrest is portrayed in the book could come off as very offensive to people who suffer from the same mental health issues.
I really just don't know what to say about this book. I went into it with high expectations because I loved the movie so much but unfortunately this was just a big disappointment.
When I first read this book/trilogy I gave them all 5 stars. I was so hooked!! Mostly on the romance of course!! This time around I was still hooked on the romance but because everything wasn't new to me I wasn't as hooked. Also I noticed things like how long the chapters were which now drives me crazy and the fact that nothing much happens with the main plot throughout any of the books until the last one. It is dragged out and then is resolved pretty easily in my opinion. I still really enjoyed my reread I just lowered my rating to 4 stars instead of 5. Below is my original review.
It has been a while since I have been so into a book or book series that I couldn't put it down. That is the case with this trilogy. Every time I put the book down I found myself constantly thinking about it. This is by far one of the best series I have ever read I cant believe it took me so long to read them. I cant decide on how I feel about the ending. On one side I am completely heart broken but then again I think that it couldn't have ended any better. I read this series first before the mortal instruments and I found that I understood everything without a problem. If you have not read this series yet I highly suggest that you do
This could be considered spoilery so if you haven't read this book then skip this review. This was my first book by this author. While I was reading this I was thoroughly enjoying it but after it ended I wasn't really sure how I felt about it. When there's a romance involved in a book I want things to end up a certain way and when they don't end the way I want them to it bums me out. This book didn't end how I wanted it to. The ending wasn't bad and is probably more of a realistic ending for a couple 17 year olds but I don't always want realistic. This book Had me feeling all of the feelings while reading it. The ending felt a little rushed to me and I would have liked for certain characters to have repercussions but overall I really enjoyed this book.
I buddy read this with Erin. This was her first time reading this book but it was a reread for me. I will leave my original review below but I wanted to say what I thought of it this time as well. I still really enjoyed this and I did forget a lot of what happened but as stuff happened I was like oh yeah I remember that so it didn't pack as much of a punch as it did the first time I read it which is understandable. I read this for the first time in 2016 which I believe is when I first started getting into reading. Back then I didn't really have any preferences when it came to reading. I noticed this time around that the chapters are long which I don't particularly enjoy and I remembered it being more action packed then it actually was. Overall I still really enjoyed this book and look forward to continuing with my reread. This time around I gave it 4 stars as opposed to the 5 stars I gave it before.
Original review from 2016
Wow!! Just wow!! What's left to say. I think this was a great first book to a series. When I started this book I will admit I was a little skeptical I didn't think I was going to get into it as much as I did. I found myself not wanting to put the book down and when I had to I found myself constantly thinking about it. This was my first Cassandra Clare book and I cant believe it took me so long to read it. I was instantly drown into the Shadowhunter world and I cant wait to dive deeper into the story. I am glad I have the rest of the series to read already because I don't know what I would do otherwise. I mean what kind of ending was that lol.
I got this from NetGalley a while back because everyone was talking about it and I was having FOMO. The synopsis sounded intriguing enough but I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. Everyone I saw talk about it was raving about it. I went in excited but also scared because of the hype but I am so glad I finally read it because I loved it so much. The hype is definitely deserved. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher Peachtree Teen for providing me with an eCopy in exchange for my honest review.
I ended up buddy reading this with dbs_guide_to_the_galaxy we had planned to read 3 chapters a day and I managed to stick to that until I got closer to the end and I just couldn't make myself put it down anymore.
Ok so I was immediately sucked into this story. I loved that it's a book about asexual characters. I'm pretty sure this is my first book with asexual characters in it and I will admit that while the term isn't new to me I am still learning about what it means. This book was somewhat informative for a newbie like me but don't go into it expecting a full lesson in asexuality. I feel like this representation was done really well. We also get other representation like a deaf character but this could have been handled better.
