Rationally speaking, I understand it all. Maybe even why it had to be like that.
But in my heart, I never will. And spoilers be damned, it is just wrong.
I should start by saying I do not normally read chick lit, at all! However this one was brought to my attention by a family member raving about it one evening, explaining how gut clenchingly sad it was. She was right. I mostly used to reading mystery novels so was pleasantly surprised to find the whole story of this book was rather beautiful and usual, I really enjoyed reading this book! However, do not go into this reading this book expecting a typical love story where everything is plain sailing, this book tackels some controversial issues which can be found to be rather upsetting. Make sure you have a box tissues on hand. However I still thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend this to anyone just looking for something a little bit different to read.
I bought the digital version of the film and fell in love with this story, so I read After You and then Still Me, so I decided I should finally read book one in this trilogy. I just bought the Kindle version, but I do plan to purchase the paperback or hardback set one day. Jojo Moyes is one of my favorite authors.
There is a smoothness in the author's style that had me feeling like I was was a part of Louisa and Will's story. All the characters evolve in realistic and meaningful ways. The result is a quick read that is fluid and well paced but never maudlin.
It tended to drag along for me.The thing I love about this book is that I hope it sparks a conversation about death. Everyone should consider what their loved ones what if they should be in a horrible accident or their wishes after their passing. I believe everyone's life is important and more importantly that person's wishes for their life or body should be respected. I believe everyone should have a conversation with someone they love and trust about this. Wow! Kinda morbid but I think it's super important.IF you enjoyed this you may like [b:The Midnight Library 52578297 The Midnight Library Matt Haig https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1602190253l/52578297.SY75.jpg 74043794]
What an emotional rollercoaster. ♡ I can definitely see this being a book that stays with me for awhile. The feels, the journey, the growth... just
Captivating! Characters are very well developed and I was completely sucked in! This book touches on so many aspects of life and living that people aren't comfortable talking about. I absolutely loved it and I'm looking for the next one!
Loved Will and Lou and the impact their relationship had on each other. Loved Will's snarky and sarcastic personality. I think this book handles a deep and morally challenging subject without being too terribly heavy. Sad, happy, sweet, and thought provoking all at once.
First book by Jojo Moyes that I read.
The book was in simple language and the story was pretty straightforward.
I liked the book very much; filled with comedy, romance and also tragedy. The books also motivates us to live an adventurous life and out of our comfort zone.
I would suggest the song “Keating's triumph” from the movie Dead poets society to go very well with this book.
Loved the book.
My heart. ;-;
I have watched the movie a dozen times before actually reading the book. I love Lou, she is such a smol bean and she needs all the love and protection. Will is amazing. I totally get his attitude at first.
I really really loved this book.
I'm exhausted of the rude, haughty, sarcastic, self-important male love interest who doesn't deserve what he gets in the story but gets it anyway.
It was tricky to determine how I felt about this book. I did enjoy reading it, but underneath I had an unsettling feeling. I'm admittedly biased as a consequence of having been in an unhealthy relationship where suicide was threatened as a means of control. So, the thought of a significantly younger woman having to attempt to prevent a man's suicide and then falling in love with him in the process? I had trouble ignoring the alarm bells going off in my mind. That being said, I realize the story was not a manipulative scenario and the more romantic side of me could understand some aspects and go along with it.
I love this book. It made me so emotional and I love the characters. This is definitely now one of my favorite books ever. Read this book. It's heartbreaking but so amazing.
I'm having a hard time figuring out why everyone loved this novel so much... I just couldn't get into it. The characters didn't seem at all believable to me.
Perhaps I'm too blinded by tears to see the flaws, but know that this is a good book. A very good, sad, lovely, joyful book.
