Wow. This was great!
Quite honestly I wasn't expecting much from this book, but Tillie Cole is just such an amazing author. I absolutely loved Tanner and Adelita together.
& their first sex scene? Whewwwww, totally hot.
I loved how Tanner overcame the horrible way that he was raised, and I definitely loved how you got a story not just of Tanner and Adelita, but of the other hangmen as well.
Review to come.
I know that I loved this book, but I honestly don't know how to put my thoughts into words. I think I may do a re-read before writing a full review.
I'm just so in love with this series.
This one didn't quite hit 5 stars for me, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't really good!
Both Walsh & Emmie were very strong characters. Their story didn't go the way that I had expected it to go, but I loved how it turned out. There was a good bit of drama; some things I saw coming, some I didn't. I love how the author includes chapters with the other members of the club. That kind of stuff really helps when I'm having a book hangover.
This book totally made me see Walsh differently. In the previous books, I didn't see him as anything special. My version of him in my head was a very bland man. Well....let me tell ya how much that fucking changed!
Swoon.
And I loved Emmie. My favorite quote in the book came from her.
It didn't matter how big and strong a man was, you kicked him right in the cock, and he was going to fall to pieces, simple as that.
^ That was me.
I can't stress enough how great these books are & how amazing this author is. Please read them. Please. You won't be disappointed.
Warning: Some of these books have potential triggers, so please be cautious if you are someone who is trying to avoid those.
The Haunting of Gillespie House is about a girl, Elle, who is house sitting for the Gillespie family while they go to a retreat. Soon after her arrival, weird things start happening. There is scratching in the walls, a door keeps slamming on its own, and there's a locked room with fluttering curtains. Elle starts having really vivid dreams about the house's history and she sets out to discover the mystery surrounding the Gillespie House.
I have to say that this is one of my favorite Darcy Coates novels. It was a quick read & it kept me interested until the end. I think the author did an amazing job at creepiness in this book, there were a few times that really got to me when I was reading.
I absolutely loved Elle, she had a quirky personality and once weird things started happening she didn't try to rationalize them too much, she caught on quite quickly that there was something else in the house with her. We don't know much about her past, which is great because we're here for the ghost story not her backstory.
Once the mystery surrounding the house and it's occupants were uncovered, the book had quite the happy ending. It was just really well written and it's everything that I look for in a good ghost story.
Bonus: there is a short story called Crawlspace at the end of this novel that creeped me the fuck out! This short story is the reason that the Haunting of Gillespie House was even written. So be sure to check that out too!
I am a huge Tillie Cole fan & I've been missing her dark romance lately. So I figured now is as good a time as any to dive into this series.
I would say that I would rate this more like 3.5 stars. It was a good start to the series and it kept me interested, but it had some issues.
Luka & Kisa's souls have been intertwined since birth. Tragedy separated them as teenagers. Luka was involved in something that made Kisa believe that he died but instead he was sent to a Gulag prison. There they wiped him of his memory, and pumped him full of drugs that made him just want to kill.
Meanwhile, Kisa is engaged to Alik Durov, her childhood friend & business associate of her father. However, Alik is an abusive POS and makes Kisa's life hell.
Honestly, one of my main issues with this book was that Kisa's father (The mother effing mafia boss) could clearly tell that Alik was abusing his daughter....and he did NOTHING.
I was waiting for Mafia Daddy to go all Godfather on Alik.
Spoiler alert: he doesn't. Annnnnnnd I no longer respected him as the head honcho.
There was a lot of angst, but I'm happy with how it turned out. It's a dark romance so there are definitely triggers in this story. Honestly I wanted to say more about this book but I read all 4 in the series within a week and now they all kinda mesh together in my head. Whoops.
I absolutely LOVED this book.
