Not Your Ex's Hexes

I liked the two MCs, and it was exactly what I expected from this book.

There was more plot than I thought there would be and some spice. The hearts of both main characters were good, which made you want to cheer for them.

I just finished Not Your Ex's Hexes by April Asher and here are my thoughts.

Rose Maxwell trained to become the next Prima for the supernatural council but when her sister's powers finally showed itself and magic declared that she should be Prima... Rose is suddenly in control of her own destiny but has no clue what to do with herself.

Deciding to liberate what she assumes are abused animals lands Rose with community service for the sanctuary she tried to steal animals from and low and behold, the vet... None other than Damien.... The half demon she had a one night stand with. As they spend more time together they both know they don't want anything more than just friends with benefits and the arrangement suits them well.

As Rose tries to help the financially strapped sanctuary and spending time with the grumpy vet starts to awaken something in Rose. A passion she didn't know she had but little does she know, Damien can't allow her into his heart without losing his humanity but his heart seems to be winning a battle he can't afford to lose.

THIS BOOK WAS UNBELIEVABLE!!! Rose and Damien... My new favorite couple! I loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamic that was going on and every time he called her little witch, I totally swooned!!

This is book 2 of the series and while I didn't read the first book, it worked as a standalone in my opinion but I will be going back and getting book one and experiencing this all again!

It was a little on the spicy side. I would give it a 3 spicy peppers

This is book 2 in the Supernatural Singles series. Even though I read the first book I got confused while reading this because I didn't remember it well enough, so I do recommend reading #1 first. Though there's a handy glossary at the back that I only found when I was done, it's quite funny too!

Just like the other book in the series, this is a good intro to paranormal romance. It's a cute, cheesy, fluffy, funny romance, great for Valentine's day vibes.

This is the 2nd book in the Supernatural Singles series by April Asher. I haven't read the 1st book, Not the Witch You Wed, but it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. There is a lot of mention of the main characters from the 1st one so I'll definitely be checking out that one soon.
It's absolutely insane how spicy this read was and, more importantly, it was female-focused spice. There was also a lot of romance, action, and fantasy involved in the story as well. This is a perfect blend for romcom and fantasy readers. There's also a little dictionary in the back for readers newer to the genre.
The plot is centered around witch Rose and half-demon Damian who become engaged in a friends with benefits arrangement. Now reading that you may think to expect that spice but I'm telling you it surpasses your expectations. It's really enjoyable to see their relationship form and meet their friends and family along the way. I also loved reading about the animals they worked with and their storylines were so cute. This is a very character heavy book and they was such a likable ensemble that it was such a joy reading their stories. There was also a lot of comedy, hence the romcom genre, and there were many moments I audibly laughed. I NEED to read a book about Olive finding love now.
Some of the supernatural dialogue was cringey at first but it didn't take long to get used to. The characters' lovability made up for any qualms I had. The ending was also a little rushed but I feel like that's a typical complaint for any romance book.
I definitely recommend this one, especially for romcom lovers looking to read something slightly different within the genre. There's also representation with the leading lady, Rose, who is plus-sized and tall, which is definitely nice to see in romance.
