It was slow to start but man am i glad i stuck with this one. The audiobook really made this one come alive and i really enjoyed it.
The book surely has many many plotholes which if overlooked is a thrilling story with great twist at the end!
I was so intrigued by this book and super excited to read it. But honestly it was so slow and hard for me to get into, until the end of part 4. The ending and plot twist I thought was really good and unexpected. If it wasn't so incredibly slow for the majority of the book, I would have given it 5 stars.
So glad I gave this book a chance! I was so disappointed with The Maidens but this was a pleasant surprise. This was a fast read. Not a super obvious ending but if you're paying attention you are given enough clues to figure out what's going on.
I never got around to reading this during all the hype, and knew very little going in.
Finally jumped in after reading THE MAIDENS earlier this summer.

Living for the crossover elements. Need to do a deep dive on this now.

Loved the book!!!
Halfway through the book I stopped and was thinking of the various possibilities of what could have happened but I never thought of the one that had really happened....
I picked this up on audiobook from my local library on the Libby app after so many colleagues told me about this book.
I really enjoyed this story. I figured out the twist before it happened but I loved the story either way. It took me a hot minute to get into this novel because it had been so long since I had picked up a mystery/thriller novel. I loved that the author frames the story in a Greek tragedy and it really holds up nicely. I hear that his next novel has a little crossover with this novel, so I can't wait to pick that up.
Adorei demais! 4,5*
This is a propulsive read that kept me turning the pages. The story had some major plot holes which kept it from being a 5 star read for me.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a digital advance review copy.
Hahahahaha. This book literally made me lol at the ridiculousness of it.
i don't think i read the same book as everyone else did? because this didn't really work on any level for me. characters and motives, and even the twist, felt flat.
I enjoyed the book quite a lot. I listened to the audiobook as I drove for work and couldn't stop listening. The narrator is very captivating and makes the book very enjoyable to read. The book is really a masterpiece with not a lot to critique without nitpicking. Definitely a worthwhile read.
I thought all the narration in the diary to be rather unrealistic. I don't feel like anyone would write full conversations with direct quotes in a dairy, but it did not detract from the book at all. Also it may be my imagination or perhaps it is a purposeful choice for the narrator but there were parts that struck me as rather white idolizing. White characters were often referred to as looking like Greek statues with perfect porcelain ivory skin which stuck me as odd at times. But that may be just due to the narrator. Additionally, all non-British or non-American characters of the book were made a big point of being extremely assimilated to British culture. It's not a bad thing but I thought it was funny that it was pointed out clearly with multiple characters. It wasn't a big deal, but did strike me as odd.
This book had me completely absorbed in the story.
The conversation Theo had with his therapist really struck a cord with me.
As someone who studied art and psychology, this story of a psychotherapist working with a selectively mute artist at an in-patient psychiatric facility was right up my alley! I was so invested in figuring out what really happened the night Alicia shot her husband that I would end up reading 100 pages when I only intended to read 30.
I really loved how The Silent Patient is just as much—if not more—about Theo, Alicia's psychotherapist, and his own personal childhood trauma, marriage, and deter
An immersive psychological thriller that sort of went on like an ascending roller-coaster ride, building up the suspense, the excitement as the plot develops and thickens further and over and then.... an unexpected plot twist. If you're a reader who enjoys books without paying attention to certain (obvious) details, then you wouldn't notice the little cracks on the tracks that were slowly growing larger on your ascend. It's a psychological thriller in the form of a murder mystery. Fast-paced and incredible, I loved it! The ending left me with some ‘what ifs', nevertheless, I found myself satisfied and content.
This was a fast, fun read, well developed, and while one twist was obvious, at least to me, another did catch me by surprise. I was thoroughly entertained throughout. “Good Popcorn Reads” that are actually well written can be rare finds and The Silent Patient is that.
