I had my suspicions all along, but as usual, the conclusion included some twists I didn't foresee! The final piece of evidence was pretty specific, but it was interesting to see how it played out. Overall the story was satisfying! And I really enjoyed following some of the side characters in the story.
I always love a good Agatha Christie mystery but I can't count this one among my favorites. We don't meet some of the central suspects except through a newspaper article, which makes it more difficult than usual to parse the mystery and keep track of who's who.
Cruising through all of Christie's mysteries chronologically, this one came as a pleasant surprise. Poirot is pulled into yet another case that just doesn't seem right and ends up staying in a small town full of “very nice people” who, in reality, aren't all that nice. This one is really more enjoyable for people who are already fans of Poirot and fans of Agatha Christie. The jokes are pointed and self-referential, making fun both of the detective and of the author. The mystery itself feels enjoyable because of the characters, and there are a lot of characters. But don't worry, all you have to remember is their age and hair color
A typical great Agatha Christie mystery. Had me guessing right until the end. Highly recommended for all Agatha Christie fans.
