My Not So Perfect Life

Fluffy and predictable. I didn't love the “moral” (everyone's lives look perfect on Instagram but are actually a mess - that maybe would have felt fresh in 2013 but not in 2017 when it was published and definitely not in 2020 when I read it) especially paired with a main character who felt like a bit of a Mary Sue (she's just brilliant at her career and effortlessly beautiful and all the emotionally unavailable guys can't help being in love with her, you know?) but it was an easy, fun read.

I'm really, really tempted to give this a 5 stars rating because I enjoyed every word. But the ending seemed rushed, so I'll go with 4.5 stars.

Man, this book has been SO relatable!!! We all think others people's lives are perfect, and sometimes we thrive to accomplish the same things. However, in the end, no one's life is perfect. This story was a clear example of that, and I'm glad it showed the real side of life (and Instagram).

I never read chick lit before, but Sophie Kinsella has definitely won me over. I think I might read more books by her in the future.

Another great stand-alone novel by Sophie Kinsella! A funny and touching story as I like them! It's a perfect easy-breazy read to soften harder reads!

I like most of Kinsella's books, and this one was no exception. A fun read, with a touch of “whats real” in the time of social networks thrown in.

Might be the worst book I've read in a while. I honestly hated a few other books I read but this one I think takes the cake. What a huge waste of time. I had to keep putting it down and picking it back up and putting it down again. The characters have no depth to them, the whole thing was completely predictable. I hated the main character. She was just so messed up, I get that people don't have to have their life together but her thought process read like she was 13 years old and had not life experience what-so-ever. I could see this being targeted at maybe that tween audience but for an adult, it just made me hate myself for wasting time on it.

The story itself was just so boring and drawn out, there wasn't really anything really interesting about it at all. This was supposed to be a book about how no one's life is perfect and the struggles of this girl living in London, but then, magically, everything works out! What a miracle! Well life does NOT work that way.

Please if you haven't read it yet, don't waste your time!

One of my favourite Sophie Kinsella books. It was fun, funny, and heart warming. I loved the characters and would love to see the all again if Ms. Kinsella ever decides to turn this book into a series.

My only twinge of sadness comes from finishing it always too fast. I love her.

That said, the whole running away from the restaurant and being mistaken for a homeless person sounded too much like the shopaholic scene when she pretends wearing a t shirt with a belt was on purpose.
