I like plays but this one didn't work for me! I found it boring. I keep comparing every book I read from my first one of this author which I love and nothing is quite as strong. I really didn't feel the connection between hero and heroine. I'm going to keep trying to find the perfect book again though.
“He's an aristocrat and all aristocrats are horrible, so I don't want him!”
“I want him but he's an aristocrat and I'm just a common playwright, so I can't have him!”
“She's beautiful and I'm a rake so I want her!”
“She's somehow different from all of the other women and I want her! But shall never marry.”
“Never mind, let's get married.” “OK.”
The End.
Zoe Archer, come back!
This took a little while to get started for me and never really came to life in the same way that the first book in the series did. I liked the MC but the hero was pretty meh. Not a bad read at all, nothing that really took me out of the book or anything, but not as much fun as the first. (Also, I came back to add this: I usually don't care a ton about historical accuracy in my historicals, but Regency heroines talking about “privilege” in a way you'd find on Tumblr c. 2015 is just really distracting.)
