This was a great beginning to a series! Delaney is getting to know Scotland, her coworkers, her landlords, and a cute guy. Because she feels for these people she wants to solve the mystery. The solution was a little out of the blue, but we did only have so many pages and had to get to know people and places also. I can't wait to read more in this series and find out what else is happening at this unusual bookstore.
I enjoyed this story, but I have to say, the real star is the setting (Edinburgh). The mystery is kind of secondary to the setting and the characters. But still, it was a lot of fun, and a great bit of book-travel!
This was so much fun. There was quite a bit going on but the characters were lively and interesting. There's so much of The Cracked Spine Bookshop to explore so I will definitely be reading more of this series.
This kind of mystery was bit too genteel for me. At first the Scottish dialogue was fun but it became tedious. Not sure all the loose ends were tied up, either. Still, OK for what it was.
3 stars This was pretty entertaining, but I had some issues with the storyline. Mainly I thought it was pretty strange that Delaney decided to “investigate” when she had only just moved to Scotland didn't even know these people and nobody ever questioned her actions. Also the author seems to not know the difference between introvert and agoraphobic and that seriously bugged me. I'm probably going to read the next one in the series at some point though. I need to know what will happen with Tom and I like the McKenna's.
