An awesome coming of age story about childhood friends working in a pumpkin patch right before going to college.
Cute illustrations, but overall a predictable story that didn't offer much to make it unique or memorable.
A sweet, everything that can go wrong does little love story. The “Pumpkin Patch” seemed like the most fun place ever and honestly, I was right there with Deja wanting to eat everything there!
Perfect fall read (warm and halloweeny in the best way). Can be read in 30 min but you kinda want to live in it forever.
This is the cutest graphic novel I've ever read! Now my dream is to go to a pumpkin patch, great!
Any book that starts with a map promises an exciting adventure, and this one's no different. There is a real sense of place here, helped by the great art. The characters are well written, and believable. I've definitely been in Josie's situation before, blind to what's right in front of me and also too timid to do something about a long held crush, so I was glad to see the happy ending.
A very cute story of Deja and Josiah last year working at their towns local Pumpkin Patch before they head off to college. Josiah has been crushing on this girl who he seen but never talk to, so Josiah makes it their quest for Josiah to go and talk to her (plus Deja has a side quest to try all the food they have). This book is full of fall vibes from their outfits, the food, and the over look of everything. The story itself is simple and kind of obvious how it is going to go, but the plots not too important (it's the friend we made along the way). This is prefect read for around fall to get in the mood to go apple picking or eat pumpkin pie.
So cute and i love the humour and the dialogue. If they ever make a sequel I will gladly read it.
Loved the art! The story was cute but very, very predictable. It was sweet though.
Pumpkinheads is a sweet story about two friends spending their last Halloween in a pumpkin patch. This really must be the world's best pumpkin patch, based on all of the different food stands and attractions that were shown or mentioned. It was the Disneyland of pumpkin patches.
Pumpkinheads was my first graphic novel. I bought the Kindle version of this book by Rainbow Rowell two years ago, but had not read past the first couple of pages. So this review is a response to reading a graphic novel in general just as much as it is a review of Pumpkinheads as a story. Possibly more. This is different for me. I'm very auditory, and to me, books are about words.
Reading Pumpkinheads, a graphic novel, was a little confusing at first. I had to read the word bubbles in the right order. I had to really look at the pictures to see what was going on in the story. These might seem like silly or obvious things to point out, but these were the little differences that were, for some reason, hurdles to the very idea of my reading a graphic novel.
I got used to the different format pretty quickly, and soon stopped noticing that I was looking at pictures at the same time that I was reading words. To me it felt a little bit like watching a movie with subtitles. Since all of the text is dialogue, I could also compare it to reading a play. But with pictures. It was also pretty fast to read. Much faster than a traditional novel, because of course there is far fewer text on each page.
Fun fact; I started reading this while watching Star Trek: The Next Generation with my husband. At the end of the book, in the acknowledgments, the authors talk about bonding over their love of Star Trek: The Next Generation. True story.
Sometimes a super cute graphic novel that has my favorite season is just what the doctor ordered.
I finished a really hard, and almost depressing book and this was the pick-me-up I needed.
Loved the story, the illustrations and the setting. Perfect read for Fall.
The perfect light, quick, and cute read to get you feeling all of the fall vibes. I can definitely see myself reading this every fall from now on.
I have wanted to read this book since it came out but never did. When I randomly saw it in my library the other day I had to pick it up. This book is set during fall but I read it during the summer and still really enjoyed it. It's so adorable and the graphics are amazing. I loved the characters in this especially Deja. She is so outgoing and the best friend someone could ask for. This graphic novel in my opinion has some great representation but since I don't have personal experience with any of the rep I would say read some own voices reviews to get a better sense of that. While this book was pretty predictable I still really enjoyed reading it and it was a quick easy read as well. I would love if there was a continuation but I don't know if that will ever be a thing.
This book was so well illustrated. The character's expressions were wonderful. Their personalities were wonderfully shown and written. The story was absolutely adorable. The ending, slightly predictable but well played out all the same.
All-in-all, I ate this book up and was happy with how it turned out.
