I really enjoyed this book. I loved reading about Tessa Leoni's origin story. It made me like her character even more. D. D. Warren however not so much. D. D. is not a good detective in my eyes. She was outsmarted at every turn in this book, however I will extend some grace as she was going through some personal issues of her own. I really enjoy reading the Tessa Leoni series and I hope there is more to come.
Always a fan of a good murder mystery.
Lisa Gardner is a good story teller and keeps the audience guessing till the last chapter.
Listened to the audio book of one of her books for the first time.
Another solid 3,5 stars that kept me awake half the night hoping to know who I should sympathize with after all.
Lisa Gardner did it again! This book was just amazing, the twists and turns were so exciting and there was not a moment that I was bored.
Tessa Leoni is my new favorite, I wish that Lisa would take this character and create more stories for her.
This book was like Commando, but with a petite, yet tough woman instead of Arnold Schwartzenegger.
This was a constant ride of terror. You're never really sure what's happening, if a little girl is dead or kidnapped, if Tessa is guilty of murdering EVERYONE....you're basically hanging throughout the whole book.
And it was awesome.
Things happen that make D. D. not so....annoying. It's one thing to be tough and maybe play the bad-cop now and then, but D. D.'s way over the edge there and it's off putting. I don't need her to be sensitive and sweet, I just need her to be human-like.
But Lisa Gardner writes a dang good book and getting Bobby Dodge for a whole novel was pretty sweet too!
Wanted a quick murder mystery and picked this up on a whim. This will be my first and last DD Warren mystery – I found the detective completely devoid of personality. To boot, the plot and characters were predictable. Snooze.
The speed in which I read this book, while on tight deadline, shows how much I loved it.
Read it in a day because I couldn't put it down (that includes one of my kid's birthdays and running around all day with life stuff.)
Absolutely riveting page turner.
If you're a parent, you'll understand the lengths the heroine goes to in order to save her child.
The constant plot twists ensured the pages flew.
I'm a huge fan of Lisa Gardner and will eagerly await her next book.
