EN: The way the story is written makes it very easy to read, and for some reason, it reminds me of old animations like Popeye the Sailor and others. I like it, and I think that someday I will read all of the ‘Tales of 1001 Nights'!
RO: Felul în care este scrisă povestea o face foarte ușor de citit și, dintr-un motiv oarecare, îmi amintește de vechile animații precum Popeye Marinarul. Îmi place și cred că într-o zi voi citi toate ‘Poveștile din 1001 de nopți'!
Scrierile cuviosului Serafim Rose sunt de fiecare dată o sursă importantă de găsire a adevărului în modernitate. În opera ‘Locul binecuvântatului Augustin în biserica ortodoxă', ne este arătată nu numai viziunea părinților asupra lui Augustin, ci și perspectiva bisericii asupra marilor gânditori apuseni, venerați mai mult de catolici decât de estici. Adevărul stă mai mult în dorința de a accepta posibilitatea prezenței anumitor greșeli în scrierile de natură umană din ambele părți. Atât Augustin, cât și părinți moderni, cum ar fi Nectarie, au anumite greșeli dogmatice în scrierile lor. Însă perspectiva ortodocșilor de rând este mai mult cea a unei persoane în timpul unei epidemii: se feresc mai mult de vest decât de greșeli. Ceea ce este foarte diferit de abordarea bisericii (care a acceptat introducerea unor astfel de gânditori în calendarul ortodox), și totodată această perspectivă bolnavă, contrazice biblia, întrucât ne este spus în Matei 5:9 ‘Fericiți făcătorii de pace, că aceia fiii lui Dumnezeu se vor chema.'
EN: Bram Stoker manages to captivate the reader through his interesting way of narrating the action, a style reminiscent of Feodor Dostoevsky's “Poor Folk.” Although the book is rich in philosophy and mythology, the author's lack of knowledge in the medical and geographical fields can be confusing at times and may lead to some contradictions. RO: Bram Stoker reușește să captiveze cititorul prin modul său interesant de a scrie acțiunea, un stil asemănător cu cel din “Oameni sărmani” de Feodor Dostoievski. Deși cartea este bogată în filozofie și mitologie, lipsa de cunoștințe a autorului în domeniul medical și geografic poate fi derutantă uneori și poate duce la unele contradicții. Cu toate acestea, este o lectură recomandată pentru iubitorii de literatură gotică clasică, oferind o perspectivă interconectată asupra diverselor clase sociale din acea perioadă.
EN: I found it interesting that the people around Gaius Caligula tolerated him for so long, despite the horrific deeds presented! In short, Caligula is a leader almost verging on schizophrenia with a desire to see every person he meets dead. The way Suetonius writes reminds me of other ancient historical texts, however, the style may not be the easiest to understand for a new reader.

RO: Mi s-a părut interesant faptul că oamenii din jurul lui Gaius Caligula l-au suportat pentru atât de mult timp, chiar și în lumina acțiunilor sale oribile! Pe scurt, Caligula este un conducător aproape dus spre schizofrenie, cu o dorință de a vedea moartea oricărei persoane pe care o întâlnește. Stilul în care Suetonius scrie aduce aminte de alte texte istorice antice, însă poate fi dificil de înțeles pentru un cititor nou.

RO: Faptul că totul se poate schimba atât de ușor este, într-un fel, terifiant pentru personajul principal... însă acest aspect funcționează perfect în contextul poveștii. Îmi amintește, într-o oarecare măsură, de Guts din Berserk și de modul în care este redată „nașterea” sa.

RO: Am fost captivat de acțiune și de personaje. Deși există destul de multe elemente gore, acestea funcționează bine în ansamblu. Prezența lui Aristotel ca personaj a schimbat puțin așteptările mele. Îmi place și abia aștept următorul volum!

