This was surprisingly good!
I've read Ariadne quite some time ago but I didn't really like it (I'm not even sure if I finished it tbh).
So I wasn't going to pick this book up but me being weak when it comes to Greek mythology I did anyways and I DON‘T REGRET IT!
I liked the different perspectives describing the Trojan war as well as their personal lives.
I loved Cassandra and Clytemnestra (wasn't so fond of Elektra)
I even got chills when reading some parts of the book (how Agamemnon sacrificed something for fair wind)
Overall, I would definitely pick this up if you're into Greek mythology and into feminism (or either one of those)
The final fight >>>>
Loved this book, might even be on the same level as the first one!
I found the quest really intriguing as well as the final fight. The plot twists in this book were really obvious imo, especially in comparison to the first one. And there was a little to much romance and miscommunication involved, but nonetheless a really good book!
3.5 ⭐️ a pleasant read, the reveal of what happened between Alex and poppy was a letdown though, otherwise I really enjoyed reading this :)
I was so excited to get into this book, because I loved the first one!
BUT I have to admit that it did not quite live up to it's hype and GGGTM and here's why:
- the plot was good because there were some parts I didn't see coming (like the motive) but a lot of the things where too predictable
- the ending felt a bit rushed and compared to book 1 not as elaborate and thoughtful
- the characters itself are likeable, even more than in the first book, but some where also pretty one dimensional
I know, I drew a lot of comparisons between book 1 and 2 but it is hard not to when you know, what Holly Jackson can do.
In the end, it was a good book that got me out of a reading slump and I would still recommend reading it, especially if you liked the first instalment :)
The first 80% of the book: how can a book be chill and intriguing at the same time?
The last 20%: plot twist after plot twist, every other page my mind was blown
I read a lot of queer romance books and I have to say, this one is perfect!
The characters are lovely, I enjoyed the story with its different side plots and the writing style is so easy to read while keeping you hooked.
I literally couldn't put this down and sat on my sofa for 5 hours reading this marvellous book.
Would love a part two to see where hani and ishu end up.
This is a story of rage, pain, loss and suffering. And it is incredible!
The characters are so fleshed out and real, it feels like I have known them my whole life.
The story is about censorship, war and politics but the book used this only as a way for their characters to wake up and find their own calling.
100% recommend, a book I will think about a lot
Such a cozy read
-felt like I was in Iran myself
-learned a lot about tea
-Darius is a great character and can explain his emotions very well
I haven't read a mystery/thriller book in quite some time, so I didn't really know what to expect and if the book will be able to hold my attention.
To my surprise, it did!
Right from the start, I tried to figure out (together with pip, the protagonist) who was responsible for the murder of Andie.
Let's just say, I did not expect the plot twist/reveal of what happened to andie.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I'm looking forward to grabbing the second book.
The best one!
Thrilling throughout the whole story, a lot of knots are tied up and it feels like a worthy ending for the series.
glad I skipped almost every other page, after reading this and a summary, I apparently didn't miss much.
One important thing happens in 1000 pages, I do not know how I will survive the next few books
The first half was a 5 star read, but the second half was a bit confusing and too packed..
I honestly cannot say if I loved or hated this book.
I loved the writing and the uniqueness of the story but I hated the characters.
I would definitely say that this is not a light read neither is it for beginners or casual readers.
There were so many parts in this book that I enjoyed & loved, but also every Rand POV bored me to death and I had to skip some lines, because it is always the same whining about how he is NOT the Dragon Reborn and just wants to leave everything. I got it im the first part bro.
On the plus side, Nyaeneve and Egwene had so much standalone adventure in this book, that was actually thrilling, so I loved reading the second half of the book.
Just thought of the Horn of Valere, which is the greatest. Most mysterious Item in this Saga, teased in Book 1, main premise of book 2, and it finally being used took maybe 2 pages in this 700 pages book???
Overall, loved some POVs, hated others, loved some characters returning (like Min), so I am excited for how the story continues.
I love the story and world building, it's so fleshed out and compelling.
Most of the characters are really likeable as well and I appreciate that we got a backstory for most if the characters.
Very excited for the second part!
Up until the last 80 or so pages of the book, this could have been a 4 star read!
It was so much better than lost symbol and I was getting my hopes up.
The ending though felt like Dan Brown is a transhumanist himself and he was trying to push some propaganda on the readers.
So weird and utopian

Ich fands sehr erfrischend, der Schreibstil unterscheidet sich sehr von anderen Autor*innen in dem Genre.
