This book is a romance, no doubt about it. The intimate scenes are hot, and most importantly, imperative to the relationship between Gigi and Camden. As a married couple that hasn't seen one another for ten years, there are past disputes that have to be resolved, old wounds re-opened, and ten years of desire to be satiated. Which they do, but always with a purpose.
For those of you writing romance, read Thomas's book for an example of well-written intimate scenes that not only further the plot, they shove the plot forward with gusto, making you feel everything the characters feel and more. This is the first romance in a long time where I felt like the author really knew what they were doing. I'm definitely adding Thomas's backlist to my TBR.

Why on earth did I initially rate this 2 stars? What was I thinking?!?! I didn't even have the presence of mind to leave myself a review so at least I could know why I was so wrong.
It's too convoluted for my taste! Hero has such a flimsy reason for ditching his new bride that it makes him totally unlikeable. And their eventual reunion lacks believability too because seriously, a breakup based on miscommunication or lack of communication is bad enough. But when the couple does not repair or improve on their communication skills ... this doesn't bode well for their future!
I wanted to like this book. But I just found it ok. The main characters weren't all that interesting or charming. I basically finished the book just to see how the author would wrap up the romance.
Another factor I disliked about the book was the side romance with the main heroine's mother. It felt added on and distracted from the main story.
I have read another book by Sherry Thomas “Beguiling the Bride” and enjoyed it a lot. I think that she has really improved her writing skills and development of her characters since this book. I will continue to read her new series but her first novel just didn't move me very much.