Michael & Holly became my favorite characters rather quickly. I love a Hero that's different. Michael wasn't funny, he was awkward & didn't know what to say half the time. But, it made me love him even more because it gave a more realistic feel to the story. I wondered if maybe he was on the spectrum a little bit or if he was just a quiet, awkward man? The author didn't touch on that, so I'm guessing it's the latter.
Holly was really sweet & I instantly liked her. She broke my heart with her back story, and then it further broke my heart that no one besides Michael liked her. She had absolutely no friends and no one that she could talk to. She was a strong character though, and I really clicked with her personality.
Something that I really enjoyed, even though it's technically Michael & Holly's story, you get chapters with the other characters too. Some people think that it takes away from the story itself, but I LOVE seeing how the other characters lives are playing out!
The only thing that I'm disliking about this series so far is...Ghost. He fucking kills me. I'm a little late to posting this review, but I'm already almost done with Walsh's story & I read the novella. Ghost hasn't gotten better, he still pisses me off. In other MC books that I've read, the Prez always has a soft spot for the ladies that his men care about, because they have a lady at home who they would kill for & they understand that their men would do the same. Ghost doesn't seem to care about his brothers like he should, which to me is realllllly shitty. Not to mention, he has done some shady shit. (In Fearless with Ava.) It's gonna be interesting to read his book. Hopefully it will give me some insight as to why he's such a major asshole.
Sorry, got off topic a bit. I seriously loved this book & I know that I'm gonna love the rest of the series. The author is amazing. I can't stress enough how well written these books are. These books aren't for the faint of heart though, if you do not like to read about dark topics I suggest you find something more light-hearted.
Holy Shit. Where do I start?
Finally, this series is over. (Technically there's still one more, but it doesn't continue this story, just adds some more depth to what we've already read.)
IMO, this was the best book in the series. Don't get me wrong, I loved each of the books in their own way but this one gets two thumbs up from me.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!
I loved and hated this series all at once. It kept me wanting more, while at the same time wishing that they would just get their shit together, stop fighting, and live happily ever after. There was SO MUCH DRAMA! Every good story has a little drama, but fuck enough is enough.
& That's why this one is my favorite. The first couple of chapters were absolutely heartbreaking. I felt for Tessa, because I myself had to go through a very similar situation where the scene with her dad was concerned. I was so happy that she stood her ground with Hardin throughout this book, she didn't let him run all over her like he usually does.
It took him YEARS to be able to make up for every shitty thing he has done to her since their relationship started. Which made me ecstatic, I was so worried that she would just forgive him like she always does and continue the vicious cycle. Fortunately, she realized that they couldn't work and decided to work on herself instead. Hardin followed suit and pretty much became a different person. (Thank god!)
This book was more about healing, and that's honestly what saved the series for me. (I still would have liked it, just not nearly as much as I do now.)
There were a couple of reasons why this didn't get 5 stars:
1. When they were apart for the two years at the end, I realllllly reallllly wish that they wouldn't have seen each other during that time. I think it would have made their reunion that much sweeter.
2. When he asked her what was the worst thing he has done to her, she said the bet....wait..WHAT?!
After everything that he did, the fucking bet was the worst? To me, everything that went down in London was worse than that bet, that shit hurt my heart and made me ugly cry.
3. Last but not least, I absolutely HATE when an author just barfs everything out at the end. It was a beautiful epilogue, but since her last book was larger than the fucking bible, she could have gave us a little more. Like, maybe tell us the story of Tessa going into labor; Tell us if they got married or not. If they did, tell us the story of their wedding day; Tell us about Hardin's first time holding his daughter; Just tell us more. I could have honestly done without the 10 years later part, it held no value for me.
But, I digress.
I was pleasantly happy with this book, my least favorite part being the ending. (Which was still really sweet.) I honestly am so glad that I read this series, it was long, it pissed me off, made me cry, the characters were downright stupid at times but all in all it was a great series.
3.5 Stars
Damn, I thought I was never gonna finish this book. I have read books bigger than this one, but this shit put me in a reading slump for about a month.
