Took this book from my dad's collection because I wanted something new and random to read. I found this so witty and funny! A random gem of a surprise when all said and read.
I really enjoyed Jonasson's writing style - it feels removed and somewhat dry, which is a lovely contrast to the series of absurd events told. Who would have thought bombs, murders and politicking across the decades could have such a whimsy.
Fun, silly little romp. Really two novels alternating by chapter: one about the farcical and somewhat improbable adventures experienced by the titular centenarian, the other about the rather more improbable course of his life. Jonasson really just runs wild; after the first few pages you just stop rolling your eyes and go along for the ride. I am in no sense better or wiser for having read this, but I enjoyed some smiles.
