Overall, a decent start to the GN, a lot of open ended-ness in the first vol, but i'm looking forward to vol. 2 &3! The art is so stunning!!

I don't know what Bryan Lee O'Malley was doing here, really. Lottie Person is a fashion blogger, trend setter, and all around would-be Kardashian. She's a little vapid, a little shallow, but pretty likable (don't ask me how). Her actual life is a mess – she has horrible allergies – crazy horrible (hence the name), has been recently dumped, and maybe, just mayyyyybe killed somebody. She's not sure – neither is the reader.
What follows (for about 80% of the book), is Lottie bouncing around between social engagements, possible hallucinations, and run-ins with her ex and his new girlfriend. Throw in a fashion-conscious cop and things get pretty interesting (and confusing).
I loved the art – it was a little strange to see this kind of art attached to O'Malley's writing, but I really liked Hung's work. Yeah, her white guys tend to look too much alike to easily tell the difference (that might be intentional) – but otherwise, I really liked it – everything jumped off the page, the drawings were filled with energy and life. Every time I thought about bailing because the story just wasn't working, the art kept me in.
I just don't know what to make of this – I enjoyed it, but man . . . I really wish I knew what was going on. I can handle it for a little bit longer – but not much. Volume 2 had better be a little clearer (or a little something else). I'm not going to wave potential readers off, but I'm not going to encourage anyone either.
This is a really strong start to this story. Lottie is a fashion blogger on the internet and everything in her life is pretty superficial and she is also very superficial. She doesn't really have any good friends just some other fashion bloggers that seem to use each others popularity to create a circle of mutual interest. She's shallow and a plastic kinda character that wants something more in her life actually makes for a pretty good read. There is a big mystery going on and her taking a new medicine to cure her allergies (which prevents her nose from running like a faucet) makes her a unreliable narrator, her circle of friends are also unreliable, and her new friend is possibly dead? It's really a pretty good set up and the art in here is absolutely gorgeous! ~Ashley
I suggest YA to adult for this read.
man I was looking forward to reading this comic for YEARS and I’ve been so let down with how unlikeable the entire cast is ToT
If I were reviewing just for the art alone this would be 5 stars. The plot is interesting but these characters are so unlikeable.
Really superficial materialistic popular-girl themes and I'm not quite sure if the whole Caroline bathroom incident was supposed to be metaphorical and deep or something, but it wasn't executed that well. However I love the art style and it was really entertaining, even if the charactees are kind of insufferable lol
I had such high hopes for this one. The problem is, I have a difficult time liking books that feature unlikable and/or unreliable narrators and this one features both. Lottie is pretty self-absorbed and SUPER judgy! The way she treats people based on their looks makes it impossible for me to care about her, at all. Then throwing in the plot with her meds... I'm not even sure what is going on and that isn't something I usually like.
This was not the most enjoyable read but it's entertaining. The arts wasn't my favorite but it was good,
Lottie aka Snotgirl is a fashion blogger and she makes her self seem perfect , every thing she post makes her appear beautiful and stunning. But she has terrible allergies that she doesn't want anyone to know about, and she never lets anyone sees her for who she really is , because she thinks that people won't want be near her if they got to really know her.
Lottie's friends all seems as fake as she is but I surprisingly love them .
I love the art, don't really like the characters, but there's something intriguing about the whole thing that makes me want to read the next volume. I think it has the potential to be genuinely good, right now it feels like a mostly solid but still kind of shaky blueprint for the series. If nothing else, it is very nice to look at.
4.5 stars Beautiful artwork and super intriguing storyline! Really looking forward to the next volume!
I'm like too conflicted to rate this.* I didn't know what to expect going into it. Maybe I expected O'Malley to have another winner like he did with his others (although I've yet to read Lost at Sea). In the beginning, I found it somewhat comical, but then it just became obnoxious, although it might have been Lottie herself. The art style was good and fit the story, but I didn't understand the direction it [the story] was going. Even after reading the ending I'm still unsure. I want to give it a 2.5, since it wasn't the worst graphic novel I've read, but it doesn't quite deserve 3. And maybe it's just a flatout 2-star book.
*I don't want to erase any of this so I'm just going to give it 2