With that being said...I did not hate the book, not even close. I actually really liked it, but there are a couple of reasons that it is not a 5 star book for me.
1. If you've read the first 2 books, you know these characters. Hardin is mentally and verbally abusive. For that, I knocked off a star. I don't want anyone feeling like it's ok to be treated this way.
2. It's pretty repetitive in the sense that all they do is fight. I honestly just want 75% of the book to be a happy and loving relationship. I understand that couples fight, but it's so dramatic. I felt like every other fucking page had them in a hellacious fight. This is why I was in a reading slump, I needed to rid myself of the constant drama that this series was dishing out.
3. There honestly was a lot that could have been cut out of the book. I love a good, long book like anybody else but some shit was just pointless.
This is definitely my least favorite book in the series, but I still loved it in my own way. There were good parts, parts that made me fall in love with the characters, parts that made me angry, parts that made me cry. To me, if a book can make me feel all these emotions, it's a good book.
I do have to say that I am half-way through the next book and I'm loving that one so far.
I am having a hard time figuring out how I feel about this book. This series is long, with the first book being over 500 pages, but I read it in a matter of days. I became fully engrossed in the series and I couldn't wait to get to the next book.
BUT...
This is where I feel like a fucked up individual. If I absolutely love a book, I fall in love with the characters. (As most people do.) So of course I fell in love with Hardin. My struggle is that he is definitely an abusive character. The shit that comes out of his mouth makes me want to punch him in the throat. (Ha! Now I'm the one being abusive.) But seriously, I am not okay with a lot of things that he does and/or says. He's mentally and verbally abusive and if I met someone like him in real life, I would legit run the other way. He treats her badly most of the time and I hate that I love him so much. I absolutely love Tessa, I feel like the Author writes her very well. She still infuriates me at times, but she is very relatable. If anything, this book shows how easy it is to get caught up in an abusive relationship.
I really did enjoy this series, but I can't give it more than 3 stars. I don't want girls thinking it's ok to be treated this way, because it's not. I will definitely be finishing the series, I just hope that it gets better.
I chose this book as one of my amazon first reads & it was the best decision!
This little novella was perfect for Valentine's Day & I'm so sad that it wasn't a full length novel. This was a great introduction into Abby Jimenez & I look forward to reading more of her work this year. This book was sweet, funny and serious AND it was written SO well! I will say that at first I was thrown off by the use of question marks that I believe were meant to be sarcasm or just plain statements. I see what she was doing but it just threw me off a little. I got past it though and I loved this little book.
5 Stars!
My first 5 star read of the year! I loved every second of this, I read it in a day and it was everything that I didn't know that I wanted in a book. I haven't read many books set in the Omegaverse, but this made me want to dive right in to that world.
The book starts off with Chelsea, a pregnant Omega, finding out that her ex-boyfriend/baby daddy died. Clark, the ex was a good guy. He had found out that he had a brain tumor and he didn't want Chelsea to have to upend her life to take care of him, so he broke up with her. He left her a good chunk of money for their baby. She used that to move to a new location and start a better life for them both. She moves into a beautiful rental house right next door to 3 super hot & single Alphas. Arden, Lincoln & Kase. This is the part where you have to remember what type of world you're in & suspend your reality a bit. According to Google: Omegaverse, also known as A/B/O, is a subgenre of erotic fiction that features a hierarchy of dominant, neutral, and submissive humans. The terms are derived from a now-discredited wolf behavior study, and the genre is often associated with animalistic elements Alphas: Dominant, strong, and bigBetas: Normal peopleOmegas: Submissive, delicate, and fragileHeats: Omegas experience strong sexual urges, cramps, and confusion during their heat. They often rely on an Alpha for care during this time. Mating bites: Alphas and Omegas may bite each other during heat or rut to mark their bond. This can cause intense pleasure, but it can also be painful. Due to this sort of thing, insta-love is MUCH more common. These alphas became obsessed with her pretty much from the get-go and this entire book happened within a 2 week time span. One of my most favorite parts was that we had an on page birth. SOOOOOOO many books just gloss over the delivery and it makes me so mad. The author knew what she was doing though. This was a pregnancy trope book and it was one of the best I've ever read. You can also tell that either this author did her research or has been pregnant before because I found myself relating to many scenes. I can't wait to read more of her books!
