The Origami Yoda Series is the absolute best of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid/Big Nate/Timmy Failure ilk. These books are uniquely funny, super readable, and oddly profound. Maybe I'm just nostalgic but I swear no other children's series handles Origami Yoda's peculiar strain of topics and themes with the same passion and nuance found here. It's complex and poignant stuff. Tackles educational ethics, fading fantasy and imagination, social ostracization, and finding human authenticity in a world that grows more jaded with each passing birthday. Worth a read no matter how old you are.
Hard to keep the characters straight; relying on fonts to differentiate the narrators = weak. But a cute, enjoyable read, nevertheless.
TRIPLE LOVED IT! I didn't want it to end. I wanted to read more of Dwight's crazy antics and Yoda's advice. And I'm not even a Star Wars fan...yes, I know, I should share that publicly.
Pretty fun book to read. I've not read a kids book for a long time and picked this up because of the Star Wars theme, and it's a surprisingly funny book. It's about a kid in school who folds a Origami Yoda and it dispenses wise advice even though the kid is kind of a loser in school. It even comes with instructions to fold your own! With plenty of references to the movies, this is certainly a non-Star Wars book for the young, and young-at-heart Star Wars fans.
