Thank you so, so much for the ARC!!!! I'm so honored to read this and give an honest review.
At first, I wasn't completely into the book. It started off cute with a Cinderella moment but it never really went anywhere until a little over halfway through. I felt like we got some background info but nothing that really connected the characters at first.
But once it got started ... I was in! It was such a sweet book with a cute ending. I can't wait to get my eyes on the second book coming out in March!
Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart, Ally! This was such a cute story.
I enjoyed this one better than the Halloween one! It was a little more ... adventurous? LOL A quick short read to hold me over until I can grab my next book. Not bad!
Brady ... Freaking ... Spade ...
I really have a hard time choosing my favorite Spade brother and Brady is UH-mazing. The dynamic of their relationship is wild and it melts my heart how protective he is of Lily. Y'all know by now that I hate the messy drama of the infamous third act breakup. I'm here to say, we do not have a third act breakup with Mr. Spade, here. Praise! Brady is the real deal and the full package, for sure. If you haven't read anything in the Spade Hotel series, you reaallllyy need to. This was one of my favorites of the series. The mouth of this man .... my God.
For me, I think this is like a 3.8. It was really cute and I like how Will isn't a complete tool like a lot of other MMCs. There were a lot of weird time jumps, which I get due to the races, but it felt like you were missing some information that would've made the story “pop” a little more. However, I know a lot of work went in to making sure the lingo was correct for all the F1 cars and races. It was really a sweet story.
Huge thank you to Net Galley, Amanda Weaver, and Zando for this ARC. I appreciate your trust in my honest reviews!
As always, Marni delivered! Ridge and Addison are such an amazing couple. I love the way they communicate! No third act breakup (praise!). They took the time to recognize and work through differences and obstacles and made it work. I wish there was a little more of Daisy in the picture and I like the way this pictured Rhett a little more. I feel like his story is going to go deeeeeep. Regardless, Ridge's heart and soul for all the women in his life is just amazing.
Thank you so much, Marni, for the ARC! I loved every minute of it.
This gets a 4 ONLY because I enjoyed the bit of suspense through it. I loved how their story ended happily. I thought the ending was good, even though it was too quick to tie up in my opinion. I feel like a huge part of the book could have been rewritten and it would have been so much better.
spoiler
What do I mean by that? The whole thing with Lily and Evan did not need to happen. What should have happened (IN MY OPINION) was that Lily should have known that Keller would have never left her, remembered the threats and told Lara and Ottar and they should have spent those months (that shouldn't have been months, but weeks) looking for Kellar. Everything else was fine, but that whole separation and going through feelings because of lack of communication just could've been different.
4.75
I love Meghan Quinn, firstly. Secondly, I wasn't sure I was going to like this book, but MAN did I really like it. There were a few communication issues that dropped it down a little bit, but the overall story and spice was great.
Huge shout out to Marni and team for the ARC! I love it so much.
This book did not AT ALL go how I expected it to, but I can't complain. We got to see so much of Rhett and Lainey's earlier years and how their relationship came to be. It really is a beautiful story with true, believable traumas. Marni did a great job writing this.
I wish I would have gotten more of their “Present Day” story. I really love them.
Honestly, I'm not sure I've read another author that write such a swoon-worthy series. I fell in love with every character since Carter's book and I can't wait for the rest in the series. Adam and Rosie's story was just incredible and full of love, laughter, heartbreak, trust, and everything else. It made me laugh and cry and feel so hopeful. Props to Becka Mack. I will absolutely be reading every book you write.
I went back and forth between a 4 and a 5 star rating but I ended up giving it a 5 because the ending was kinda epic for the story and it was exactly what I needed right now. Trilina did a great job with this book. Both characters were cute and sassy and funny with the right amount of banter. I can't wait to read the next one!
What a cute little story! Such powerful statements made in this book that really makes you take a step back and look at yourself, your business, your relationships. I really enjoyed the story and found value in it. I would recommend to anyone!
Rebecca .... Becky.... Bec.... Be-KAH (in true Pitch Perfect form).
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO US?!
I truly do not even know how to express what I feel towards this book. It took me much longer to read than I anticipated and I'm not sure why. It wasn't that I didn't like it or that I wasn't interested... Maybe it was because my heart was out of control on almost every page. *shrug
Violet SEVERELY annoyed me with her back and forth. Do we trust Xaden? Do we not? We do. Well, wait.. Nah... But what's a love story without some back and forth I suppose.
There were 3 scenes in particular that will stick with me forever. My heart was shattered, I was angry, I was hurt. I loved, I cried, I laughed. No other series has touched my soul like this one has.
That ending though ....... Not ready to comment on it. There just are no words.
Hands down one of the best Laura Pavlov books I have read. The tension, the chemistry, the romance, the feels, it was all there. I loved every second of this book. Maddox and Georgia are the best. 5 stars for this one because it had all the feels, a very well written plot and (basically) no third act breakup. I was swooning from both characters on just about every page.