Jan. 2020 EditJust did a re-read on this one in anticipation for [b:My Maddie 27212272 My Maddie (Hades Hangmen, #8) Tillie Cole https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1574425279l/27212272.SY75.jpg 47254148]! Every time I read this book, I just fall more in love with the characters. 6-StarsWow, where do I even Start with this book? This is hands-down in my top five THREE favorite books list. I loved every part of this book with every fucking inch of my soul.Flame-Let me just say that I LOVE fucked up characters. They're my favorite because they add more depth to the story. I love that Flame wasn't normal, I love that Flame couldn't be touched, I love that the only emotion that he felt comfortable in was anger. & then Maddie came along and wrecked his world, in the best possible way.Maddie-She is by far, my favorite female character in the series. She is so wise at such a young age, which is understandable because of what she went through. She was treated the worst in the commune, so she also has a fear of being touched.I love that this book wasn't filled with sex. It was more about two people falling in love and overcoming their faults and more importantly their fears. There was so much emotion from both characters. I honestly don't know who's past was worse. I just loved the part when they first began touching and exploring each other in a nonsexual way. I love how Flame is so protective of Maddie, honestly he's obsessed with her & that's ok because she needs him to be. It's what makes their relationship work so well. When they touch each other in front of the club, I love how everyone gets so surprised. The ending IMO was perfect. I couldn't have thought of a better way to end it. There is absolutely nothing that I would change about this book, I just want more Maddie and Flame!!! I hope that eventually she does a book on Asher, I think that could be real intriguing...Kinda like if flame was normal, this is how he would've been. Side note: If you loved this book as much as I did, I strongly recommend reading Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward. It's not an MC novel, it's paranormal romance. But the main character, Zsadist has a lot in common with Flame. Zsadist is actually more aggressive than Flame. (Yes, I just said that!) The book is a part of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, which is a phenomenal series and I would strongly recommend it, just like I would recommend Hades Hangmen! WARNING: This series is not for the faint of heart, the stuff that goes down at the cult is super fucked up. If you get uneasy reading about dark, taboo things. I would probably stay away from this series. Also, this book could definitely trigger someone who has had a similar experience. It is very detailed and can paint a very vivid picture in your mind.
Umm...
This book was...intense?
I wish that goodreads did half-star ratings, because for me, this book was a solid 3.5 stars. I liked it, but it took me until about half the book to get into it. Only because, from the start of this series I could care less about the whole weird “prophet” storyline. The cult is interesting, there's just a lot of dark shit that happens there and I don't really want a whole book about it.
Honestly, I was not looking forward to this book...like at all. I didn't think that I would connect with the characters...but I'll be damned, the fucking thing had me in tears by the end. This book broke my heart (don't worry, it has a HEA), we're supposed to hate people who betray the club, but I really liked Rider from the beginning so I just couldn't hate him.
Rider and Harmony are sweet together. They probably have the tamest relationship of all, but it works.
There were SO MANY “too good to be true” moments at the end of this book which isn't bad...it's just different...slightly unbelievable on some of them. You'll see what I mean when you read the book.
One thing that I absolutely loved is that we saw little glimpses of our favorite hangmen and cult bitches. I think the author might have known that this would possibly be most of her readers least favorite in the series, so she kept it interesting by throwing the others in there.
All-in-all it was a good book. But, i'll probably skip over this one when I choose to re-read the series again. It had faults, but it also had beautiful parts too. Definitely worth the read!

