The Snow Queen

How this 180 year old story became the inspiration for Frozen, I’ll never know. Aside for the winter theme, there is no relation at all. The religious aspect should definitely be mentioned as not everyone is interested in reading / listening to it.

I have nothing to say about this story other than I have listened to it and I won’t be reading it again. There is nothing wrong with it but it’s definitely a fairytale for kids and it is religious when that aspect is mentioned.

I thought I'd give this a whirl since I wanted to reach my goal for the year in books read, but boy was this hard to get through. I understand the symbolism after reading a more in depth review on the story but overall just not my favorite.

I can kind of see how the frozen franchise was created from this. My little one loved this :)

I thought the reason this “story” makes no sense was due to a bad translation but after looking at other reviews, that just seems to be the incoherent nonsensical meaningless story that HCA was telling. That's really disappointing.

Other than the title, there is nothing that ties this story to the Disney movie Frozen.

I read this when I was really little (more like I tried to read while my mother said the words to me).
Recently (for the moment), with the Frozen movie coming up, I was intrigued when I read it was mildly based in this book. So I said, well, I don't remember anything about it, so, why not? Besides, I read it Spanish when I was little, so it was even better to read it in English.
The story was fun, cute, kind of dark, typical childish ridiculousness that you can find in kids books, but with a major message behind it all, as always.
I've always though that good kids' books have this really big, dark, profound theme masked with cute things and not-so offensive villains. This story was no exception.
I did have a small disagreement with the my mother about the queen. I didn't actually though she was bad. I mean, she didn't exactly show any signs of it, she looked natural to me.
It was a really fun read, a little longer than what I expected, and easy to read. You should all read it at some point.
