I loved the way she spoke of Michael Jackson, very humanizing.
I was perplexed at her relationship with her father. I was happy that she was at peace with it. She found humor in it, and a way to make it all about her 😉
. . .
The Ted Kennedy part was extremely odd.
Oh, Carrie. She has such a gift with words in explaining her often really sad and tragic life story in the funniest way possible. I'm glad I'm finally getting around to reading her memoirs because they are spectacular.
It's not an exaggeration to say Carrie Fisher had a, to say the least, very interesting life. Each of her memoirs go into more detail on a certain part of it, and this one very much focuses on her family and some of her family's closest friends or connections to them. A lot of interesting stories about people like Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor, but also a lot of heartbreaking stuff, especially when it comes to her relationship with her dad. Having it be narrated by her also really adds to the emotion of it.
More in-depth, funnier and more touching than Wishful Drinking. Plus, a lot of things I didn't know about her :)
The title and cover are a bit misleading. This is a book more about Fisher's relationship with her parents than anything else. It's also pretty short. But it's good fun nonetheless.
