The book didn't grab my attention until I was about 70% done with the book. I did like how Melanie Benjamin wrote in depth about each of the characters. Overall, the book was not the best, but reading more about who the real Alice from Alice Adventures in Wonderland did gravitate me towards reading this book. I also think if you enjoy historical fiction, this would a book you may enjoy.
I really did enjoy this book. I have read a few books on the topic of Hell before. There are many things I like about this book. I enjoy the appendix and the number of footnotes, so I can look up more information if needed. I do like how he explained what happened after God brought him to hell. Overall, I think this is a decent book.
I really enjoyed this book. From reading the synopsis I thought this book was going to be completely different than what it actually was. I do think this is a topic which although sensitive is something in which people should be more aware of. I do like how the characters are all different and how they each have a place within the book. Overall, I recommend this book to teens and parents.
This book was a unique book to me. Not in the way in it's ending but the way it was written. I do like Herman Koch's writing style and the way the story weaves between the past and present. Although the ending was a little shocking, it didn't really surprise me. The writing to me did make up for this. I liked the stream of consciousness with the mixture of the scene. Overall this is a great suspense book and I will be looking into more of Herman Koch's writing.
This book was fantastic. It changed my life. I highlight so many things and I took a lot of notes. I love the honesty that Kyle and Kelsey put into their book. This book was really relatable to me and I loved how they always brought the subject back to chasing God. I highly recommend this book to all girls and women.
The book is a sad, but beautifully written book. The book I feel discusses the topic of being loneliness and how it can sometimes affect a person. I also like the way Ernest Hemingway described things in detail. I also liked the simplistic setting of this book. This was my first Ernest Hemming way book and I can't wait to read more from him.
The premise of the book was interesting, but I was let down. On Goodreads it says if you like Alice in Wonderland, The Twilight Zone and Caroline than you will most likely enjoy this book. I didn't feel this to me true. Although it does have some of those elements in the book, the descriptions weren't strong enough. For instance if the author could have written more of the five senses into this book than I would have been more immersed in the book. The characters to me also seemed a little flat. This maybe because the book was geared for ages 8-12 (so basically middle grade). This may have been written this way so the book wouldn't have seen as complicated and if this is true I can understand that. I did enjoy the illustrations as well. The book ending seemed so incomplete to me. Overall, I do recommend this book because it is a simple read with an interesting premise.
I did enjoy this book and I do have a lot of passages I wanted to highlight. I didn't feel that there were to many perspectives. Many times I was confused of which character was which. I mean the story was touching, but the overall plot didn't really stick with me. I have read other books my Melody Carlson and overall I do enjoy her writing. This book just sort of missed the mark for me.
I am diappointed I didn't like this story. The content is very dark, dealing with murder and a difficult family life. I had read another of Alice Sebold's books which was The Lovely Bones and that I enjoyed. This book however left be very confused. The constant flashback and stream of conciseness left me unsure of some plot elements. Overall, I didn't enjoy this book, but I do plan on reading her memoir Lucky and I hope I will like two out of three of her books.
The book made the Bible feel so alive to me. Sometimes when I read the Bible I have trouble picturing in my mind what life was like for Jesus and His family and friends. I loved reading about each of the characters in this book and I connected with them in ways that I didn't think were possible. I also was reminded to help those who are less fortunate and to always share who Jesus Christ is and to let nothing stand in my way because Jesus Christ is the greatest friend anyone can have.
This book was so wonderful. I recommend this book for all Christians no matter how long you have been one. This book has taught me a lot and reminded me of things I have forgotten. Although this book isn't perfect I still agreed with a lot of the authors points. If you can I suggest you pick this book up.
This book pulled me right in and I couldn't put it down. The only thing about this book I didn't like is that it seems unrealistic with the situation of Allyson and Willem. But I must remember that this is a work of fiction. I am glad this wasn't a romantic story, but one about self-discovery and not letting people make decisions for you. I may end up skipping the second book and just read the novella of Just One Night because Willem's point of view doesn't interest me. Can't wait to read the novella.
I was really hoping I was going to love this book, but it was just okay. I felt the plot seemed a little juvenile in the way it was presented. The story didn't get interesting until I was about 80% done with the book. I may read the next book in the series just to see what happens to the characters. Overall, this book could have been better, but I think if I was around the ages of 14-16 I would have enjoyed this book a lot more.
AMAZING FIGHT SCENES AND AWESOMENESS!!
Jenna Moreci's novel Eve:The Awakening was so amazing. This book I would consider a scfi-fantasy action adventures with a hint of romance. There are many things I loved about this book. The first is the female heroine is great. The one thing I liked about her was that she wasn't perfect. The had her strengths and her weakness, which made her a realistic character. Another great thing about this book is that Jenna has a way of describing scenes which stick in your mind. When I wasn't reading the book, such as when eating a meal I was still thinking about the book. I had to remind myself that they weren't real people, but they were fiction characters. Even though Eve: The Awakening is in the scfi genre and it takes place way into the future, I still felt very connected to the book. Jenna also described the inter workings of the world all while not making things to scientific and boring. I highly recommend you pick up this book because it is great. There is cursing and graphic fight scenes, so I wanted to let you know of that if you are sensitive to that. This book is so amazing and thank you Jenna for allowing me to have an arc copy In which I gave an honest review.
