I honestly never thought I would enjoy thrillers. I have always enjoyed a good fiction and I often venture over to sci-fi, memoirs, and educational books. However Preston & Child have become some of my favorite authors. After reading several of the Pendergast stories, I decided to go back to read them in order. #4 was as good as the others. I'm hooked.
Actually, the audiobooks are great to listen to while I'm mowing my huge property.
I liked this story and yet disliked it. I give it high marks for making the characters seem so real, yet on the other hand there was a lot of whining and feeling sorry for themselves. I wish one of the female characters could have been a strong woman. Instead all the characters (Male and female) could have used several years with a therapist.
But I still give it three stars because I was engaged.
This is a story about one woman told by many who knew her. I wasn't impressed. There were a couple parts that were interesting, but overall, it was a quite boring book. The author pushed spiritual & religious beliefs along with & motivational thoughts throughout the story. I just don't understand why people like this author. Second one I've read by him, and still not a fan. I have one more in my “To Read” folder, because my friend recommended. But I wouldn't recommend this one.
Yes, I liked this story. But if you are thinking about reading it because it is about a summer in Greece, just know there isn't really much said about the country. The island of Mykonos is mentioned and the impression was that all the people there had brand name apparel and accessories. But I went to that island (along with others) several years ago and didn't get that same impression. It's an interesting story about three teenage girls who did teenage things and then their words and actions are used against them. The story is also about mental health and friendship and family. I didn't really like the ending, as I was left without a concrete closure. This may have been intentional if the author wants to write a follow-up book, but I'm not sure.
One minute into this story and I remembered why I enjoy reading books by James Patterson. Of course, having Bill Clinton as co-author is great too. I loved this story. I didn't want to put this one aside. It was engaging from the beginning. It was terrifying and sad and didn't seem like a fourteen hour audiobook. This is a great story to help readers understand what not only a current, but also ex-president has to endure. Yes, they choose that life, but we also need them, and need to make sure we are protecting them. It is also the story about a father's devotion to his child. I'd definitely recommend this book!
I'm making an effort to read old classic books. This was an interesting story. It was very engaging and I enjoyed the characters. I'm not certain why this is a book that is given as required reading in schools. There are many current authors who can write as good, if not better, than this author. Let's have students read stories relevant to the times. Of course, if the class is about historical fiction, then this would fit fine. It was good. It's basically a chick lit story about love & romance of long ago.
The second in the I love series. I enjoyed the first in the series, however there was too much detailed sex scenes for my taste. This one wasn't quite as bad, but I did skip past a bit.
I enjoy the writing and became engrossed in the story. The main characters are believable and interesting. I look forward to the next in this series.
Good story about a woman in a man's world. Singapore is a beautiful place, and yet along with the beauty and sunshine are the same woman versus man issues of the world. In order to compete, women often have to give up a lot more than men for the same rewards. But this story is more than that. Dara is the lawyer with no social life, but Amaka is the one who pretends to be living a life of luxury when her salary does not afford her that luxury. This story is also about the people we call family, whether by blood or not. And it is also about learning from our mistakes. I might recommend.
I enjoyed listening to this book. The author narrated his story of losing his sight. He was able to incorporate some very important information, along with some humor into the story to make it interesting for me. The type of blindness he has is a gradual blindness. He wasn't born blind and didn't have anything happen to him to make it happen. It is genetic. Many of the things he mentions about blindness and how he copes and how the public relates to him could be helpful for teaching people how to cope with others that have this or any other handicap.
I specifically enjoyed how he and his wife engaged his son, and I believe his son will be a very open-minded adult. I'd recommend to everyone.
I hated this story, but then I was hooked and loved this story. It was so many emotions. I felt sorrow and anger and guilt and fear! It is a story of friendship and distrust. It was a story about death and mental health. It was very engaging and at times funny and scary. I'll definitely recommend it to others.
