Clearly Jason hiding his personal stake in the case was the root of most—if not all—conflict here, and I could understand why both Jason and Sam acted as they did after Sam put two and two together. Even though Jason's emotional response to Sam's reaction did strike me as overdone as in “what did you expect? You're the one doing something illegal
