For lovers of domestic suspense, this is a great read. Lots of good twists. Satisfying ending.
I am surprised that I am so far out of sync with the other reviewers but I can't give this more than 2 stars. Those are for the first two or three chapters which I found ok but it became increasingly predictable and cliched and although I persevered to the end I wished I hadn't.
Such a twist and turn filled book! When you think you're surprised, wait up: there's more.
I finally was able to pick up this book, and I'm sorry I didn't sooner. If you are looking for a twisty mystery that keeps you guessing until near the end, this is for you. I flew through this book in just a few days, as it was easy to pick up and get back into the story. This is written well enough that you are rooting for the main character, while all the while wondering who is good, who is bad, is all this in her head? The author does a satisfying job of keeping you guessing (I only guessed a few things) and then wrapping it all up with answers. Trigger warnings for emotional abuse, divorce, and npd.
I loved The Other Woman by Sandie Jones, so I was hoping that this one would be just as good, if not better.
I think that I read this book the fasted I have ever read any other. I read it in less than 24 hours, which obviously means I think that this was a great book. And it was! I loved the storyline, the characters, the twists, all of it. I just don't think it was as good as The Other Woman. It probably didn't help that I read them both within a month of each other.
I think that The First Mistake was a little bit predictable, but I still enjoyed reading it. I enjoyed Beth's point of view more than Alice's, she seemed to have more going on, but they were both pretty gullible and relied too much on men. It was pretty realistic as well, so it could really happen to anyone.
I will definitely recommend this to anyone who is into thrillers/suspense. Anything by Sandie Jones is a must-read!