I would probably stay away from this series. Also, this book could definitely trigger someone who has had a similar experience. It is very detailed and can paint a very vivid picture in your mind.
This was such a good book, Ky is this sweet, sexy, amazing badass that I instantly loved. The way that he cared for Lilah is the way all men should treat their women.
Most of the time, Delilah had me like this:
BUT...I had to keep reminding myself that she is so fucking brainwashed it's not even funny. The cult was all she knew, and then she gets dumped into this world where her “saviors” proudly display the devil/hades everywhere. When you grow up believing that the devil is inside you, that's not something you will overcome overnight. By the end of the novel, I had a lot of love for Delilah. Yeah, she was crazy but who wouldn't be if they were in her shoes?
One of my favorite and most fucked up parts of the novel were when Tiff & Jules attacked Lilah. It made me so mad and I was so disgusted by those bitches, but when Ky came in HOT DAMN! I was just sitting there like:
Those bitches got what they deserved.
All in all it was a great book, the only thing keeping me from that 5th star was that I couldn't connect with Lilah as well as I had with Mae. The Author did an amazing job on this one & I'm so excited to read this entire series!
WARNING: This series is not for the faint of heart, the stuff that goes down at the cult is super fucked up. If you get uneasy reading about dark, taboo things I would probably stay away from this series. Also, this book could definitely trigger someone who has had a similar experience. It is very detailed and can paint a very vivid picture in your mind.
So, I read the first three books in this series a couple years back. I loved it then & I loved it even more now. There are 7 books in the series and 3 novellas.
This first book is about Styx & Mae.
Styx is the president of Hades Hangmen MC. Total badass, just one problem...he has a stutter. (I honestly thought that this would bother me, but it made me love him even more.) He is known as the infamous Hangmen Mute.
Mae was brought up in a religious cult. She is a “Cursed” meaning that she is one of the most beautiful women in the commune, therefore, her and her 3 other sisters are basically shunned and treated horribly just for being beautiful. After tragedy strikes, she flees to the outside world where she lands right in the middle of the Hangmen MC. Thus begins the love story of Mae & Styx.
This book is SO SO GOOD. I absolutely love the way that the author wrote it. I fell in love with all of the characters very quickly. Mae was so sweet and pure, while Styx was badass, sexy, & protective. I couldn't stop reading this story, every chance and spare minute I got, I was reading. So much drama and action and the sex scenes were well-written. The cult stuff was rough to get through, but it shows that this kind of shit happens in the world, it definitely made me more grateful for the life that I was given. Even though I have already read the next two, I can't wait to dive into them again, and I definitely can't wait to read the others either.

This book isn't a true story, but from my understanding the author talked with women who had been rescued from a cult that was similar and they shared some of their stories with her, she wrote in some of those experiences.

Meh.
My first Rebecca Yarros book & it was....fine. The writing was good and I liked most of the characters well enough.
The pros: I liked Hudson, he was a good MMC. I liked Allie too even though she was mildly infuriating. Most of the side characters were cool.
The cons: the main “issue” could've been avoided if the two MCs would've just talked to each other like the adults that they are. I felt like this book needed flashbacks. I think I would've connected with these characters more if I could have known what made them fall in love with each other in the first place. The ending felt rushed & confusing. Why did Hudson go to Sitka instead of NY?? I thought he was moving to NY to make it easier to win her back. -Also, it completely glossed over Caroline being mad about......everything?? She was deceived by everyone she loved, she had a right to be mad for a few more chapters. -I figured out the mom thing pretty early on. I don't know why Alessandra still sought out her mother's approval. Idk why she didn't go no contact yearrrrrrrrrrrrs ago, but whatevs.
I will be trying out other Rebecca Yarros books. This one just didn't hit the spot for me.
My goodness.
