Magnolia Parks: Into the Dark

Jess Hastings has this talent where she'll write the most heartbreaking, gut wrenching sentence you've ever read and then proceed like she didn't just leave you staring at the wall for five minutes trying to cope.

Distraught is not a strong enough word to describe how this book made me feel. As someone with a sister, I barely made it through this book. I cannot imagine the type of grief Magnolia felt, it was heartbreaking to read. There were time I had to put the book down and walk away. It's very grief heavy but the character growth we see in Magnolia and BJ is worth the heartache.

I will admit this had me crying so hard during some scenes. Especially the funeral scene. I was damn near sobbing because what she said is so accurate with having a sister. Not matter what happens, we will always be sisters. I cried so damn much during that scene. Her ending it with “I'm burying my guiding light”... I couldn't read any more for the rest of the day after reading that scene. I don't blame Magnolia a single bit for how she acted. She's a lot stronger than I would've been.

i truly do not have words for this book. the way jessa talks about grief, love, and the human experience... nothing compares to writing like this. i cried several times, and it takes a lot for me to cry. 6 stars forever

There is no reason in any universe that this needed to be over 700 pages.

It could have been halved and still have been effective. It was just so repetitive and dragged out, I was honestly bored out of my mind for the middle 300 pages that I put it down for a few weeks.

The start was good and the end was good, and I'm glad we finally got the happy ending but I'm disappointed with not liking this as much as the first 2 MP books. 😕

That said, I can't wait for the next Daisy book!

The best in the series so far, I love seeing how the writting gets better and better, the themes are more profound and the characters are really evolving throughout the books.
We sense that some shit will go down in the next Daisy Haites, can't wait!

What an emotional ride! This book was everything I wanted and more! Following the events of The Long Way Home, BJ and Magnolia have to navigate their new reality with the help of their box set. So much healing happens in this book, but it is definitely an emotional roller coaster. I laughed, cried, got angry, and everything in between. The way the Jessa Hastings has written these characters is truly art. It's so bittersweet that this is the last Magnolia book, but I couldn't be happier with the resolution they received. The found family in this series is truly one of a kind, and I love them so so much! These are definitely character driven books, but I love the characters so much I didn't mind it one bit. I absolutely cannot wait for the next Daisy book because I think lots of things are happening that we don't get to see (yet). This book should have come with a trigger warning I think. If you've read the rest in the series, then it may not be triggering for you. I found this content to be much heavier than previous books. Feel free to dm me if you want more info on warnings.
