The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World

I wanted to like this book, but it just dragged on and on. I honestly didn't get very far into the book and couldn't finish. So sad. This is very unlike me, as I rarely have a DNF.

Excellent! My husband and I loved it so much we founded an event, The Gathering of Joy, based on the book. We held the first Gathering of Joy last week, at Rancho La Puerta, and it was heavenly. I put the lessons taught in the book to work on several occasions when I felt angry or frustrated and was pleased to see that they actually worked to help me change my focus and thereby change my mood.

What an idea for an event! Archbishop Desmond Tutu meets the Dalai Lama. Imagine: a book about an extended conversation between two spiritual, thoughtful people. Who would have thought this book would be widely read in the US?

Well, it gives me hope.

The conversation is amazing. Two people who love people and care about the world talk. It is amazing.