This is a book that I wasn't sure how to rate. I mean, I liked it well enough. The time frame jumped around a lot, so at times I got confused. I really liked the parts with Elvis & I think that Riley's part in this book was a nice addition. We got two viewpoints and there were a few times in this book where Riley called her mother out on a few things. That made it feel very authentic. However, this was a short memoir and there were many things left out.
The emotion that I felt after finishing this book was just overwhelming sadness. I finished this up right before bed. That was a mistake because I got to the last 2 chapters and I was crying so much that it took me an hour just to calm down enough to go to sleep.
Those two chapters were about the death of her son, Ben, her and Riley's overwhelming grief & finally, her own death. Ben died by suicide and they were very open and graphic about those details. As a mother, that chapter was one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever read. Honestly, Lisa Marie's life was pretty heartbreaking & tragic. (At least the parts that she told in this memoir was.) I can't imagine going through everything that she went through and not having issues.

Meh.
I finally finished this book after what seems like forever. (In reality, it only took me 11 days. But for someone who reads quickly, this took me a while.)
I didn't by any means hate it. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I wasn't jumping to read it at every chance I got.
Bryce is a major asshole, and I didn't think that he would be able to win me over, but his backstory softened my heart for him at the end.
Bronwyn was weak. If my significant other told me that what I was doing for my daughter wasn't good enough, I wouldn't just sit there and cry about it. Them's fightin' words.
However, she did get better once she found that backbone. & I get it, I really do. She wanted a better life for her kid, but that didn't excuse his behavior. I also didn't think that he was as apologetic as Alessandro in the 1st book either.
If I had read this a couple of years ago, this would have easily been a 4 or 5 star read, but my tastes have changed over the years. Maybe this wasn't the right time for me to read this book, who knows. Like I said, it wasn't awful & if the blurb on the back sounds intriguing, give it a go!
As for me, I will not be reading the 3rd installment of this series. I felt that I had to push myself through this book, & I hate doing that. Maybe in the future I will give it ago, but for now I have other books on my to-read shelf calling my name.
I'm a morbid creature that likes to read about death & shit. So, when I came across this book I was really excited to read it.
Judy Melinek was a Medical Examiner in New York city from (roughly) 2001-2003. During her time there, she performed autopsies on 262 bodies.
This book had me hooked from the beginning. It flowed really well & was upbeat for a book based solely on death. I was worried that she would use too many medical terms and I would be completely lost, but while she did use the correct phrasing, she also explained everything in a way that the reader would understand.
It was really cool to hear about her cases. She had performed autopsies on all kinds of deaths such as: natural, accidental, suicide, homicide, & even mass casualty. I really enjoyed hearing about the homicides because it was like little mysteries thrown in there. She helped bring many of the victims families justice by working with the police to bring down the killers.
Everyone that's old enough to remember 9/11 has a story of where they were & what they were doing when those towers went down. Me? I was in 3rd grade and the teachers turned on the television to let us watch it for a while. We were too young to really understand what was going on, so when the towers started falling, they took us all to the gym to let us play. I remember that I had just started playing when my mom came and signed me out from school. She's really religious and seriously thought that the world was ending. My husband's birthday is actually on 9/11. He was also in the 3rd grade but no one had signed him out of school early because they were planning a surprise party when he had gotten out of school. Back then, people still used camcorders to record special occasions. Years later, I watched that recording & I have to say that it was the saddest party ever. Everyone was somber & stone-faced while he blew the candles out and opened up presents. The whole time, the 9/11 news coverage was playing in the background.
Judy Melinek told us the entire story of what happened to her on 9/11. Her and the team of medical examiners that she worked with put in long hours trying to identify every person that came to them. They rarely got whole bodies.
The tone of the book did indeed shift at this point. Reading about the world trade center (or any mass casualty) is very emotional. It made me see all of the people that helped with the aftermath in a different light.
To me, death is a very fascinating thing and if you think so as well, then I strongly recommend this book. I will warn you that it does go into detail, so if you're squeamish just be aware of that.
