As Major Norman Starr is about to appear before a congressional committee to publicly account for his covert actions, he recalls the heritage of his ancestors and the role they played in the true glory of America. Shallow characters with no development whatsoever, and historical characters that sound like they're living in the 20th century. And no real resolution. Maybe in his longer doorstop books he does a better job with character development and storytelling, but this one just fell flat.