This is described as a heist book but I would say it's heist light. They do attempt a heist but these are teenagers that are in way over their heads so what can they really do. Don't go in expecting a heist the likes of Six of Crows. I loved the friendship dynamic and got so many laughs out of their banter. I especially loved the relationship between Jack and Remy. They are both Ace but over the course of the book they both come to terms with having a crush on each other which this book makes a point to say that there's an Ace spectrum and every Ace person is going to be different. This isn't a romance but you can't deny their connection from the very beginning.
Everything about this book worked for me. I loved it so much and I will for sure be looking into whatever else this author has written or will write.
Since my copy of Little Women was an ebook of the complete series I decided to review it as a whole. I'm not really going to break the review up based on each book I'm just going to talk about my thoughts throughout reading the whole thing. Also thank you Erin for buddy reading this with me. Buddy reading classics is definitely the way to go. If you aren't already following her blog you definitely should do that now.
Ok now to the actual review part of this post. Out of the 3 books in this series my favorite was hands down Little Women/Good Wives if I was reviewing that alone I would give it 5 stars but I'm not so let's move on.
Little Women/Good Wives was so much easier to follow than the other books because there was only a few characters we were following. I was really immersed in the story and we were making guesses about the love interests and we weren't completely right about it which if I'm being honest I am still torn about who some of the characters ended up with. On one hand it works and I love it but it wasn't the way I wanted it to go so yeah.
With the other books there was just sooo many characters that I had a hard time keeping up with who was who and after a while I just gave up trying to remember everyone and just enjoyed the story.
Louisa has a way of making you feel like you need more information but at the same time what she does give you works perfectly and is enough. It's hard for me to explain this. Basically there were some scenes that we flew through and I wanted more from that scene but at the same time it worked. A lot of the scenes I am talking about were emotional scenes and with what she gave us she succeeded at getting me teary eyed.
Overall I really enjoyed reading this series and can now say I have another favorite classic.
Upon reread of this book my original thoughts still hold true. I absolutely love this book.
This book was perfection. It had everything I could have wanted in a book and then some. This is definitely one of my all time favorite books and I could see myself rereading it in the future. This is a book about books but the books in this book are Grimoires and they are living creatures that are capable of being good or bad.
Elisabeth literally grew up in the library and she has this love and need to be near books and protect them and honestly I just loved it. She's very awkward and clumsy but that doesn't stop her from fighting when she needs too even if she isn't 100% sure of what she is doing.
We then have Nathaniel who is a Sorcerer and the love interest and his demon servant Silas. I have to point out that Nathaniel causally mentions in the story that he is Bi and I absolutely loved how it was handled. He is also humorous despite always being in these crazy situations because of Elizabeth. I also have to point out that I have never loved a villain(s) so much in my life. I think Nathaniel is a morally grey character but Silas is a demon who we are warned not to care for all throughout the book and I absolutely loved both of them and rooted for both of them.
I absolutely loved the romance. It's slow burn and while it is a major part of the story I don't think it overtook the story at all. Honestly I just loved everything about this book and wish it wasn't a standalone.
This book has been on my TBR for so long so I'm happy to say I've finally read it and I buddy read it with Ali. I think a big part of why I kept putting off reading this book was because of what was being said about it when it was first released. I love books with vampires, and I thought I was going to love this but unfortunately it was just ok. I'm having such a hard time putting into words why this didn't completely work for me. Like there was a lot I liked about it. I loved what little bit of a romance we got as well as the suspense/mystery. I loved the friendships/found family aspect and how Celine could give as good as she got. I was intrigued enough to want to continue to the end but at the same time I was kind of bored. The story kind of dragged for me and I wanted more of actual vampires. Also, we needed more foreshadowing because as it is we got absolutely nothing that would lead us to suspect the person(s) it ended up being. All in all, I think I just needed more to fully love this book. I do plan on reading the next book and I'm hoping that one will be better than this one was for me.