DNF
JESUS CHRIST.
I just can't with this book. Everything was going wayyyyyyyy too fast & I didn't get a chance to connect with the characters.
This book had potential to be good, it really did. But fuck.
My Issues:
1. Jenna really wasn't gonna tell Jimmy about the baby.
2. Jimmy doesn't want kids, but he's all gung-ho when he finds out. (If you really don't want kids, you're gonna need some time to yourself to process this type of thing. Hell, he didn't even act any type of way when he fucking found out about the baby!!)
3. Oh, so all of a sudden they're best friends? I call bullshit. You can't be best friends with someone you had a one night stand with & see once every month.
4. Jimmy proposed...
5. Jenna actually said yes?!?!?!
6. They barely know each other and they really just did that shit.^^^
...And I stopped reading at this point. It's not even half-way through the book. I don't know what's gonna happen with the rest & I don't really give a fuck. I can't sit through this cheese-fest any longer.
On to bigger and better things.
Joanna Wylde is one of my favorite authors and this series is one of my absolute favorites. I honestly don't know how it's not as big as the 50 shades series. This series contains 7 books in total:
1) Horse & Marie
2) Ruger & Sophie
3)Hunter & Em
4) Picnic & London
5) Painter & Melanie
6) Gage & Tinker
7) Puck & Becca (Technically this is a part of the Silver Bastards series, but their clubs have a strong bond with the reapers.)
So, this book is about Horse and Marie. Horse is a biker, hence the weird roadname and Marie has just gotten out of a relationship with her abusive husband and is living with her brother. Horse and Marie are drawn to each other from the first time that they meet, eventually issues arise and Marie has to go stay with Horse because of something that her brother has done.
This isn't my most favorite book in the series but it is very, very good! They use weird terms and some of the guys have really weird names, but if you are a SOA fan, then this should not bother you. Anyone who is thinking about reading this book/series should definitely give it a go!!
4-Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a quick read & if I would've had more time, I definitely could've read it in a day.
I didn't expect this book to be so...clean. & that's my fault cause I read books that leave very little to the imagination. I mean, there weren't even any curse words for fucks sake!! That didn't sway me though, I have read a lot of books which do the same thing, it just caught me by surprise.
Basically this book is about Theresa & Alessandro whom were thrown together in an arranged marriage. Theresa absolutely adored Alessandro & quickly fell in love with him, but he didn't feel the same way. Finally, Theresa gets a back bone after almost 2 years & tells Alessandro that she wants a divorce. Theresa didn't know that there were terms & conditions to her arranged marriage, but she quickly finds out what those are & a divorce won't be so easy. Alessandro finally finds his heart & realizes that he's falling in love with Theresa, but it seems like it's too late.
When Alessandro finally got his head outta his ass, he was filled with remorse about the way that he had treated Theresa, & she made him pay for it. The whole book was basically him trying to prove his love and newfound commitment to her & I LOVED it!!
Some things I didn't like:
-I felt as though exclamation points were used wrongly in this book. IDK, maybe I'm just weird about them, but to me they either mean angry or excited & at times the author put these exclamation points in and it just seemed too “chipper” & I really don't think that's what she was going for.
-USE CONTRACTIONS DAMNIT!! I can't stand when authors write too proper, to me it takes me out of the story because people don't f-ing talk like that. Now if I'm reading a historical novel, sure! But this book is based in present day, we're very lazy with our language & if we can shorten it we will.
But, I'm just being nit-picky. This really was a good book & I'm already on to the 2nd in the series!
How could you kill something which had already been dead for so many decades?
Well, I am pleasantly surprised by how creepy this little novella was!
I love a good ghost story. I love scaring the shit out of myself, and while this didn't exactly do that, it still gave me the heebie-jeebies when it was bedtime. It was original & a really quick read!
I'm definitely going to check out this author's other books.
