See allTook a while for the connections between different characters to fall into place. And the story doesn't end when you think it does. Overall, a page-turner.
Dialogue's still witty, or cheesy, depending on your mood. Still plenty of action, although it's a bit lacking in focus with the war between wizard and vampire still in the background, and the introduction of battles between knights of the cross and demons.
Reading this because I saw the HBO series. The account of the Marines First Recon's role in the Iraq war in the book provided much detail to what I saw in the series. An intimate first-hand account of a modern soldier fighting in a new kind of war.
Mix of commentary, observations, with plenty of humor. A look at a country that's cut off from the rest of the world.
