Is there such a thing as too sweet?😅
I know I won't give this book more than 3 stars so I might as well stop reading now.
cutee book! really liked the healthy & realistic body rep, the genuinely cute romance bw the mc's. towards the end i feel like the male mc's declarations of love were a lil too superfluous (“u are interwoven into my tapestry” - like boy chill). also didn't really buy him hiring her in the first place either, i'm not a fan of the insta-love trope. similarly w the baby daddy, that plot point didn't make much sense (why would the son of a billionaire steal money from his bestfriend?) and why did our girl like this dude in the first place if he's such an asshole. let's pls make our villains multidimensional characters! or u could just not make him a villain also
I just really needed an easy romance today and this delivered. Both main characters are likable. No 3rd act break-up which is a nice change.
Elliot is the king of is acts of service and I adored every second of this. For the first 50% I had thought this was going to be a six star read which has never happened but sadly that's changed. I think this might be a me problem but it felt so slow towards the end, like a good 50 pages could have been cut off.
I loved their love. If you love caretaking, this is for you. Catherine is struggling with a capital s. I mean pregnant as fuck, house that is a wreck and basically plywood, and best friend made baby daddy fled the scene. It's not until Elliot realized too many months in that his assistant is pregnant that he finally starts to show a little bit of emotions. The always hard and stoic Elliot is now buying new chairs for the entire floor (secretly just for her) and giving her oh so many gift cards.
It's not until he practically forces her and her newborn to move in with her that they both start to feel the emotions they both been fighting. I loved both of these characters so much and seeing Elliot act as dad and be so possessive was so AAHHH. I loved.
This is such a cute read, I'm definitely looking forward to reading the previous books. I love how Elliot was just there and ready to help get her out of a crappy situation. He has my whole heart and the spice was so good. There's a special place in hell for people like Liam though (aka Catherine's baby daddy). Julia Wolf has gained herself another reader.

This was amazing. I was giggling and kicking my feet. I absolutely LOVE and live for grumpy MC's who are only sunshine for their girls.
And Elliot was perfect. He is a no nonsense grumpy CEO, and won't have anything less than the perfection he expects from his assistant and everyone else. He needs the control.
Catherine is a pregnant and single mom, and thrives as Elliot's assistant. Checks every box and does the tasks he requires perfectly. Once he realizes she's pregnant, some switch goes off in him and he needs to protect her and the baby.
Seeing Elliot with such kindness and tenderness towards Catherine was so wonderful. He is so sweet to her and takes care of her In ways she didn't realize she needed. He is what she needed and didn't even see until it was already in motion.
Devoured this one.
Can't wait to read about Miles next.
