This is nr two of a series where I priviusly really liked the first one. Desided to read nr two.
In this book, Nadya doesn't trust her magic anymore. Serefin is fighting off a voice in his head that doesn't belong to him. Malachiasz is at war with who–and what–he's become.
it was a difficult time sorting threw what I felt with this book.
At times it just felt too much made ut. The rituals getting insain and just it made no sence. There was small hints of tesion between caracthers I did enjoy but in general it was just a huge no to me.

Definitely not as good as the first novel but still enjoyable.
I am devastated. I can't event bring myself to write a review.
Blessed Monsters will be the end of me. Oh gods. *crying intensifies*
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Okay, here is the thing. I love the characters. These murder babies are adorable and they are fun. Their conversations are such a joy to read. The adventure is also super interesting. I love the concept of the book and when I think back (I read this... 4ish months ago) on it, I have mostly positive thoughts.
The thing is... it is mostly confusing. I wasn't exactly sure what was going on while I was reading it and even afterwards I'm confused with what happened and where it is going. There is also a lack of trust between the characters, so they don't know exactly what is going on either, which means the reader isn't exactly sure what is going on. So, I did have to push myself through this one at times.
I'm thinking once I read the third book, I'll understand this one more, so if I ever go back to re-read the series I would enjoy it more. Maybe...
Anyhow, like I said, looking back I think of this book fondly and I do recommend this one to people who like gothic fantasies.
This book...this series... is perfection, IMO. The way the characters circle around each other strange and frustrating and flawed and so loveable all at the same time. Just perfect.
My heart hurts so I'm grateful for the break before the next book but at the same time I need it now!
What. A. Book. I wasn't sure I would even read this because I had such a hard time connecting with the first in the series but blood and bone did I love this one. We pick up with our cast of characters after the devastating events at the end of the first book. The connection I had been looking for with Nadya, Serefin, and Malachiasz in the first book that had felt weak, immediately sucked me in and I was fully invested in their journey. This book had everything I had been looking for in the series. There's wild, dark magic, battles with ancient gods and goddesses, torturous romance, and high, high stakes, that kept me hooked the whole way through. This book will break your heart, put it back together, and break it all over again--in the best way possible! Not for the faint of heart.