4.5 stars
Ok so this is a really hyped book. When I first started reading it I was enjoying it but I wasn't enjoying it as much as I was expecting to but I kept reading and by the time I finished it I understood the hype for it although I would still say it was way over hyped. This is an age gap slow burn romance. When I say slow burn I mean slow burn. The characters didn't actually get together until over halfway through the book which I get but ugh I just wanted them to get it over with. The chemistry between these characters is amazing which is why I was like screaming at them to just get together already. This is a forbidden romance because this is a boyfriends dad romance but there was no actual cheating on Jordan's part. At first I was kind of expecting there to be a little bit of a love triangle but that didn't end up being the case because Cole ends up being a horrible boyfriend in the end. There were a couple of things I wish would have gotten elaborated on in the end but that may just be a personal preference thing. Overall I really did enjoy this and I couldn't stop reading it. It was very addictive.
Thank you to Erin for continuing to buddy read with me. I always look forward to our buddy reads every month. If you aren't already following her blog you should definitely go and give her a follow.
What can I say about this book. Well I absolutely loved it for one thing. Magnus is my favorite character in the Shadowhunter world and Alec and Magnus (Malec) are my favorite couple so of course I am going to be all over a book that's all about them. Magnus brings the humor and Alec brings the seriousness and the combination of the 2 of them just brings all of the feels. This isn't all about their romance even though I would totally be fine if it was. We also get some action and fighting and drama I mean it is Clare we are talking about here. I don't think she can write a book without lack of communication drama.
I really don't know what else to say about this book. I'm sitting here trying to put into words how I felt about it but all I can come up with is that I freaking loved it and I want more so I guess I will just leave it at that.
First off I just want to say thank you so much to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Nice Try, Afton is the third installment in the Afton Morrison series and I have read every single one. I will say if you're not a big fan of cliffhangers like me then you probably want to wait until every book is out so you can read them back to back because each one has ended on a cliffhanger. I've been lucky enough to be able to read them close together so it hasn't bothered me as much at it usually does.
This book is fast paced and action packed just like the rest of the books and it's full of surprises. It makes for a quick read and one you won't want to put down.
For some reason Afton was really annoying to me in this book. I think it was because she kept going back and forth between being “good” and being “bad” and she would never make up her mind. I read this book on vacation and stupid me didn't take notes so I can't remember exactly what was bothering me I just remember I found her to be annoying at first.
I highly recommend y'all pick up this series if you haven't already just be mindful of the pesky cliffhangers. There's only one more book left in the series and I am excited to find out how things end.
I have wanted to read this book since it came out but never did. When I randomly saw it in my library the other day I had to pick it up. This book is set during fall but I read it during the summer and still really enjoyed it. It's so adorable and the graphics are amazing. I loved the characters in this especially Deja. She is so outgoing and the best friend someone could ask for. This graphic novel in my opinion has some great representation but since I don't have personal experience with any of the rep I would say read some own voices reviews to get a better sense of that. While this book was pretty predictable I still really enjoyed reading it and it was a quick easy read as well. I would love if there was a continuation but I don't know if that will ever be a thing.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ecopy via R&R Book Tours in exchange for my honest review.
I am really into this series but at the same time I feel like everything is being dragged out. This one is mostly focused on the romance which if you know me then you know I love it. Not much else happened though.
I mentioned in my review for the second book about a potential love triangle but luckily that proved to be false. I wasn't sure of the intentions of one of the guys but that is all cleared up in this book and lets just say that I am so glad I was wrong. Not that I don't like the character because I do but my heart is set on another.
Rose is still a little wish washy but I think she has made significant progress since book one so I have to applaud her on that but she can still be very annoying.
I don't really have much else to say about this book. I am loving it but it has been dragged out way to much but I am looking forward to the final book.
I need to thank the author for providing me with a copy of this book via R&R Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I'm so glad I was able to read the entire series because in the end I really enjoyed it.
I put off writing this review for a long time so this is going to be a short one.
This is the final book in this series and I finally got what I've been waiting for from the beginning. This was a quick read as all of them were. Also I felt like the ending was rushed. We have had 3 books that have lead up to this final book and the final battle(s) and the HEA but once the battle(s) came they were over in like a page. I was a little disappointed because I was expecting so much more after that build up.
