I really like a good premise for a re-telling, a deaf girl falls in love with the Piper and can not be hypnotized by his song. Sounds great! Unfortunately, the story was rather eh. The art however I thought was pretty good and portrayed scenes pretty well. I really wish this was maybe 3xs longer than it was so we can get a good connection between these two main characters and some more world building.
I wish this deaf character had more of the deaf accent when she spoke. She seemed more of hard of hearing spectrum, which is great, but it isn't portrayed well. I would have liked to see more signs between her grandmother and possibly the piper to communicate and have that “secret language” bond when other people seem to ignore her or worse. Honestly, I forgot this character was deaf more than half-way through when some exposition came along to remind me.
Anyway, it was an enjoyable enough read. Check this out for yourself! ~Ashley
I liked the art, but I thought the story was a little awkward and didn't resolve very well.
Never read a graphic novel before, but I definitely have to read more after this. This story was really good and the artwork was awesome. This story was kind of slow in the beginning but picked up about a quarter of the way through. I would
