Decently engaging and at times hilarious book to spend a couple of days on.
4.5 - 4.75 stars.
This was everything I expected it to be. I love everyone from the Thursday murder club so dearly! Their dynamic is just perfect. Just had a very good time reading this.
I've now listened to the first two audiobooks in The Thursday Murder Club series. These are engaging books for grown-ups as although I'm a couple decades short of the septuagenarian four members of the club, I don't think one much younger than I would appreciate the characters and the layers of story in the same way. I like the subtle, Britsh humor expressed in what I imagine is authentic language. This entry has numerous plotlines, which effectively converge in a satisfying, if a bit drawn out resolution. Although the story slows down sometimes with the mutiple plots, the characters are so endearing, I didn't mind spending more time with them. Especially b/c I listened to it over a 4000 mile epic roundtrip!
This series only gets better. Each main character is developed further, the sleuthing becomes more involved, and I become more attached. I love that the ending manages to surprise me, and I applaud Osman’s ability to evoke genuine emotion from the reader. Although this book functions as a stand-alone novel, it’s best read after the previous book. Highly recommend if a person enjoys British mysteries.
These are balm for the soul. Funny and engaging. I want to be like these characters. I didn't love the revenge themes, and one of the deaths was awfully sad (maybe unnecessary?), but overall, delightful.

This just wasn't as fun as the first book. That one felt cosy and lighthearted, but this one had stolen diamonds and the mafia....so less fun. Still love Joyce and the gang though!
Highly recommended but I don't know why. This is the second in the series that I have read and I guess it's going to be the last.
In this highly entertaining installment of The Thursday Murder Club series, the club members are all back, and they have a new mystery to solve.
Elizabeth's ex-husband, who also happens to be a member of MI5, turns up looking for a place to hide because some very violent men are threatening his life in relation to some stolen diamonds. When dead bodies start turning up, Elizabeth and the rest of the Thursday Murder Club (Joyce, Ron, & Ibrahim) begin investigating and become entangled in the search for the diamonds, which puts their lives at risk.
This book was such a delight to read. I found it to be better than the first book in the series. I was laughing from the very first page to the end. I will forever adore the members of the Thursday Murder Club. They are a great example of a found family. They are there for each other, even if it might mean death. The witty banter between these elderly individuals is so entertaining that I often found myself laughing out loud.
The plot is fast-paced and the stakes are often high. However, you almost forget the danger because the conversations between the characters make it seem like every situation is just another fun outing for the gang and not a big deal. This contrast is what makes the story so enjoyable and light-hearted in spite of the content (murder, spies, theft, etc.). While a lot of the action is unbelievable, I am not bothered because it is all just so much fun.
I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a murder mystery, but also wants a light-hearted laugh and lovable characters. I will definitely be continuing the series.
Another great fun read, quickly pulls you into the story and doesn't let you go until the end. Osman creates such believable characters in incredibly inconceivable situations so that you need to stay with them to find out what happens.
These books aren't going to change the world but they are great at taking you out of it for a while.
Much better than the Thursday Murder Club. Now that we know the members of the Murder Club we get to enjoy a fun, cozy mystery
The writing style is amazing and quite immersive, Richard does a great job with it. The characters are lovely. The story, the atmosphere - all very cosy. By this point I am convinced that Joice is a heart of the series. I listened to the book in audio narrated by Lesley Manville and I absolutely loved it, she did an amazing job! Totally recommend :)
Perhaps way too farfetched yet enjoyable all the same if you want some cosy mystery
I just love The Thursday Murder Club series. Richard Osman has an excellent writing style that makes his books an easy read that you can't put down!
A delightful follow-up for these charming oldsters with a mystery that was better devised than in the first book.
I listened to part of this as an audiobook and it drew my attention to how much I don't care for the writing style; it would be grand if they turned this into a tv series so I can enjoy the story without the writing.
Not as strong as the first one (which is a feat anyway) but still the same cozy murder mystery and familiar vibe of the lovely main cast, who I definitely will want to visit again and again.
A very pleasant and very British read. Smack in the middle of my comfort zone.
I loved this one so much, it was the perfect sequel. The characters were already introduced and we were able to see them develop. They were much more involved in the multiple mysteries going on wich made sense based on the actions that took place in the first one.
Will recommend this serie till the day I die I think!
I love this book. If you haven't read The Thursday Murder Club, you really should. And then read this one. A gang of senior citizens solving murders from their retirement community - it sounds like an odd concept but it is written so well, and with so much heart and humor. I love all these characters and cannot wait to read the third book!
