I didn’t care for this book as much as the first two.
The female lead was great; it was just the male lead that I didn’t care for. I really didn’t like that the male lead takes so long to see the female lead for who she is and accept her. He was also funnier in the other books, but he loses his personality in this book. The chemistry is not there. I kind of wish that she would have found someone else as she did deserve better.
The writing and other characters are still well done but the romance isn’t there. The female lead is the best part of the book and others may like to read this book just for her. I can get why the male lead is jealous of her.
Lovely Story and around a 3.8 for me in score. In comparison to the show, I like it immensely better for Penelope and Colin. In the book they are a lovely couple who gets to renew what they know about each other since becoming adults in their own rights. I do wish there was more of a build up for the switch from invisible sister to love interest but otherwise pretty decent. I like the self reflection in this one as the characters themselves are aware when they are being boorish and are able to work through that. I also appreciated Lady Danbury's and Penelope relationship and would have loved to have seen that in the series as well. If Like me you didn't like Penelope and or Colin in the show you may be able to at least better appreciate them in the books, as they are a very different kind of character in the story. I also appreciated the small peek at how Lady Whistledown came to be was nice as I have always been curious. I'm actual upset at Colin for ruining a more extensive story of how that whole situation came to be.
AHHH 4.75!!!!! some of the things that were said about penelope bothered me, so that's the only reason it's not 5 stars. best one of the series so far i'm obsessed :,)
3.5 stars.

Probably my least favorite, second epilogue of the Bridgerton series so far. It barely has anything to do with the central couple and more to do with Eloise finding out Penelope‘s secret. But the resulting story doesn't offer much. I would much rather it have been a peak into Colin and Penelope‘s married life.
I've been buddy reading this series with Ashley this year. She has already finished all 8 books in the series so I have some catching up to do. This is my favorite book in this series so far. I love Penelope and Colin's romance. I will say I think all the Bridgerton men can be stupid at times and Colin is no exception. We learn who Lady Whisteldown is in this book. I was between 2 characters and one of them was right but I did end up getting spoiled for who it was before I read it which is annoying but it was my own fault. I', curious to find out how/if Lady Whistledown will still play a part in the story from here on out.
I really liked this book. I can't wait to see how the tv series will turn out in comparison!
Polin is such a sweet and passionate couple!
There are some details in Julia Quinn's writing that are ridiculous, like “ancient act” or how she put it :-D I think she has mentioned it in every one of the 4 books I've read now :-D
Also, in this book “he released the breath he didn't know he was holding”
But, those are so typical romance novel things I can easily ignore them.
I liked this one. Also, because the main character is supposed to be plus-sized. Though I don't know, the description didn't quite fit a seriously fat person. I think Julia Quinn just imagined a normal-sized woman, while all the others were size 0 or something.
I also listened this as an audiobook, and I thoroughly enjoy Rosalyn Landor's reading. All the gasps and moans and that :-D And she does the male and female voices very nicely.
Y'all I need season three on a biblical level. Also how the hell did I read this book the first time and thought Colin sucked ass. He may be on of the best Bridgeton Bros
Tis' another good book, as expected
Book 1 of my power outage book binge
Day 3 without power
My favourite book of this series so far. I adore Penelope and also this one didn‘t have too many cringe-y parts in it
I loved seeing Penelope's and Colins points of view. I needed to see more reactions of revealing Penelope as Lady Whistledown.
Insert the go little rockstar trend here for Penelope.
I still love how Julia Quinn writes banter.

I adored this novel in the Bridgerton Series. It made me love Penelope and Colin even more than I already did. The love between them is so pure!
So far, this was definitely the weakest instalment in the otherwise amusing Bridgertons series. The story isn't really that interesting and the narrative dragged on rather uninspired so that I was actually bored at times which isn't exactly my intention when reading a fluffy easy-to-read romance. What annoyed me the most, though, and made me almost quit this book was Colin Bridgerton himself. So, you know, this series of books is set in the early 19th century and, fortunately, as a society we've made a lot of progress - Women's suffrage, emancipation, feminism, and so on.And I'm really happy about that. Thus, I already have to temporarily suspend a lot of truly heartfelt convictions and disengage large parts of my brain in order to be able to enjoy this kind of book: I have to completely disregard more than 100 years of social, societal and emancipatory advances. I do so and, consequently, tolerate a whole lot of outdated nonsense and I find that all the more difficult if a book isn't truly worth it. I can do it because I love to giggle at amusing, witty bantering in a love story which, fortunately, happens a lot in the Bridgerton series. I can do it because I truly hope that any reader will know that the story is set in the bad old times and that times have greatly changed for the better. And I do temporarily suspend my convictions because I crave happy endings - sorry, can't help it. How dare you, though, Colin Bridgerton, to be angry at your love interest because she's acting on her own, because she's at least somewhat independent?! How dare you berate her for having a secret?! How dare you, Julia Quinn, to belittle your cast and, in extension, yourself and your audience like that?! (Not to speak of actually harmfully influencing younger, impressionable readers.) At the one major altercation between Colin and Penelope, I was about to rage-quit because I just couldn't stand that level of drivel. And it went on!»The shock was gone, replaced by a simple, primitive need to claim her, to brand her, to mark her as his.«Excuse me?! He wants to “brand her”, like cattle?! And how does Penelope react only a little later, thinking about herself?»She had been born for this man«Again, I was about to quit when things evened a little out at least and this possessive crap was slightly reigned in.Ultimately, though, Colin Bridgerton turns out to be just the despicable guy I had him pegged for:»She had no right to put herself in such a precarious position without consulting him first. He was her husband, or would be, and it was his God-given duty to protect her whether she desired it or not.« I just hope this series doesn't get any lower than this because I don't think I can take much more of this kind of backwards madness.
Echt ongeloofwaardig.
I liked their story. Colin and Penelope make a very charming (hah! See what i did there?) couple. I like that they became friends and progressed from there. The whole thing with Lady Whistledown was well done. I loved Lady Danbury in this one. Other than the stuff about him pitying her, there wasn't too much second-guessing which was good because it always annoys me when they do that. I liked that they were both aware of their faults but still accepted each other. Colin being jealous of Penelope's success was a nice touch. I enjoyed his writing. Also, I'm very proud of Penelope for being Lady Whistledown. That ending was spectacular! Colin's declaration of love was one thing, but the moment Lady Danbury started clapping? I actually hollered.
My only gripe with the book is that the ending felt rushed. The solution was simple enough but it just felt like it could've been drawn out a little longer. Also, that they kept mentioning how Colin never loses his temper, but he does it quite often and he flips his emotions a lot. Which is a bit of a red flag to me