If you've read this and you haven't read the bonus story - down load it immediately! It's the best.
Thank you Laura for writing such amazing novels with the best swoon-worthy characters and many life lessons on every page. You're one of my favorite authors.
ARC Review
Special thanks to NetGalley, Lisa M. Matlin, and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the advanced copy!
This was a pretty good debut novel! Lisa did a great job writing this from the perspective of Sarah Slade, newest owner of the Black Wood House. Is it Sarah that's crazy? Becuase there's no way houses make people crazy ... right? You'll have to read to find out!
I wish I got a little more background on Joe and Sarah. You get a little from them about what happened to Sarah's sister, but not a lot which kind of made Joe's characted not needed in the story. The epilogue was kind of cool. Overall this was a pretty good book and I would reccommend to a friend! It was the perfect story to kick off spooky season.
Happy Reading!
4.25 / 5!
I loved this book so much! The first 250 pages were amazing. I literally read the book in about 24 hours. That doesn't happen to me very often. I was HOOKED! I loved the story line and the slow burn and the feels. That being said, I feel like the last part of the book was rushed through which was kind of sad because the first 60% of the book was paced perfectly. Overall it was a great read and I know I say this every time, but I'm stoked for the next one.
I tell you what, no one can write an epilogue like Freida. This was an interesting reimagining of The Gift of the Magi. I'm familiar with the story but Freida sure put a twist on it! It wasn't my favorite Freida but I'm not mad I read it. It was a nice Christmas thriller story.
4.5 ⭐️s! I really loved this book. Archer's Voice still comes out on top for me, but Travis is not far behind. I love that you get to see Archer and Bree as much as you do inside the story. Travis 100% got his redemption. I am so happy when I read books by Mia. There's something so beautiful about the way she tells the stories she does. I can't explain it, but it really is an amazing feeling. I can't wait for more!
3.75 stars
Man, I can't believe I'm done with the Salacious series. I grew to love all the characters, even the ones in this book who gave me some whiplash. It was bittersweet reading this one.
It was almost a 4 star. So close! There were times where I felt like Jade's character was almost too much for the story line. There were also times where I felt like she more than fit in to the relationship, but it was just a lot sometimes to process with everyone different emotions. I know the third book in this series also had a poly-ship but I didn't feel that way reading that book, if that makes sense. Everyone had a place and every ones feelings made sense.
This one just felt sort of rushed or like I wasn't able to get everyone's story line. Overall it was good and was a good ending to the series.
Sooo the spice was a 5 for me but the plot was a 3/3.5. The beginning of the plot just sounded unreal because you weren't given a lot of detail at first. You find out more along the way, obviously, but while it was good, it was average for a romance book I suppose. Beck has a mouth though which is what made the spice a 5 for me. Overall it was a good read.
This was so, so close to 5 star for me. I think it was the way that she kept pulling away in the middle-ish. I mean, I get it, but just live a little. I love Jasper. Props to him, he really had a hard life. I'm super proud of him (yes, I know he's a fictional character). Love this series so much!
This book was just as good as the first! If I'm honest, Millie was really getting on my nerves in this book. But as we all know in the books of Freida, everyone be crazy. If you liked the first one, this is a must read!
So I really like this series a lot. This one is much longer than the other ones, which is fine except for the fact that Myla we really aggravating. Like I understand that she's been through a lot, but in a matter of months, you asked for a divorce. It just frustrating and Ryot is so sweet. He keeps being told how wrong he is and I just don't see it. I mean he isn't perfect and he messed up but not enough for all that she has put him through. He had stuff going on too. I really enjoyed him. And the hotel room scene was just wow!!!
I don't think I'm going to be able to choose a favorite Cane brother. Breaker is the absolute sweetest and I'm really, really glad that Lia wasn't as dramatic as the other FMC's in the first two books. This was wonderfully written as far as “Friends to Lovers” goes. It was sweet, it was funny, it was romantic, it was spicy. It had all the things! It was a really good book and I'm kinda sad the series is over.
With every book I've read in this series, I never think I'm going to like it. Then I pick it up (because, OCD) and I read it since I started the series, and I swear I end up liking or loving them all in their own way. This one is no different! I was completely skeptical. Age gap isn't really my thing - especially when it's 35 years.
Sara ... Miss Ma'am.. I don't know what kind of magic you be puttin' in your books, but I'm here for it. I loved Ronan for everything he is. Daisy ... I love her too, but at some points it was like come on girl! Seriously though, it was a good story. I enjoyed it a lot. I wasn't expecting what I got. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but it met the expectations!
THIS WAS IT! THIS was THE book of the series. Hands down. It was so good. I loved every single character and man did Nan have me on the floor laughing. I loved Charlotte and Ledger more than I thought I would. It made my heart happy that the Epilogue included more of Jace and Ashlan. I can't say enough how much I loved this book. Definitely top 5 of the year. I would have read it in one sitting if I didn't have to sleep. 10/10
