WELL THAT ONE WAS STEAMY AS HELL. I was way more into Temple than Cross, so this book was much more interesting to me. (I like the big strong guys who are actually teddy bears inside, okay? okay.) There's some hot spicy scenes, and then some more tender ones as well to balance it all out. Temple and Mara's relationship was confusing at first, but it does get hammered out a little more as you read on. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS ONE.
My review in a nutshell:
But to elaborate:
Why did Mara come up with the scheme? Why did Mara not help him if she felt so guilty? Why were they even attracted to each other? 80% of this story didn't make sense to me and I found Mara hugely unlikeable for what she did to Temple.
Her actions towards the end made no sense. At all.
And then the writing. What's up with it? It was choppy. Like this. Always. Every. Chapter.
And repetitive - Mara kept reminding us that Temple was the way he was because of her. Always. In. Every. Chapter. In that breathy, melodramatic. Style.
BLEH!!! WHY CROW WHY. I LOOOOOOOOOVED Bourne and Penelopes Story, and I even kind of liked Pippa and Cross. But Temple and Mara? ::vomit:: Seriously. Full Stop.
First off, they have some weird creepy get together at the beginning of the book, and then Mara continues to lie to Temple. Not cool. But then, all the men at the Angel are complete assholes to Mara, continuously. I was just dumbfounded. How can you do this to me? I normally really like the way you tell a story! But this one I had to DNF at 85%, because the dialogue at the sex scene was bizarre. And the foreplay was not ... anything I cared to read about. Yeah. Not my style.
You want to read a fun and cheesy romance novel, read the first one of this series, it was GREAT. Do not continue. That is my only warning.
