So, I read the first three books in this series a couple years back. I loved it then & I loved it even more now. There are 7 books in the series and 3 novellas.

This first book is about Styx & Mae.
Styx is the president of Hades Hangmen MC. Total badass, just one problem...he has a stutter. (I honestly thought that this would bother me, but it made me love him even more.) He is known as the infamous Hangmen Mute.

Mae was brought up in a religious cult. She is a “Cursed” meaning that she is one of the most beautiful women in the commune, therefore, her and her 3 other sisters are basically shunned and treated horribly just for being beautiful. After tragedy strikes, she flees to the outside world where she lands right in the middle of the Hangmen MC. Thus begins the love story of Mae & Styx.

This book is SO SO GOOD. I absolutely love the way that the author wrote it. I fell in love with all of the characters very quickly. Mae was so sweet and pure, while Styx was badass, sexy, & protective. I couldn't stop reading this story, every chance and spare minute I got, I was reading. So much drama and action and the sex scenes were well-written. The cult stuff was rough to get through, but it shows that this kind of shit happens in the world, it definitely made me more grateful for the life that I was given. Even though I have already read the next two, I can't wait to dive into them again, and I definitely can't wait to read the others either.

WARNING: This series is not for the faint of heart, the stuff that goes down at the cult is super fucked up. If you get uneasy reading about dark, taboo things. I would probably stay away from this series. Also, this book could definitely trigger someone who has had a similar experience. It is very detailed and can paint a very vivid picture in your mind.

This book isn't a true story, but from my understanding the author talked with women who had been rescued from a cult that was similar and they shared some of their stories with her, she wrote in some of those experiences.