Mi se pare interesant modul în care sunt traduse poemele din această saga. Penguin a ales să introducă atât forma tradusă ‘mot à mot' a acestora, cât și înțelesul ascuns al metaforelor. În rest, este o poveste destul de simplă când vine vorba de storytelling, dar măcar apar și date istorice care au reușit să mă readucă la firul narativ. Cam atât!
EN: I recommend this book to any religious person! Even though, from a religious point of view, Hinduism and Christianity differ greatly, one can observe, through these poems, the deep inspiration that Hinduism received from Jewish merchants who traveled through India and beyond. The writings remind me both of the Psalms and the writings of St. Paul.
P.S. I have this opinion based on what Benjamin Walker said in “Hindu World”. Christian writings (1st-5th centuries) are much older than Hindu ones (6th-10th centuries), and Hindu religious ideology has gradually changed over time, most likely drawing inspiration from other sources.RO: Recomand această carte oricărei persoane religioase! Chiar dacă, din punct de vedere religios, Hinduismul și Creștinismul diferă foarte mult, se poate observa, prin aceste poeme, inspirația adâncă pe care Hinduismul a primit-o de la evreii comercianți care au călătorit prin India și mai departe. Cele scrise îmi amintesc atât de Psalmii, cât și de cele scrise de către Sf. Apostol Petru.P.S. Am această opinie pe baza celor spuse de Benjamin Walker în “Hindu World”. Scrierile creștine (sec. I-V) sunt mult mai vechi decât cele hinduiste (sec. VI-X), iar ideologia religioasă hindusă s-a schimbat treptat în timp, inspirându-se cel mai probabil din alte surse.
Mă așteptam să fie incluse mai multe exemple concrete de artă în stil bizantin, produsă pe teritoriul României. Însă, am fost întâmpinat de multe detalii istorice simplificate acolo unde nu era neapărat nevoie și complicate uneori inutil. Simt că această carte nu era pentru un consumator de rând ca mine, care căuta prin librărie o carte din categoria ‘artbook-urilor', ci a fost produsă mai mult pentru viitori istorici sau persoane interesate de contextul războaielor turco-bizantine. Ce să zic? Nu mă așteptam la ce am găsit notat aici, dar include oarecum și ce îmi doream. Mă mulțumesc cu atât momentan. 4/5
EN:This book is, in my opinion, one of the best current sources from which you can learn about the life of Father Arsenie! The author, Dan-Silviu Boerescu, even though he often introduces the chapters using shocking phrasing, more commonly found in newspapers than in biographical writings, manages to combine the sources into categories that are easy to understand for someone unfamiliar with the subject.
RO:Această carte este, din punctul meu de vedere, una dintre cele mai bune surse actuale din care te poți informa despre viața Părintelui Arsenie! Autorul Dan-Silviu Boerescu, chiar și dacă a introdus capitolele folosind adeseori formulări șocante, întâlnite mai mult în ziare decât în scrieri bibliografice, reușește să combine sursele, în categorii ușor de înțeles de o persoană neinformată pe subiect.
Părintele Serafim Rose reușește, în această carte, să scoată la iveală boala care a început, în ultimele secole, să perturbe omenirea, împreună cu filosofiile care au contribuit la apariția acesteia. Totodată, oferă omului modern o cale de ieșire.

RO: Povestea este foarte bine scrisă, având interconectări interesante cu lumea pe care o concepem ca reală. Ilustratorul care a lucrat la serie s-a priceput să atragă atât noi cititori, cât și pe cei care au fost deja interesați încă din sezoanele trecute.
RO: Sfântul Paisie Aghioritul a devenit una dintre cele mai accesate surse moderne de ajutor duhovnicesc, atât pentru persoanele ortodoxe, cât și pentru cei de alte confesiuni sau chiar religii. Colecția de discursuri publicată de Editura Doxologia este foarte bine structurată și organizată, facilitând lectura chiar și pentru un novice în teologie. Mi s-au părut foarte interesante atât relatările personale ale călugărilor, cât și micile povești despre oamenii care au primit ajutor. Recomand această carte oricui este interesat de viața spirituală!

