shine your icy crown focuses mostly on sisters and their relationship. I liked that a lot because I like positive female friendships in books. There's a lot of the older sister giving advice to the younger one and (thankfully) I didn't feel like the advice was too cheesy or unwanted (I have an older sister and sometimes I don't always want to accept the advice
As always with Amanda Lovelace, there's the important theme of self-love and self-empowerment. In this one it's the big sister telling the older one to be more happy. Care less about what other people think. Stand up for yourself, make your voice the loudest advocate for you. Lets the younger sister know that even though others might not love her, her older sister always does.
Another favorite, I am enjoying this new series of hers even better than the “women are some kind of magic” series. I cannot wait until the third comes out!
Amanda Lovelace has done it again. Every poetry book I read from her has made me cry and this book is no exception. This poetry book speaks on the experiences that young girls go through throughout their lives. I. could relate to many of these poems and that broke my heart. While reading this I felt empowered and strong. The writing was once again amazing.
That being said, there were some poems that felt kinda felt to me. That could just be a me thing though. I am giving this book 4/5 stars.

the only one stopping you from holding the moon in your own two hands is you.i feel seen.i've been a fan of the author for a long time and naturally i was excited to read her latest collection and it did not disappoint. i think i can safely say that i can add this to my favorite poetry collections because it has definitely left a mark on me.i was pleasantly surprised by the tw list at the beginning of the book and that's one thing i appreciate, alongside the amazing illustrations that fit the theme perfectly.the poems are empowering and beautiful and i found myself relating to most of them. i enjoyed it and i also enjoyed the first volume so i can only say that i'm so excited to see what the series has in store for us.***i received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. all the opinions are my own.
I love amanda lovelace's take on poetry and this book was no exception. She excels at telling a story, word by word, she breaks you down and builds you up, and honestly who doesn't need that. When it comes to ‘shine your icy crown' this book is no exception, much like her poetry book ‘break your glass slippers' where she used a ‘fairy godmother', there is a voice that is constantly reminding you of your worth. I wish I could pocket it and take that voice with me.

CW: child abuse, toxic relationships, sexual assault, eating disorders, mental illness, self-harm, sexism, suicide, trauma
This is the second installation in the series “You Are Your Own Fairy Tale” and I can honestly say that Amanda Lovelace never disappoints.
Her pieces are always poignant, relatable and easy to pick up. It's impossible to stay indifferent in front of a Lovelace's poem because they know how to get under your skin.
Lovelace speaks the truth on important topics such as feminism, anxiety and depression, most of the time intertwined.
The art is gorgeous and it really contributes to the magic of Lovelace's words.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an early copy.

As a big fan of Lovelace's poetry, seeing a new book available is an auto-request for me.
I loved book 1 in the you are your own fairy tale series, and book 2 - this book - didn't dissapoint either!
I could recognize myself a lot in the poems that were written in this book. I could really identify with most of them, which made my reading experience very insightful.
Lovelace's words are so heartfelt and soothing. This book will for sure be an auto-buy when it releases!
I give this book 4,5 out of 5 stars.
