Modern Romance: An Investigation

nagyon alapos, sokszor vicces, de közben baromi álmosító is. lehet, hogy mégis inkább hallgatnom kellett volna, de ahhoz nincs türelmem.

A very interesting (and often funny) book about the way we envision love nowadays and the problems caused by technology and the “false abundance” caused by it. This book gives an unique outlook on the way our generation search for love, fall in love, break-up, envision the fact to settle down, ... and also set several parallels with previous generations in an interesting way.

“Since our expectations are so high, today people are quick to break things off when their relationship doesn't meet them. [...] You conclude there's something wrong with the person or the relationship since it isn't as exciting as before. So you break up, without ever giving companionate love a chance to bloom.”

This was a fun read. Or I should say listen. The audiobook is narrated by the author himself and he is no stranger to comedic scenarios. His narration shows that he's a stand-up comedian - the word “bozo” absolutely cracked up me every time he used it! I'd recommend this one just because of the narrator, although subject matter is no less interesting.

Some pretty funny parts, and a few insights that were interesting. Overall it was info I'd heard elsewhere, but in Aziz's voice. If you like Aziz, it's worth reading.

(3.5, rounding up) A light, entertaining listen, though I could've done without the calling audiobook listeners lazy - I can't really read and drive, Aziz! The social science aspect was interesting, but I was really listening to this for Aziz's humor, and I feel like this book could have used a bit more of that. I appreciate the desire to do more than just a written standup routine, though, so I'm rounding up.
