Fascinating story, well worth reading for insight into the experience of North Korean defectors.
The book is not particularly well written or well organized. I believe that working with a great ghostwriter would have delivered a much better book. Having said that, the story is so powerful that the book is worth reading and I believe it will stay with me for a while. Everybody know that things in North Korea are crazy, but a first person account like this is incredible.
I would like to thank the author for allowing her readers a glimpse into life in North Korea. I can't even imagine how brave she is and how much courage it took to break free from that regime. Books like this always make me wonder if I would be able to do the same thing. I hope I never need to find out.
This was a fascinating look at what one woman went through to escape North Korea. I really recommend it.
interesting story but a little disconnected. the early insights into North Korea where very interesting but the extraction and her later years seem very compressed and rushed. definitely worth a read on vacation.
