Rachel Rising, Volume 1: The Shadow of Death

A deceivingly complex little book about life, death, and witches (maybe). I'm not sold on the art–some of Moore's wonderful simple style doesn't work as well with horror as it does with some other stuff I've read of his. (Full disclosure: I was never a Strangers In Paradise fan–weird, right?–but I did like the art in that book.) That said, the art is still lovely, and some of it really sticks with me; mostly the little personal moments.

I'd definitely keep reading...

Man labai patiko, kol nepaaiškėjo, kad visa krikščioniškos mitologijos simbolika yra tiesa, kad Lilith yra ta pati Lilith iš žydų mitologijos (aka pirmoji moteris iki Ievos), o Rachel yra jos sesuo. Dievas jas nubaudė, todėl jos žemėj... UGH, siaubas.

Dar, aišku, erzino, kad yra personažė - mergaitė serijinė žudikė, kuri nužudė daug nekaltų žmonių, tačiau veik nieks jos už tai nekritikuoja, ji yra mylima ir ja rūpinamasi. Autorius, matomai, ją irgi labai mėgsta ir netgi buvo padaręs konkursą su šiomis taiyklėmis:

“CONTEST RULES:

1. Put the words RACHEL RISING on display to the public and send me a photo.

2. Do not deface somebody else's property.”