I don't really have much else to say. I do suggest that you read all four books in order and as close together as possible.

I participated in the #24in48 readathon this weekend and I decided to start it off by reading this book. I'm glad I did because I really got into it and didn't want to put it down. I was able to read this whole book in a little under 8 hours. Like I said I really did enjoy this book but I had a couple issues with it that made me take off half a star. First off Lucy was kind of childish in my opinion and every time she would describe what someone looked liked she always threw in some negative comments about them which got on my nerves. I mean why do you have to be so judgmental. This is a hate to love romance and as you all know by now I love me some romance. I absolutely adored the romance between Josh and Lucy and to be honest I might be in love with Josh myself (shh don't tell my husband) what got on my nerves at first was when they “hated” each other. These 2 were supposed to be grown ups but here they were acting like immature teenagers. Even with those two issues I had the romance between them hooked me and I really enjoyed this book.
Once again I have let writing my review for to long so I am struggling to remember everything I wanted to say but I took a few notes while reading it so hopefully this makes sense.
This was a quick read that was funny and cute but it was also somewhat sad because it deals with the loss of a parent. I say somewhat because I feel like the main focus of this was the romance between the main characters which you all know I am ok with.
It alternates between present day and journal entries from the past which I liked but it was also kind of annoying because you would think you were about to get an answer to something but then you would be left with a cliffhanger and you would have to wait for it to switch back.
This book was somewhat predictable which I don't mind because it's such a cute romance. It definitely could have done with some more editing though. The mistakes weren't too frequent but they were frequent enough to keep pulling me out of the story.
I am buddy reading this entire series with Destiny this year. We started with The Assassin's Blade which was the Novella bind up and in February we read the first official book in the series. I thought this was a great start to the series. It picks up a year after the ending of the final novella in The Assassin's Blade which is why I feel like it was a good idea to read the novellas first because you get an idea of who Celaena is and what she does. Celaena is a very flawed character. She's full of herself, she doesn't think through things before jumping in head first and she she's wishy washy. However, her being so flawed is a part of her charm. Of course she has good qualities as well which makes her a well rounded relatable character.
There is a bit of a love triangle in this book which after reading The Assassin's Blade I didn't think I would be able to get behind another romance but in this book I was definitely team Chaol from the beginning. Dorian is a great guy but to me they are better off as friends.
There's a tournament in this book and I loved seeing all the different challenges that the competitors had to go through but at the same time I felt like it was a bit slow going and not a lot was happening. I guess with how much this series is beloved over the years I have built up some expectations and I was expecting it to be more action packed I guess.
Overall like I said this was a good start to the series and I am reading the entire series with Destiny this year. We are already almost finished with Heir of Fire which is the 3rd book.

This was my first Holly Black book and after reading this I definitely want to read more of her books. I feel like I don't read a whole lot of fantasy but every time I do read a fantasy I tend to end up loving it and that was definitely the case for this book.
Let me start off with the things that kind of bothered me. First off how did Madoc know where to find the girls mother? She's been in hiding for like 10 years and now all of a sudden he knows where she is. I would have liked a little more explanation. Also I find it hard to believe that he would take 2 human girls back to his land to raise as his own just because they belonged to his wife. I mean the whole book pretty much tells you how much the fae hate humans.
Ok now that that is out of the way lets talk about Prince Cardan. He is awful. People were telling me to just wait he will grow on you and honestly he really didn't. Yes he did somewhat redeem himself but that doesn't excuse his behavior at all. That being said he is a great villain.
I loved Vivi and I wished she part of the story more. Taryn who is Jude's twin umm I don't even know what to say about her. At first I was liking her but that quickly took a turn and right now I can't stand her.
I was preparing myself for this crazy cliff hanger because everybody kept warning me it was coming. If you know me you know I hate cliff hangers but I was really happy with the way this book ends. I definitely want to read the next book as soon as possible because I want to know what's in store for these characters next.