The collection of discourses published by Doxologia Publishing is very well-structured and organized, making it easy to navigate even for a novice in theology. I found both the personal accounts of the monks and the little stories about people who received help to be very interesting. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in spiritual life!

EN: I can say that this book is exactly what I was looking for. It is an artbook dedicated to people interested in Byzantine art, who want to learn not only about the artist but also about the ideology behind the brush.
EN: The author seems to have been deeply influenced by prominent thinkers of the past, especially Plato, both in style of expression and in the substance of his thoughts. The selected essays are cleverly interconnected with contemporary themes, highlighting a modern perspective on reality. I've given it 4 out of 5 stars because I encountered difficulties in finding a logical justification for the titles of the essays. While reading in the park, I noticed curious looks from people when I came across a semi-political title of an essay in the series, which made me feel uncomfortable reading in public. Nevertheless, overcoming this discomfort, I believe the modern individual can draw valuable lessons from these writings.
RO: Autorul pare să fi fost profund influențat de gânditorii de marcă din trecut, în special Platon, atât în stilul de exprimare, cât și în substanța gândurilor sale. Eseurile selectate sunt ingenios interconectate cu temele actuale, evidențiind perspectiva contemporană asupra realității. Am acordat 4 stele din 5, deoarece am întâmpinat dificultăți în a găsi o justificare logică pentru titlurile eseurilor. În timp ce citeam în parc, am observat priviri curioase din partea oamenilor când am întâlnit un titlu semi-politic al unui eseu din serie, ceea ce m-a făcut să mă simt inconfortabil citind în public. Cu toate acestea, trecând peste această neplăcere, cred că omul modern poate trage învățăminte valoroase din aceste scrieri.
RO: Ca nuvelă istorică, Vinland Saga debutează într-un mod captivant, aruncând cititorul direct în mijlocul acțiunii și prezentând lumea intensă a războaielor dintre danezi și englezi. Aștept cu nerăbdare să descopăr direcția în care se va îndrepta această serie, deoarece primul volum este cu adevărat promițător!

RO: Mi-a plăcut să citesc această carte nu din cauza originii japoneze a autorului, ci pentru că, pe lângă poveștile amuzante și opiniile religioase, am găsit lucruri foarte moderne care contrastează puternic cu ele. M-a făcut să simt că nu sunt singurul care a gândit astfel.

EN:I've read “Socrates' Defence” by Plato 5 times so far. In my opinion, this book should lay the foundation for anyone who wants to find and assert their own point of view in any free debate. The way Socrates defends himself using his words seems at first glance to be very simple, highlighting the truth and emphasizing the mistakes in the accusations. However, upon a second reading, you can understand the accused's way of thinking, showing a desire to find meaning in his life, accepting as possibly true, ideas that are contrary from a logical point of view. In conclusion, Socrates, has his ideology indirectly felt to the present day.
RO:Am citit “Apărarea lui Socrate” de Platon de 5 ori până acum. În opinia mea, această carte trebuie să stea la baza oricărei persoane care dorește să își găsească și impună propriul punct de vedere în orice dezbatere liberă. Modul în care Socrate se protejează folosindu-și cuvintele pare la prima citire ca fiind foarte simplu, acesta evidențiind adevărul și subliniind greșelile în atacul primit. Însă la o a doua citire, îți poți da seama de modul de gândire al acuzatului, acesta prezentând o dorință de a găsi înțelesul în viața sa, acceptând ca posibil adevărate, idei care sunt contrare dintr-un punct de vedere logic. În final, Socrate, își are ideologia resimțită indirect până în prezent.
EN: The way the author creates the literary world is interesting and sometimes ironic. Although I initially liked the first two stories, reading the third one made me realize the written form of the work, which, for me, did not work and left much to be desired.

Unlike other writers, Jules Verne makes the characters feel like old friends telling you their life story. This makes you care for the people in this book, unlike other ones I've read.
